Wow,i cant believe LE is dragging their asses on this. Sounds like an accident waiting to happen. Maybe you have to go up higher in the chain? Just because the dude doesn't have a permanent address shouldn't make it that hard to find him if the cops really wanted to. You should ask LE if you should shoot him in the leg next time you see him so they can catch up with him. Not really, but this sounds like the type of scenario that makes you doubt the point of following laws.

I have a doe in the freezer. It feels great, but i think she feels lonely in there. I will try to get some company for her in there. I went for a quick still hunt this a.m.,saw some turkeys and heard some branches fall. I might sneak out later today...if that doesn't work i will be out all weekend. -

I hope you guys find him. Shooting a bedded deer is always tough, the organs and how everything aligns is weird, like if he is curled to the side at all. I shot my first doe from the ground on the ground and hit right where i aimed, but it was a loooong trail. One lung, liver and guts. Best of luck!! -
A lot can go wrong even if one is trying to take the best shot possible and practiced a lot. Hitting a deer in the face always looks bad,but the only person that really knows what went wrong is the hunter. Just as everyone needs to decide what a good shot opportunity is,in that moment.

I have been busted in a tree using my climber, but not very often. It depends where you set up to some degree too. I killed a few does in spots where their focus is on the dirt road in one instance or on the edge if the field. I set up 30 to 40 yds from the edge of a major terrain change and generally the deer try to check the edge. A thick tree will give you back cover, and sometimes you can find a nice branchless tree with something else right beside it, like a hemlock or beech or something with branches. In general you want to be out of the deers most likely line of vision.

Not the right time, but better late than never

More speed is useless if your arrow doesn't fly right. I don't understand people chasing speed,at most of our eastern distances you are talking about a very very small difference in arrow travel time. My buddy shoots only 55#, so no speed demon there. That's why he needs his fixed BH to fly right. He is not as obsessed about perfect arrow flight as i am,but that's ok. -

Haha,as i read this i am just taking a break from finishing the trimming on the doe meat. Good rainy day to finish the 1st deer before i go after the next one. I have a dmp and an either sex tag left,so still have options. Looks like Saturday is the next day out for me,maybe tomorrow afternoon if i can finish work early enough. -

I am gonna join you in the outdoors in a little while, the rain is supposed to hold off for a while here too. I will go for a slow walk and look for sign. Maybe i will meet a careless buck? -
I just helped the friend that helped me recover my doe Saturday to set his bow up better..He said he couldn't get the broadheads to group with the fieldpoints. I know this should have been taken care of months ago,but he just approached me with it now. So he came to my house and we started broadhead tuning. It worked ok,i adjusted the rest down and left and we were getting closer when he sent one BH over the target. We could not find it in the leaves, even though i saw where it ruffled the leaves when it hit the ground. Then we continued with another arrow and all of a sudden things were all over the place and my buddy was getting frustrated. For some reason i thought to check the BH and the spin the arrow and the wobble was really bad. So we switched arrows and BH out and things were perfect!!! It is amazing how many different things are involved in tuning a bow. I was looking at his form and saw some odd things there, but i can't have him change that now. So i we both ended up happy that things worked out. We both learned something and hopefully he can get his first archery deer,he has been at it a few years without any luck yet.

Thank you for the info. It is nice to hear reviewes from people that use the stuff and not sell it.

Can you buy that aider from the hunting beast too?
-
That is kinda why i think i might drop that money. One setup to replace all my stands. My safety harness should probably be replaced, and some of the hang ons will need work soon too. I won't spend money on lifelines or ladders or hang ons or a new harness.
-
I think i will be saving my squirrelnuts until next year and then jump in headfirst and get that whole set up you have. It will hurt, but hopefully only once.
-
And what platform? The tethrd one?
-
oh yeah,i looked at those sticks. How high up do you manage to get on those? And you have the one aider or one on every stick?

grackles? I have seen big swarms of them before, that is definitely loud and possibly creepy. First time i saw them it was foggy as all get out on our hill and you just heard the ruckus. -
What do you use to climb the tree? Your setup sounds super light....
-
Haha,it was fine and didn't influence my bowel movements at all.

Best of luck to all out there. Seems like a good day today... -
I like watching the hunting public. I enjoy the process of picking a spot and why and when. I also like seeing what setups different people have and how they go about the hunt from start to finish. It is nice if i can learn something while watching or at least get food for thought.

I just ate a two year old package of breakfast sausage that we added pork fat to and it was fine. Vacuum sealed with a food saver cheapie.
