I actually think the exact opposite. I think the "good" part on NYS is all North and West of NYC. Until you've lived and worked in the 5 boroughs, you have no real idea of just how stupid people are. It's mind boggling. I think everyone in the city should measure themselves to the good, hard working folks, with strong family values that live and work in the majority of the state. -

IMHO, Biz and I got it pretty good. We're less than an hours drive from some of, if not, the best food and entertainment and the most beautiful women in the western hemisphere. And, in my case, don't know about Biz, I still have about 100 acres of land to bow hunt on literally 20' out my back door. I also have several excellent fresh water fisheries in the way of reservoirs just minutes from my door. Saltwater fishing less than an hour away too. No, we don't have the corn fields and big woods that they do further north and west, but we have some pretty nice deer and turkey around here too. And we make enough money to retire at or around age 50 and move somewhere that won't tax us to death. And, traffic ain't bad if you know the secrets, have lights and sirens, or both. -
Yes. ASK stickers all over the place where I went to school up in St. Lawrence County

How 'bout beer? -
Everytime. Sometimes more than once.

I say let em both walk. They both look young to me and the one in the foreground has the potential to grow into a real specimen. If someone else doesnt cut his life short with their car or weapon.

I think he's considering the little skippy in the background. Looks like a wee little spikehorn.

Crazy hunting tactic that has worked (or almost worked)?

Cool story, that's a hell of a buck. Is that public land? -
I dont know why everything on this site has to turn into a pissing match. Into a "I would've done this, you should've done that. Im right, youre wrong,". Bottom line, you shot an incredible animal and lost it, fault being irrelevant, and now you have a bitter memory that you'll never be able to forget. If you're anything like me, it will haunt you forever and stay fresh in your mind for years to come. It will jump to the front of your mind and make you cringe at the strangest most random times too, and everytime it will suck as much as the last.

I learned that you can't let your arrows fly until your clock strikes that magic number. And you can't shoot after your clock reads that other magic number. No matter how well you can see and no matter how many minutes or seconds you are within that magic number.

Id like to get one of these for next season jsut so that I can bring my 6 year old, will be 7 next season. He is dying to come with me. I just now he wont be able to sit terrible still for long. So, I'll need something to hide his movement.
-
Fair enough. I dont think that, if you go back and look, you can tie me to any of these previous occasions.
-
Is it true tha they must be updated each year? And that there can be no more than 100' between signs? I haven't checked any of this, just things Ive heard over the years.

You're not the problem, you're creating the problem. No one was adressing you, nor asking for your input. You just offered your commentary. I just happen to have excellent eye sight and extensive experience in tick indentification and removal.

Like a fist full of pennies? Who said anything about sex? Get your mind out of the gutter.

So what's the verdict on barometric pressure and deer movement/activity? I've always subscribed to the belief that deer move most as the low pressure systems are moving in and the pressure in dropping. It looks like Saturday nigh into Sunday will bring a pretty signifcant trough, if you will, with the pressure dropping over Saturday night and bottoming out around 29.7 on Sunday. So, what say ye about barometric pressures?

From now on, call me upon exiting the woods. I'll come right over and check you for ticks.

What bullet are you using this season

Federal "Mossy Oak" Deer Thug ammo. .300 win mag. 180 grain. It's what they had at Wal-Mart. I'd like some of that fancy(expensive) ammo with the cute little neon green tips, but I can't find it anywhere around here. -
Gun of a lifetime dissapointment

You and I are quite different. A: After the second mistake, if I was spending that kind of cabbage, I'd have told them "Thanks, but no thanks,". I would have taken my money and said good riddens. B. To each his own, but I buy a gun to use for hunting. I plan on laying it on the ground or dragging it with me when I get on my hands and knees to get through some nasty thick stuff, I plan on using it in the rain and snow, and I plan on being fairly rough with it/on it as I am with most things I own. That being said, I would never spend north of $1,000 on a gun unless it was capable of something ungodly. Some of the best guns I have ever owned, i.e. Remington 870 Express 12 and 20 gauge, have cost me less than $500. Again, not knocking you and to each his own, but I would run from this company and not be looking back. -
Oh come on! They're not bad at all. I've been in a climber since the 90s. Can't beat em.
