  1. That's pretty wild. G-Man has it right. Checks and balance, a natural system tends to seek equilibrium.
  2. Is it still considered "sport hunting" if you eat them? The things that AP proofing puts into your head.
  3. Looking forward to seeing more "Posted" signs with out of town names and addresses on them. We love that.

    Trout season

I'm with Zem on this one. Into the mountains I go where the water gets high but stays crystal clear. I don't know where you guys are fishing but it sounds like a real hoot. Opening day is an observance more than anything. I'll start fishing a favorite creek next week if the weather holds. I haven't fished it, or even seen it for that matter, since December buried it but am looking forward to our reunion.
  5. I heard that episode as well. There was a corresponding article written in the NYT Magazine as well. Fascinating and terrifying at the same time. I've never been able to see my cat in the same light since.
  6. Library Mercenary. Have pencil. Will Travel. Building trades/maintenance prior. Never been fired, but I've quit quite a few in my short time.
  7. I can understand that. But then why start there in the first place?
  8. Could it be about the protein? Or perhaps calcium to grow those racks?
  9. I have officially learned something new today. This seems crazy to me. Has anyone else ever heard of this? http://www.fieldandstream.com/blogs/field-notes/researchers-document-deer-eating-birds?dom=fas&loc=contentwell&lnk=read-more
  10. Ok. As a lifelong "north country" resident I'd just like to know something. Why do so many residents of the southern portion of our state move to our little towns up north? I'm not picking a fight here, just trying to gain some insight into a phenomenon I've observed.
  11. This did not turn out the way I had expected.
  12. I figured I'd just give you guys something else to argue about. http://www.fieldandstream.com/blogs/the-gun-nuts/on-hipsters-and-hunting?dom=fas&loc=contentwell&lnk=on-hipsters-and-hunting
  13. That right there is a fine looking fish.
  14. If you hadn't been getting the snow off and the ice was thicker than 6 inches, I could see how that wouldn't have helped.
  15. Stop at your local hardware store and pick up a bucket of calcium chloride pucks. It's safe for use on asphalt and all you need to do is chuck a bunch up to the worst spots. I'm not entirely positive how they work, but I'll say that they certainly do work. These puppies melt a hole down to the roof and bore a channel under the ice. When they work their way to the edge water just pours off the roof.
  16. I would recommend a visit to a drilling pad and the attendant wastewater pits. I'm certainly no scientist, but there are no more proven consequences than the scarred earth of extractive industries.
