Tractor or truck and a good chain give them a couple yanks and they should come out, dig around the base if need be.

Get a pressure washer and blast it off the brick!

Use some permectrin 2 around your home in a pump sprayer and your spiders will be gone. We use it around the cottage and on the boat because the spiders are always in large numbers near water.

I don't think the weather played as big a role as people are thinking. The deer just aren't there. I sat on stand in 2 different WMU's 1 being near my home (8X) another being at my parent's place (8F). At 8X I saw just as many deer as usual at 8F I didn't see anything near the numbers I had last year. I put in more seat time in 8F than any years past just to get a look at a good buck. I bow and gun hunt with 3 to 4 cameras in various locations. Here is what I observed in 8F, 4 bucks (ranging from spike to the 10 point i was after) and 5 doe (not inlcuding fawns 3 of them). So on our property 140 acres that covers over 1 square mile I saw 12 deer. In the past 2 years I have saw over of 20 while on stand in 1 evening. For them to tell me numbers in my area have gone up is bogus. In 8X it was the same old story 5 deer, 1 doe 2 fawns and 2 bucks all season long all that were shot by neighboring properties this was on a 300 acre tract of land. I have dedicated countless hours scouting locations for stands and have proven to be a proficient hunter with the "trophies" I have killed and the amount of meat I have in my freezer so take it for what it is worth but I don't believe the numbers that DEC puts out. When it comes to ARs they work no matter which way you try and cut it. Here is what I would like to see ARs temporary for 5 years no exceptions, if they work keep them if not get rid of them then everyone can be happy blasting button bucks and spikes again.

For me it isn't about filling the tag, how is that mentality any better than filling all your tags just because you can? Personally it is about the chase of that 1 deer that makes it all worth it. My trophy may not be the monster that makes record books but for where I hunt a trophy is a 4 1/2 or 5 1/2 year old deer with a larger rack, not to mention the wife said I can't mount a deer smaller than my other 130" deer.
-
Only reason we have big bucks (sad to call a deer in the 130" range big) in my area is because we practice AR on our property and most the neighboring properties do the same. Wait you mean to tell me it works crazy concept right? Only way for them to get bigger is to pass the smaller ones (120" or less).

The geese I have cooked and ate tasted great. I have cooked wild turkey various ways and they are okay nothing to jump up and down about. Best was smoked but still not amazing. Goose I have made into jerky, BBQ in crock pot, grilled, sauteed, a few other ways. More flexible in the ways it can be prepared. Turkey can't be done many other ways unless you are only feeding yourself. Both stink but when doing geese I have got to the point where the only piece of meat worth keeping are the breast so I split the skin cut out the 2 breast and done. No need to gut, pluck, or skin. To each their own but I haven't turkey hunted in probably 10 years instead I chase these guys, and they usually end up giving me 1 dinner per a fish.

The last time I was turkey hunting I had 2 ticks get embedded and the bird had some sort of lice. That was the last time I hunted turkey and took up walleye fishing. I would rather be on the boat catching fish than sitting in the tick infested woods calling for turkey that may or may not come in. Not to mention they stink and really don't taste great. If I were to hunt any birds I prefer geese, get a bunch of them in short time and make a great BBQ pulled goose.

Love the show, Mountian Men, Yukon Men, and Alaska the Last Fronteir. Those are only 3 shows I DVR but it still seems to fill up with all those dumb medical shows and of course the wife likes to delete one of my 3 shows instead of her 20. The ALTLF is getting a little old but neat to see how they do the homesteading thing.

