Stayed in tonight, probably a horrible decision. I was working on the railing to our upstairs addition when nature called. So like most guys I slung open the sliding glass door to relieve myself and just to my right 25 yards away stands a buck staring at me. How rude, must Have really been impressed. Anyway, wasn't from the stand but close. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

I like the Salmon Showdown. In the off season I am usually fishing and love trolling for walleye and salmon so that is one of my favorites. The breaking point is good, Realtrees Chasing November, Coyote countryis neat if you like predator hunting.

Amen brother! *In my best Hulk Hogan voice* someone a millennial has no clue about.

Now that is freaking funny. Although Grows is the bigger one obviously.

This right here. You could screw some branches in behind you it would help, you could also go lower on the tree so the brush around you sheilds you until they walk out in front of you. Maybe higher so the next branch up is over your shoulder when sitting. It might hinder your shots on that side.

You don't need 2 shotguns to shoot different ammo. Your argument isn't making sense. When goose hunting the regs say you can NOT use a "Bullet" in their definition that means single projectile. You also must use a certain shot size meaning that once again copper, bismuth, plastic whatever the bullet is made from means you can't use it. Now the overlapping part you are trying to use but botched all up. If you are hunting ducks, geese or other migratory birds with steel shot #2 or smaller (numerically larger) you can also hunt turkey at the same time because you are abiding by the game laws for multiple species. BUT you can NOT take a crossbow or rifle out to hunt other game while hunting the above mentioned game because it does not meet the criteria outlined in the regs. Not sure why this is so hard to understand.

It also doesn't even have to be in the gun or on person, if you have just 1 shell in your vehicle you can get a ticket. It really depends on how much of a hard time the ECO wants to give you.

I don't, I have tried a bunch of brands over the years and nothing really seemed to make the difference. My father in law swears he has had deer follow his footprints using the Doc's Double doe but any deer will follow your footprints to figure out what you are.

I have something similar but the L.L. Bean one. It has elastic straps and very adjustable love the things. https://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/60179?page=binocular-harness -
Nice gun stand.

Hey it's Woody!

For bears you would want something nice and heavier to pack a punch, there is a reason guides in Canada carry shotguns with 3 1/2" slugs and buckshot.

Already covered this look back at my post.

I've strapped them to the top of my Pontiac Vibe, no blood tho. You have to do what you have to do. DEC straps them to a cargo rack on the back of their SUV.

Going to the range this morning

I'll be shooting the .243 this weekend just to make sure she is on. Thinking about taking the old slug gun out too but the cost of Sabots has me saying no. -
Nice, I'm planning on hunting 8F this weekend just outside of Newark. Definitely bringing the rattling antlers!

Sorry I missed that, Chris was the one saying it wasn't a firearm or something of the sort.

haha I don't mind reading it but you guys can't argue the law as laid out by DEC. People can't interpret the law as they see fit, if they do they will be in a world of shock when they are ticketed/arrested.
-
But wasn't your argument about taking both into the field while bowhunting before crossbow is open for deer? No one is arguing the fact that when both are legal for the game in question because well there is no argument it's obvious the answer. The argument was started over taking a crossbow and bow into the field while it was bow only.
-
It used to be innocent until proven guilty, I think it is the other way around nowadays. I can also see where DEC is doing it to keep poachers from playing the loophole game and being able to ticket them for wrong doing. I agree 100% with the law it keeps honest people honest (kind of like a lock) there are people that don't care and will do what they want and if caught will pay the price.

Holy crap did you 2 read my post? It is from the regs copied and pasted word for word! There is no what if's or buts. It is what it is! Lock this thing up already!
-
I totally missed the link, I was just commenting thinking it was a newbie to the forum. haha they got one over on a lot of us or none of us paid attention to the OP.
-
Well they callout the crossbow set back directly so I would think that is the case for that but I could see where someone would be the 500. The thing is though you wouldn't get a ticket for discharging the crossbow at 500' if you followed that law, where you would with the carrying it afield while bowhunting.

I have the roku and downloaded the bowhunting.com app and they have some great episodes on there. I don't think I had to have a subscription to cable. There is also Carbon TV which is filled with a bunch of outdoors shows. There are a few others just can't remember the names. If you're interested I can get them for you.

Put your deer decoy next to his stand to shoot at or make one out of cardboard for the kid, be sure to include some nice head gear.
