  1. Thanks for the help I'll look into the book. Right now my Nosler and Sierra reloading manuals have all the dimensions for the cases, but I will look into the book you mentioned more for annealing. When annealing the brass is there a point that the brass is too hot and is basically ruined? I was thinking that the carbide would be better to form the cases without needing to be lubed. I like saving money so the less i need to spend the better. I need to start annealing my .270 brass because the necks are starting to crack after 5 or 6 reloads.
  2. I have one of those little pocket poker games. I usually use that every 15 minutes or so. It gets boring when the computer keeps winning. I try to stay off my cell phone to conserve battery. I still only stay out for 4 hrs. max. During gun I try to stay out until 11am only because I want someone to bump a deer my way. My dad has stayed out the entire day during gun season and he usually sees deer the first 3 and last 3 hours of the day.
  3. I just picked up 2 of the primos proof 01 cams from dicks. They are made by bushnell and so far they have taken some great pictures. They are 10mp and a .7 trigger speed. Great little camera for the money. I paid $30 each after $30 mail-in rebate. It also has that time lapse photography and 720 hd video. If they last half as long as my Stealth cam (from 2002 and still ticking just blows thru batteries) I'll be happy.
  4. Here is a photo of 1 of 3 buck I passed although they weren't shot from my stand. I don't have a photo of the big 8 point he was around 130". Also saw the older 7 point with the busted browtine on the same sit. The first photo is the 2.5 I was talking about.
  5. No generally on our property by the time they are a 10 point they are 4.5 or 5.5 year old buck. We have one anomaly this year with a 2.5 year old being a heavy 8 point. If an 8 point at 3.5 he will be a monster by 4.5.
  6. I think in the 14 pages of the same argument and same information it is getting a little old. We are just beating a dead horse at this point. I agree maybe not delete maybe just lock it so if someone searches they will see.
  7. Passed 3 8 points last weekend, we have come to the consensus on our property that if it isn't a 10 it gets a pass.
  8. Honestly I could have taken several doe. If you are like me, I'm waiting until they go into heat to try and bring in a nice buck.
  9. Honestly at this point I'm surprised this thread isn't deleted yet, it is going nowhere. Obviously no one is changing their minds just people needing to get the last word. If not delete it lock it.
  10. NY didn't specify crossbow by WMU it was whole seasons only. The seasons last I knew were the same both years. It didn't specify antler or antlerless, you could assume it was the muzzleloaders but also the bow total went up ~ 2000 so that could mean the people that generally ML hunt got deer in bow season. My guess for the lower ML take was because of the doe only areas. I know that was why I and many others in my area didn't ML hunt. I'm usually one of those that buy a license and take at least 1 deer. It could have also been from the lack of deer sightings.
  11. I would love to give you the link I have actually posted the chart before but unfortunately the link is now dead on the PA game commission site. It was in part of their pilot study presentation as the conclusion when crossbows were first introduced full inclusion into their archery season. The information available now does not distinguish harvest by implement. Lets talk NYS instead. The numbers from 2014 crossbow harvest were 5,535 deer in 2015 it jumped up to 7,469 that is a 34.9% increase in crossbow harvests. This year will only confirm what most are saying that it will increase that much or more. Now with that the bow season remained close to the same harvest numbers (only 6.5% increase) meaning that people didn't leave their vertical bow to pickup a crossbow it lead to more people in the field resulting in more deer harvested. Regular season yielded a 13% decrease in harvests. So that being said it is safe to assume that the ~ 9000 deer difference has the majority to do with the gun hunters buying a crossbow to hunt with (there is a 2000 deer difference remaining which could have been new hunters). I know many of you will argue that's an assumption and start beating your chests and try to tear apart the numbers but these were all taken from the 2014 and 2015 harvest report. It is simple math so most of you should be able to fact check my numbers, the computer or phone you're using has a calculator.
  12. I will say that in PA it started out slow and it increased quickly in the first 5 years to the point where over 80% of deer taken during archery season were with a crossbow. @WNYBuckHunter what is your reason for wanting full inclusion so badly?
  13. You in 8X or 8Y? That is where I hunt and I can agree I see the same doe almost every sit and not any others maybe 1 buck if I'm lucky and that is on a 300 acre tract of land. On the state border WMU's you generally get 1 tag for that WMU then Pref. Points for the 2nd.
  14. Could be mistaken but I thought that was what @stoneam2006 was talking about. There would be exceptions in areas like that.
  15. If you are going to make anyone earn a buck that would make the most sense as there are more gun hunters than archers that would allow DEC to cull the deer herd numbers they want. It won't work in NY anyway not enough officers/man power to enforce.
  16. Personally I think the gun hunters should be a earn a buck not archery.
  17. Nickname and anniversary. You guys might laugh but I have never forgotten my anniversary. Now the year that's a different story. Real Name: Chaston
  18. But it shoots an arrow so it must be considered archery, you're a smart guy you can see what he and most of us are saying.
  19. There is no winning with you, it's like trying to get a Clinton loving liberal to vote for Trump it's not going to happen. To each their own, I hope for the sake of archery season it stays the way it is.
  20. I beg to differ on that part. Look at the number of deer killed with a x-bow since inclusion it started at a low percentage and slowly doubled now in the upper 80% range meaning that after full inclusion that was the weapon of choice and deer harvest numbers went up. I will try and find the graph that was put out by the PA game commission at the moment it is eluding me.
  21. I hit a deer 1 lung and it didn't go far. Only thing is it was directly beneath me and it went in the top of the lung and exited out the bottom towards the arm pit. It was a large doe she went about 70 yards and piled. How much blood did it start out with power painter type blood or droplets? Did it enter the side of the deer and exit out the opposite side, so it didn't enter and exit the same side of the deer like a glancing shot? Did it truly go 400 yards? That is a long way for a single lung hit, unless it was just purely a tenderloin hit. This is a 1 lung and aortic. In the top photo you can see the tip of the shoulder blade.

    Rut!

Glad I'm not the only one starting to feel it.
  23. My question is if/when it's full inclusion would they be allowed to use the either sex tag or will it remain for only bow? Full inclusion but allow the crossbow hunters to take only doe until the current season dates where they are allowed to shoot a buck. Bam problem solved.

    Rut!

There is usually this slight lull in action just before the rut starts up. I am hoping this weekend is the start and she goes all out next week. Might have to be sick next week I feel like I'm coming down with a little something.
