Well field and stream has this semi auto 12 gauge with 4 chokes for $299. I don't really "need" another shotgun but I have the pardner pump and for the price it is a great gun. I was looking at this for upland/geese/brush gun. Think it is worth it?

I like those glue traps they seem to catch a lot of mice for me in our tower stands when they chew through the wood siding.

2 Women Attacked By Coyote(s) in Wayne County

I have had a dog lock onto my arm using one of those biting guards like the cops use for training and I'll tell you what that thing is about 3x someones are and they can put plenty of pressure on it. the jaw may look frail but the way it is "designed" it is plenty strong enough to tear human flesh from bone. Personally I would rather the dog bite into my leg and allow me to still use both hands but if it came down to it the dog would tear any human to pieces quickly and god forbid there were 2. There would be no fighting back maybe protecting your face and neck because that will be the next place they go for. I get you would fight back but they are a lot stronger than you would think. All dogs can pull twice their body weight so that 40# dog can pull 80# (most people can't lift 2/3 their body weight) and with the will to survive the dog is going to fight to its last breath. -
I'll be in the woods, maybe not with my kid but waiting for someone to scare a deer my way. I figured I would have seen one on my first sit but notta. Can't wait until my son is big enough to do this with me.

The problem I am seeing with his forecast is he is using polls from more liberal sources. There is no way for someone to predict uncertainty because it is just that. There are too many variables to say who will win at this point. There is no way to do an accurate poll without bias. I know of too many people that are registered dem that refuse to vote for her but will not vote for trump. That tells me she will be loosing a an amount of votes how many no one knows until that ballet is punched or the lack of. The idea that we the people are in actually electing one of these candidates is a complete joke, the government already has this election won we just don't find out until the 8th.

The younger deer do on our property. The old wise ones however do not. They range more through the woods and I can't seem to nail down a pattern on mature bucks. Usually the mature bucks on our property usually bed in this one area that no one hunts (too thick and you would be crawling through the area). If you can figure out their bedding area and feeding area you setup somewhere in between. I have stands that have been in the same trees for the last 4 or 5 years, Chipper Jones refers to those type of trees as "killing trees".

I would believe it, buddy had a trespasser a couple years back put out an electric feeder about 60 yards into a thicket from him. DEC came walking out straight to his stand, asked him if he owned the property and starting writing a ticket. Well my buddy had a trail cam in the area and they checked it saw it wasn't my buddy and the DEC officers took the feeder and didn't ticket my buddy. If it weren't for that game cam he would have been screwed. They never did find the guy that put out the feeder.

S&W out of running for new US combat handgun
chas0218 replied to nyslowhand's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
I think they make drop in triggers for the sigs. My S&W SD9VE has an 8lbs. trigger and yes it is heavy but not unbearable. I have a S&W Bodyguard and that thing is insane on the length and pull of the trigger but it is a double action pistol so the firing mechanism is similar to that of a revolver making it a heavy trigger. Once you have a light trigger it is tough to shoot the heavier ones, but seems to be the opposite if you start heavy and go light. I really want an FNH in .40 but the price has kept me from buying one. For the price of one I could get 2 glocks, but they are really nice guns. -
Wanted to edit this yesterday but I meant Runnings in Canandaguia.

S&W out of running for new US combat handgun
chas0218 replied to nyslowhand's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
Call me a fanboy but I am a big glock guy. I have shot a ton of ammo through my glock and it just keeps chugging away round by round others not so much and needed to be cleaned more often. I would love to see a Glock in the hands of the best maybe it will put those "What is the best pistol?" arguments. Honestly I am surprised to see S&W out of the race they are one of the best and have been around the block a few times. Unfortunately I don't think it is all about reliability but also price. -
Are they itchy? I might have had 2 chigger bites on my back thinking they were spider bites. Mine didn't itch or anything just a couple red spots.

I haven't passed on one yet, and never will. Just to warn you guys during bow season if your arrow doesn't pass through expect the arrow to get chewed to crap. I shot one and pinned it to the ground and man was it pissed. It chewed my lighted nock and shaft into pieces.

Cabela's was the only brick and mortar store I bought from I'm buying local for now on, I can't stand BPS. Last time I was at BPS I stood in line to see a pistol for an hour at which I asked several times is there someone to help me and just get looked over the 3 or 4 people that walked up after me. The one other time I went in to ask about a long gun (Tikka T3 hunter) just to see if they could order and a few particulars about the gun (like did it include scope rings, and would they fit a standard 1" bore scope) and I was blown off like I didn't matter. This was all at the Auburn store so I can't speak for all BPS but my experience has less than satisfying each time. Field and Stream is a joke as well, glorified dick's. I'll be shopping at Runnings in Geneva, Beikirchs and a few local gun shops.

Iron sites or scope for deer hunting when and which you like better
chas0218 replied to LJC's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
I grew up shooting iron sights so I was used to them and out to 100 yards I didn't a scope. When I bought my rifle several years ago other than my .22 that was the only scoped gun I owned. I now have a scope on almost all my guns, not that I need it just because it takes the guess work out of longer shots. I like the variable zoom it allows me to utilize the effective range of the gun but the most important reasons for having one is the ability to aim quickly and humanely kill an animal. At 100 yards iron sights I could easily shoot a 4" group with my shotgun and sabots, with a scope it pulls it down to 1.5"-2" -
My Alpen binos, they have saved me from bumping deer more times than I can count.

You should defnitely get new cables. The shop I usually go to put on new cables for me and put one on backwards (new guy) and it cut itself worse than that and I didn't feel comfortable shooting it. They replaced it free of charge and put my old cables back on to get me by a week during bow season. I would not shoot it like that who knows what other strings are damaged under those layers. Depends on how bad you want it and if you can do it yourself. A new set of cables and a string will be a lot cheaper than a new bow. My bow is 9 years old this season and wouldn't trade it for any other bow, it draws so smooth and is plenty fast enough for me. Looking at the picture a 2nd time my cable was just as bad maybe a little less cut, you have a big set for drawing that back. I didn't even want to take mine out of the case afraid it was going to let go at any time.

Going to try a little self filming this season

Get one of those cheap spring clamps and mount it to that. I did that with a spot light on my boat. http://m.homedepot.com/p/HDX-2-in-Spring-Clamp-80002/100027346 Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk -

Yeah my dad's sycamore in his front yard drops a lot of leaves that size. The trunk is about 4' across. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

Deer on our property only lay up in the corn when it's gun season. Most of the time they run the rows about 20' in and follow them to where they want to go and use the corn as cover. Most of the deer I have bumped sit up on our hill side watching down the hill. In our swamp they like to bed against the big blow downs and head to the corn during the day. I have done this, I highly suggest mounting it to a hat brim instead. The problem I had was the vibration in the bow ends up making the shot blurry until you settle down and at that point the deer is gone. Take it out back and shoot her at a target and see what I mean. Maybe it was just my bow but it didn't work very good for me. Also trying to remember to follow the deer with the bow after the shot is hard to remember but you always follow the deer with your head.