Yamaha 700 Kodiak input
chas0218 replied to Fletch's topic in ATV's , UTV's, Dirtbikes & Snowmobiles
Just curious, what made you dislike the Polaris(s) you ownded so much? Only downfall I have found is the amount of grease zerks, it takes forever to grease them all at least a good hour. They are a nice heavy machine very capable of doing most jobs for people and have a very loyal following. My father has a big bear and my grandfather an old moto-4 both Yamahas both serve a purpose and run great. My Polaris is a 2011 so a little newer with low hours and miles I never really abuse it except when pulling logs for firewood or discing food plots. I'm making a pull behind skidder to help with the heavy logs. We use it in the summer to launch the Jet Skis over the bank at my father-in-laws cottage and run back and forth to the pole barn getting tools or whatever and the wife uses for various jobs pulling the garden cart around. -

Not sure if that kodiak is efi or not but the 570 polaris is and makes gobs of power for the displacment. I have a 500ho and the thing is a beast. I have a 30 gallon sprayer I have mounted to the back rack to spray plots without issues along with pulling various drags, disc harrow, 1 bottom plow. It is a great little machine as is the Yamahas just something to think about. -
My buddy sent me a photo of a doe and twins about 3 weeks ago. I am betting they were the first to drop in that area, they were really small like 8lbs dog small.

Make America Mexico Again

And can you guess who they are voting for? -
What type and color stain did you use? I would like to darken the antlers as it sat outside and got bleached out pretty good.

Pick up the old fishing rod and take a day off and fish! Usually that clears my head and calms me down. Lets me take a step back from the situation and access what needs to happen. Just a man, his thoughts, and a fishing pole.

Really what's the game?
chas0218 replied to G-Man's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Too many Bernie supporters that won't vote for Hillary, what might happen is Bernie runs for 3rd party and divides the dem party and therefore both Hillary and Bernie loosing, I don't there are enough swing voters that support the way of thinking for Hillary. Many swing voters are of the younger gerneration 30-40 years of age which mostly support Bernie which will pull many from both parties but the majority dem. Either way I will be interested to see what happens, personally I think if Hillary gets the nod there is no way she will win. -
Good to know, I wanted to get an ol' wildcat round but was a little weary about the throat eroding quickly. I was looking into the tikka t3 lite stainless in 25-06 but didn't want the barrel to burn out too quickly. I don't shoot a lot but around 50 rounds/year and I wanted it to last until my son was old enough to use it.

My mom's taco just had a full frame replacement, and leaf springs. They were both recalled, sounds like they haven't figured out how to keep the frames from rotting out in the rust belt. Those imports have some serious spaghetti frames. If I were going to just drive it as a grocery getter and not haul then it wouldn't be bad. How much can the taco haul/tow compared to the rado? Looks about the same long as the taco has the V6.

Haha I know better than to use 38 special ammo in my little .380 ACP I was just talking about the bullet itself.
-
Ok sounds good, I wasn't sure but I'll take your advice and buy the .380 bullets.

I say he is SOL, if he is a good friend I would refund the money just to keep the peace but if they are a complete stranger I wouldn't. I only say this because you should be able to trust a friend where a stranger he could have screwed up and broke it and just want to fix his mistake.

I have been looking for some nice HP .380 bullets and no one seems to stock them. I have looked at gun shops, brick and motar, you name it notta. So I was going to ask if anyone has thought about using .38 special bullets? They are literally .002-.003 larger but come in the same bullet weights as the .380 and a bunch of different bullet shapes. That .002 shouldn't make a difference but thought I would throw it out there. The 380 is the same diameter as 9mm but 9mm doesn't go down to 95 grains.

60 pounds of tannerite makes a loud boom !
chas0218 replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in General Chit Chat
There was a guy on youtube that leveled a barn using it...164lbs. to be exact. You guys do know you can make the same stuff for a lot cheaper. All it is is nitrogen fert. and aluminum powder. You can make the aluminum powder with an old blender and aluminum foil or just buy it on amazon. -
Opened up the cottage, got all the water running, got the dock in, and the boat rail system. All the stuff I generally do the opening weekend of walleye is done. Now I just need to work on our kitchen island everything else is ready for some fish fillets to hit the freezer, except the boat. I guess that is next.
