I would be more concerned about a good stock. A synthetic stock gets the nod for back country wet and humidity. I love blued with wood but I would be concerned my wood stock would swell in extremely wet and humid environments and causing my gun to shoot off. My next rifle will be stainless with hogue synthetic stock, not for looks but for functionality. One nice thing about stainless is it can take more shots to heat up the way a blued barrel does. Anyone know if the throat in a stainless rifle will last longer than a blued?

My 2011 500HO did that for 4 years until the battery finally went out. The new battery definitely turns her over faster. I don't know if the sales people are just that arrogant or they act it to try and get more money out of you. Either way they are a great machine and my HO has a ton of low end grunt. I have pulled a good amount of logs out of the woods using that where the tractor can't get too. I love mine and the handling. I also added a 2" lift and it made a huge difference in clearance. I actually got 2 more inches of ground clearance. I added the harbor freight 2500lbs. winch this past winter although I never needed, it is good insurance encase I bite off more than I can chew.

You can disagree all you want but those are facts. You also referenced traditional bows in the earlier post not the same as compounds I'm comparing compounds to crossbows. The powerstroke isn't that much shorter but produce much faster speeds 60% which makes up for the difference in the powerstroke. Also how does an arrow weighing 440 grains going 350 fps have less kinetic energy than a 400 grain arrow going 250fps. It's not hard to see the crossbow had the advantage. That's crap, your average vertical bow doesn't hold a candle when comparing drop. The crossbow hands down has the advantage in distance shooting.Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

Could not agree more. How many hunting state lands right now with a vertical bow complain about too many people? Just imagine them plus every tom, dick, and Harry out there on those same lands if crossbow got full inclusion. Also anyone preaching P.A. This P.A. that don't forget they have antler restrictions. I think it was outdoor news that put out an article about crossbows in N.Y. referencing the P.A. statistics. When it first rolled out down there the deer take was around 70% vertical bow the first year then some where around 50% the next then 17% the third year with a steady increasing amount of licenses issued. That tells me that it added more pressure to the bow season work more hunters per a square mile. This is all common sense, I enjoy hunting the deer during bow season because they are moving naturally and not needing to be pushed around. Full inclusion will be the death of bow season as it is now. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

Actually yes 2 posts said full inclusion would fix the over population issues.Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

Sticks shaped like guns and "Big Game hunts" and do I dare mention Cowboys and Indians? Smear the queer!

I did and it sounded like you were still giving people the opportunity to use a bow if they wanted to take a buck. I could have taken that the wrong way.Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

Or the lack of because people shot a buck with a rifle but tagged with archery tag. We can play devil's advocate all day and night but in reality DEC is going to do whatever they want not the people. They also aren't going to force landowners to allow access to their property period. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

I have shot a few and they aren't a whole lot harder to shoot than a gun. Granted they are bulkier but anyone proficient with a gun shouldn't have a hard time out to 60 yards. Ever shoot a bow that far? I do and it is a whole lot harder than the xbow at 60 yards. I'm not for them in archery season but have nothing against them in muzzleloader or use during gun season. This is similar to the guys and rifle inclusion. I was all for the use of rifles in 8F when many weren't. It doesn't sound as nearly like WW3 except for one property. I have found a lot less gun wounded deer but unfortunately still find my fair share of bow wounded deer. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

To get within 30 yards yes but there is no drawing making sure you get everything just right before you release that arrow making sure your coat isn't touching your string or something simple that could impact your shot. You don't have any of that just shoulder it and put the cross hairs and pull the trigger, really no different than a rifle or shotgun just a limited range. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

If I could afford to buy one this season I would use a xbow what is the point in owning a compound anymore no need to practice more than a couple times just cock and shoot. To me it was more about the ability to be stealthy and out play the game.

Here are the 2014 numbers for crossbow. Even if they they were all anterless (doe) harvest it would have had a minimal effect on herd numbers. -
Well seeing how the xbow is the save all to the herd population, why not just make all of gun season anterless only there that will surely fix the problem taking the gun part from the xbow and the ability of a firearm. I guess I should put the kool aid down now.

Arrested for Running over Dec Officer with ATV

I might be wrong but how I read it the kid was in a 4x4 vehicle (truck or maybe jeep) and the CO was patrolling on an ATV. -

He has my vote Same with my son, with fear comes respect and a conscience. I was raised with morals as I will do the same with my kid. When we were spanked it wasn't often but we deserved it. -
I'm looking for a clean burn and which ever powder will give me the best accuracy. The 4350 is a moderate burn rate where the 4895 is faster and the superformance is slow. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

I did load these on the minimum but I am not sure what that mag primer will do. I have been told 10% from max charge and others said account for 2 grains. Either way I am about 3-4 grains from max charge. I will definitely check for signs of over pressure.

These will be out of a 7600 game master.

So I finally went out and bought some Hornady 165 spitzer soft points to work up some 30-06 loads. I worked up 6 different loads in 3 different powders. I didn't have any non mag primers so I used the 10% rule and started low at the min charges. Obviously I will need to watch for pressure signs. These will be my first reloads for this gun and I am really looking forward to getting a nice whitetail load worked up for this gun. With these loads I am looking to see which groups best and cleanest. Unfortunately I won't be able to chrono these loads, anyone load the 30-06 in similar powder combinations or have a better combination they could recommend? Here is the list: IMR 4350 56gr. 57gr. IMR 4895 49gr. 50gr. Superformace 55gr. 56gr.

Haha yeah I know, I just wanted to try something different. I'm getting bored waiting for walleye season to start. No you're right the title was misleading, I was re sizing the .223 brass to .222. I tried going slower I'll give it another shot doing it in smaller increments. I'll naval my die out a few towns and do out turn by turn to see if that helps. I'll look into those dies, at my range there are always tons of .223 brass. I have a brass trimmer may look into one of those nice rcbs trimmers. Mine is a cheap one but does a nice job.Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

So I tried to re size .223 brass to .222 here is what happened. I don't think I would feel comfortable shooting this in my gun but I did this to see if it would work if I was in a bind. Obviously out did not. Has anyone else tried this with different results? Is there a better cartridge to try instead of the .223? Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
