  1. Yup almost all of it. Only thing I can't reload cheaper is 9mm. Cheaper is the best benefit but also repeatability. If my loads are all loaded to a certian spec and shoot like crap I know it is me or the bullet/powder. Nice to fine tune a round to a specific gun. Also you can load up rounds not commercially available. I currently reload my 9mm in 147 JHP I cannot find any that are reasonably priced.
  2. I have heard good things about AR platform and 300 AAC. You won't be shooting over 100 yards at night so this would be my next round.
  3. That was my thought. I am already 1 1/2" high with sighting in at 100 yards.
  4. I understand that but if I were to sight in that high at 100 yards then it would be another 2"+ at 50 yards or less. I have on numerous occasions had shots in the 30yard range. Although for a rifle it is a chip shot but I would need to aim under the deer and in the heat of the moment one might forget that. I like to be able to put my crosshairs on the animal where I intended to shoot it. I hunt my bow stands with my rifle and deer are generally within 50 yards. Like I mentioned there are always exceptions.
  5. That and it is a huge area with mostly Apple and AG fields so lots of crop damage. If you ever drive down 104 look for all the apple orchards.
  6. Remington 870 express mag in 20ga. with rifled slug and the bird barrel with those screw on rifle sights. I actually took a lot of deer with that gun until 3 or 4 years ago when they allowed rifle in 8F. Love that gun, 2 years after starting to deer hunt I bought a hastings rifled barrel. I could drive tacks with the open sights out to 200 yards. Man that gun can shoot with that long hastings barrel!
  7. I agree but I sight in for 100 yards because most of my shots are 100 or less. Now saying that I have taken deer deer at 355 yards and 420ish (rangefinder was bouncing 420 to 425.) Without the BDC I would have never hit those deer. You would be surprised how much that bullet drops after 200 yards. Could I eliminate the BDC and just target my gun in for 200/250 and aim a little high? of course but the problem I have then anything 50 yards or less is 6"+ high. This was all with my tikka t3 in .270 winchester. Granted if you were shooting something a lot hotter (.300 win. mag. or something larger) you wouldn't have to worry about it but I don't use artillary to shoot deer and what fun is it if you don't miss once and a while. To each their own but once you get used to shooting a gun with specific equipment a certain way it is 2nd nature and all muscle memory.
  8. VX-II and the pro staff are about the same clarity wise I have looked thru both side by side and I can't tell the difference. My buddy has an older VX-III and it is a little clearer but at that point you are just splitting hairs. The Prostaff for the money is a good scope and I'm not sure but I don't think the VX-I or VX-II have the BDC style reticle and that is worth its weight in gold. At least in my hunting situations I have used it. Also the objective size is the only thing that will allow you to see better in low light situations. Bigger Objective more light. You won't be able to tell the difference between 40mm and 42mm.
  9. Now call me crazy but is Obama and the leftist trying to arm the country to make sure other countries know not to mess with us. If they are it is definitely working!
  10. I like 40mm objective at a minimum. 2nd photo makes it look like a BB gun scope.
  11. I submitted mine the day it was posted.
  12. Which model FN were you shooting? I shot the 43 with +P and with it having a larger and heavier upper than most pocket sized 9mm it handled them better than the sheild. I have never shot a FN but looking at them they are a little bigger and heavier than the 43 or shield. Either way it took longer than my SD9VE to get back on target.
  13. I wouldn't want to carry a single stack 9mm with +P too light and too much bullet to get back on target fast enough same goes for super heavier rounds. There is a reason why so many self defense rounds are lighter bullets or a.k.a. reduced recoil. Sent from my GT-P5113 using Tapatalk
  14. I don't see a need to start a new thread. We are recommending a certain gun for a niche, I was commenting on how the guns draw differently and what he single practice when consider buying a gun.
  15. That is the best thing you can do, practice, practice , practice. I would also recommend someone to practice drawing with different clothes on. Everyone should also practice drawing and having the sights lined up. If you have a gun and don't draw it a lot you would be surprised how off your sights are on first draw and how long it takes to to line them up. I have tried to draw at the range with my winter coat on and it was super clumsy and time consuming until I get my gun out. I will say a Front IWB is much faster than behind the back IWB. Al
  16. What incentive would it be to shoot a doe if you have to pay for it when you get 2 buck tags? I would still rather shoot a doe in 40-50 degree weather than 70*.
  17. You got it! haha I edited it shortly after you responded.
  18. I always have one chambered, in the heat of the moment you are going to remember you need to chamber a round or just try to start shooting. I like to have my guns setup the same so no matter which gun I pick up it is the same set of movements. Also doubles for my wife, i have a round chambered and she knows it so she knows she can just pick up the gun and shoot. My .380 has around a 10lbs. trigger and I never have the safety on it. If it had a lighter trigger I would carry it with the safety on.
  19. No thank you. I would rather not shoot a deer when it is 70* outside and have to deal with taking care of it immediately. Here is another idea lets not charge for DMP's I mean if you want doe dead why would it be a privilege to shoot a doe and have to pay for it. Charge for the buck tag! I'm sure this will torque some shorts!
  20. I hunt 8N and 8F both properties had very low deer numbers from what I could see. I put in just as many if not more hours in the stand this year and saw 1/4 the deer I have in the past. Next year get your doe tags and extras and just call them all in. It's a bunch of crap.
  21. The one that dropped an antler the same as in the pictures #2 and #3? They look like they could be the same, but the buck in #2, and #3 looks like his brows are taller
  22. Thoughts and prayers their way, never take things in life for granted they could be gone the next day. Being a new father leaving my wife and son in some sort of accident is one of my biggest fears.
  23. That is why i bought my glock and sdve. both have the safety trigger. It won't go off (shouldn't go off) without the trigger being depressed. Also that is the only safety so no lever to hit while trying to shoot it just pull the trigger until they fall.
  24. With my .380 I have shot out to 20 yards and could cover them with my fist. Here is a 20 yard group.
