  1. I like the new look, although I will agree with the statement above....Great site and appreciate the improvements!
  2. Its a European Crane Fly....commonly mistaked for a large, female mesquito.
  3. Eddie.......sorry to ruin your fun! It wasn't my intention....I will let you keep them hanging next time.

  5. My brother and I own 90 acres. We have hunted together since ever since we were legally able, and purchaseing our own hunting land was something we wanted for the longest time. We signed the papers on February 20, 2008. We celebrate the day as Land-a-versary! Best purchase ever!!
  6. I purchased my lifetime sportsman and lifetime bow licenses in 2000 when I moved out of state for a few years. Looking back, it was a great investment.

  8. Low Point....I had some vacation time planned for the last week of bow season and the first few days of gun season, and after getting out of my tree stand the first day of my vacation, I recieved a txt from my sister that she was taking my father to the hospital. He ended up having surgery and staying in the hospital for about 10 days. I didn't get back in the woods much after that txt. High Point....The scheduled vacation time was a blessing because I could be there for my father. He was the guy that worked two jobs for over 30 years and still found a way to take his boys hunting, fishing, and never missing their sporting events. I can't think of many things I would rather do than being in the woods hunting, but being there for my family is certainly one of them. FYI - After my father was back on his feet and feeling better, we busted his balls pretty hard about not planning his ailment better...really Dad, surgery during hunting season?? You couldn't have toughed it out for a couple more weeks!!!
  9. Nice late season score...well done!
  10. Good luck, and I hope you are able to find him. Hopefully, the rain doesn't hamper your efforts......Yesterday was a great day to be in the woods. I saw 16 deer, and seemed as though they were active all day.
  11. There is a vasectomy specialist in Rochester.....His name is Dr. Stopp....can't make it up.
  12. Armcomm is correct....there are some companies that are releasing the components of their fracking fluid, Range Resources being one. However, there are some notables like Schlumberger that are still claiming proprietary issues. The link below is a list of components of fracking fluid as disclosed by Pennsylvania DEP. http://marcellusdrilling.com/2010/06/list-of-78-chemicals-used-in-hydraulic-fracturing-fluid-in-pennsylvania/
  13. Armcomm.....I have done quite a bit of research myself over the last 2 years, and I enjoyed reading your take on the fracking issue. Thank you for contributing the information.
  14. Congrats.....great story, and glad to hear all your hard work and determination paid off! Well done.
  15. Great job, and my congrats. Also, wonderful to hear of meaningful experiences that were created via hunting.
  16. That is awesome.....If I am lucky enough to make it to 78 years, I hope I am in a stand on a chilly November day throwing arrows at whitetails.....Great Job!
  17. Muckland......great job and congratulations!
  18. In regard to posting, there is another aspect that it is present due to a societal change over the years.....Liability. many landowner fear they will be held responsible for hunting or land-use related accidents that occur on their property.
  19. First...this is a public forum, so you have to know before you post something, that once you post or start a thread it is subject to ridcule, claims of false hood, or to idiots that claim to be know-it-alls. It is just part of the deal, and it happens in any type of forum. You just need to have thick skin, and move on past the negative posts or ignore the person, and enjoy the opinions of the numerous good natured fellow hunters that seem to dominate this forum. I haven't been here too long, but it is easy to see that the vast majority here are extremely good natured. Just take a look at the congradulatory posts that follow when a fellow hunter posts pictures of his/hers hunting achievements. I don't mean this in a rude way at all, but...don't be so sensitive!!
  20. Skyzmine........wow! great buck. I am looking forward to hearing the story behind the deer. I saw your post came at 11:30pm, so it must be a good one. Congrats!
  21. Sam....congrats on taking that buck! I looked at your utube video of him the other day.....great job and congrats again!! Very cool to have him on video too.
  22. Congrats to the hunter who took the deer, a beauty for sure! Any idea of what it scored?
  23. Here is another picture of the target...check out the blood pattern on the top of the target, hoof marks on the targets hind quarters, you can see hair on the rear end, and the wear pattern behind the deer. Anyways, you can choose to believe it or not, and I don't blame you if you don't. If you knew me, you would know it was true. It was one of those instances where wildlife surprises the hell out of you, and I thought I would share it everyone here, because really...who the hell else could appreciate it? Click on the picture and it will get a little bigger. Good luck this weekend, to all those lucky hunters who are aren't working!
  24. I was just curious what everyone's comfort zone is with range. I typically practice at 30-40 yards, however on our property most shots are afforded between 10-25 yards, with an occasional 30 yard shot, depending on the stand. I practice at 30-40 yards because it makes those 20 yards shots seem very easy. In my stand, I doubt I would take a shot over 35 yards and most likely I would not be presented with a shot over that length.
