Rain n wind changed over to snow in 4-0. My son saw the big 8 he's been after all bow season, passing on other nice bucks holding out for him. Saw him yesterday in neighboring field twice but no shot. Saw him again this am 0730 nudging a doe went into a neighbors woodlot lil while later a shot from mountain above woodlot. Nephew was out in 4-0 saw two bucks and one large doe. Had a forkie at 15 yards. But A/R makes him ng. He has one more day he can bow hunt, so a big doe may be on his list. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I've used a .270 for years and have shot maybe 20 deer and a 250 lb black bear using 130 grain core lokt bullets. I would say I've never had that problem but there are so many variables , shot placement is one of the them. I use several different rifles during gun season. Last season I shot a 6 pt at about 15 yards ( heart shot) and it ran about 50 yards blood everywhere. During a heavy snowfall so I got on his trail quickly, I would say I've had as many drop in there tracks with the 270 as any other caliber I also use. 300 win mag, 44 , 30-30 30.40 krag depending on my mood. Won't be out opener as I am working. But will take a crossbow out the following week. Possibly my recurve if I sit in my lower stand as shots there are very close. I like the option of possibly using anyone of three archery weapons. Good luck to all. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I hunt with all three a recurve, compound, and a x-bow and take whatever I feel like using that day(after x-bow opens). Mostly I take my recurve, and if I don't get a deer so be it. I enjoy hunting . My nephew and my two sons keep me excited for each season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

In my 20's and 30's I used hang-on stands quite a bit. No issues Thank God, but they are hairy getting on and off. Now ladder stands and blinds are my choice. Glad he's fine, close call. My boys use them now , I'll relay this to them maybe they remember. I hope! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Out now turns out my son wouldn't come down for breakfast because he had a 6 pt laying in the sun 5 yds from stand. He pased and now regrets it, oh well that's hunting.
