  1. Where in Chenango? I'm in South New Berlin. Saw a small buck before legal light on opening morning. That was it for the weekend.
  2. Probably done in less than 2 hours too. Especially if you've got help.
  3. I've been doing them for years. Get the torch. If you're the chef you say, you'll be just fine.
  4. Saw 4 does this morning. No bucks anywhere in sight and no response from the does to any sorry of grunting or bleating.
  5. I'll be out in 3s this afternoon and tomorrow morning, hopefully tomorrow afternoon too. Hopefully Shawnhu is right.
  6. Same, but my drag is all uphill. I need a wheeler.
  7. I have an RWS-DIANA that's 30 years old and knocks nickels off a log all day at 50yrds.

    8pt down

Nice. I was in 7p too all weekend. Up in South New Berlin. Saw a small buck just before sunrise on Saturday morning. Nothing after that. Congratulations.
  10. I have a 1941 Farmall H. Runs like a champ.
  11. Did you get the buck in your avatar down here?
  12. I am never getting out of this God forsaken office. I want to get home and get on the road North. Im losing it over here!
  13. Welcome. I too live and hunt Westchester. There's a few of us here.
  14. I guess it could also depend on where you hit the lung. My rib went through the top of my lung. The doctors said that about 30% of my lung collapsed, but the rest of it was still functioning. I imagine a deers lung would function in a similar fashion.
  15. I dont think that I would either. My friend has a ranch in TX and they shoot a lot of exotics off the feeders. They take head shots regularly. I'm just curious. I'm shooting just as I would with the bow. Can't beat double lungers.
  16. Not joking here, but if your confident enough in your abilities, what about head shots? I guess the margin for error may be a little to great to consider it an ethical shot. A quick move by the deer at that last split second and you could end up just blowing its nose off.
  17. I kind if doubt it, but maybe. At the time I was fighting with everything I had to not lose conciousness. I honestly felt that if I passed out, I wasn't waking up. But, who knows. Ive seen people live through way worse. I certainly would have been very uncomfortable and in a lot of pain for a long time. All that was done for me at the hospital was morphine, and they put in a hiemlic(sp?) valve to allow the blood and what not to drain from my lung. That and X-rays and stuff. I was completely out of it, so I guess some other stuff might have been done too, but I honestly have no idea what.
  18. I tend to agree. But, I have had no choice a time or two and was never worse for the wear. Also, sometimes in the past I would hang a deer or two when it was <32F outside and wasnt going to get above 32F for a while. By the time I can get to process the dear, they were frozen solid, through and through. We would defrost them, process them, and then package them to be refrozen. Again, never any issues or noticible difference in flavor or tenderness.
  19. Mine just looks and sniffs around behind the TV when he hears animals making noises on the TV.
  20. It means you just have to add water. Duh.
