  1. It is similar with trout. Native trout that grew up in a stream are pink like the salmon, the stockies are white. Eventually the stocked fish meat will darken as well,so it is diet related...Not sure if it is the shellfish they eat or the bugs...
  2. It is usually people that are not so bright that think they have all the answers because they can't see all the possibilities out there. I have my opinions but don't think they are the one and only truth. We have quite a few regular contributors in this section that have all the answers, makes me chuckle.
  3. I will try one over the winter when my bow guys shop is slower...
  4. Good memory Rob. I shot both not far from my barn, almost felt like cheating a bit. The bow doe I saw when I drove back home and I got my bow and snuck up on her. She was young and not smart and the terrain made it easy. The gun one I shot 300 yds from where i shot the bow one, also saw it on my way to the barn to do chores. I went and grabbed the muzzleloader and snuck up on that group. The wind helped me on that. This year I really want to kill some bucks and in the woods...
  5. All good Rob,this works for you so it's fine. Hope you get one with the bow this year...
  6. Maybe I will give one a try next year. I think my ventum is adjustable for DL anyway...as long as I am not right at the end of the adjustability. I am at 30" now. Do you usually have to add to your DL when going for a thumb release?
  7. Heyyyy, must be getting close to the season, rob is shooting!!
  8. I don't even own any other gun for deer. I started with a 12 gauge but hated the weight and recoil. One shot is fine by me... Any gun seems almost too easy after a month of bowhunting.
  9. I got question for you. How does burning fossil fuels that took millions of years to be created in a short 150 years not affect anything? The earth is a closed system and we have been doing our best to put all that carbon back into the atmosphere.
  10. Not a fact. Communism sounds pretty good on paper,so does a free market. It is always the greed of some that messes things up for the rest of us. You will find that in any system.
  11. You do go all in,wow. That should be a good call in the long run. I would have gotten a setup myself if there wasn't a great one man shop in my area. Enjoy the journey!
  12. Excellent you guys had fun. I have been to Waterville once and liked it,they do have a pretty good setup.
  13. Not open in my area and I have no interest to drive to Albany to hunt...I can wait a few more weeks.
  14. I can't make it either, too much to do around the house.
  15. I think I am in,let me confirm. We have a get together later that day....
  16. Broadhead, bareshaft and fieldpoint at 27 yds. I may have to visit biz to get an earlier opener...
  17. That is great. We show that kindness to dogs, but not to people. The amount of people taking that route is not even going to put a dent in the population numbers. Covid didn't either. At some point there will be some major events that will lower numbers drastically. It won't be anything planned or coordinated I am pretty sure about that.
  18. Eh,maybe you are right. @Shoots100 has a point too, humanity as a whole is never going to get their stuff together to avert whatever is going to happen,so we might as well go full steam ahead and have a good time doing it. Let the kids and their kids deal with it...
  19. there is plenty of food to feed the world,it is not being distributed because of profits. you usually have better post than this one...pretty ridiculous twist on the benefits of co2. I am aware of the biology involved. At the same time that extra co2 makes trees grow faster but the lumber is crap compared to trees harvested over 100 years ago. Fast growth does not equal quality. Too many people on the planet anyway...
  20. It isn't an all or nothing situation. The way we are living is a cancer to this planet. It doesn't have to be that way though, we could try to follow some of nature's laws... We are not separate from nature and can only ignore it for so long. Long term prognosis is we will be gone and the planet may recover,or maybe not. It is quite remarkable how much we managed to fuck it up in a couple of hundred years though. Seems like the bill is coming due.
