    Saw some big turds the other day but I talked myself out of what I was thinking. We’ve only seen 2 bears in almost 10 years on this property. Both were early Spring. Town of Rush.

    I’m in a one hour rain delay. Hoping for some deer movement after the storm passes. I hate letting good venison walk away… but my for the next 3 days is to pass on does and try for a buck.

    Still waiting to see big bucks in daylight… this stud was hitting the water hole at 2 AM.

    Hunting partner wanted to experiment with scrapple, so we made a batch from the livers, hearts, and shanks from 2 does plus some venison sausage from last season. Actually smells pretty good. Froze 2 of them and the official taste test will happen Sat morning (if we’re not dining on fresh buck heart + eggs)

    I have a feeling that Chef actually was holding back some of the worse stuff. That being said, if he was warned multiple times he should've erred on the side of caution. Hopefully he comes back.

    Beautiful morning. I’m surprised I didn’t see any bucks. I did see a good sized doe though! 147lbs made it 25 yards.

    Snuck out for a quick hunt. A few years ago I killed a buck on Nov 8 in the snow. Today’s a bit warmer, but ya never know!

    I dropped the ball and didn’t get any pics. We ended up cooking like a dozen pies in the Ooni. They were all delicious. Prosciutto arugula was the crowd favorite as usuals. The last 3 we let my 8 year old nephew make from start to finish and they came out great. He made himself a pepperoni to take home for lunch today.

    Only an AM hunt today since it’s my son’s first birthday… what could be better than a birthday buck??? Good luck out there everyone!

    My first thought was that I've had way more success during morning hunts... I went back and checked my notes. 52% of deer killed were in the morning (55% of bucks). That's definitely closer than I thought. Of course... I don't complete records of number of AM vs PM hunts. So far this season I've hunted 9 AMs and 10 PMs.

    I finally got an extra fine stone to finish sharpening broadheads. Three pairs made the cut to be re-used for deer.

    Sitting over a mock scrape tonight and the only bucks I get are 3 button bucks hitting it up. Also had a decent sized doe walk under me and I let her go in the hopes she was pulling a buck around. Kinda regretting not smoking her.
