  1. How many cell linked cameras you looking to put up? If just one or two, I think the Spypoint Link is a good choice as it is activated out of the box, and gives you 100 free pics each month. I'm happy with mine. I do admit I am considering upgrading to the Cuddelink system for its ability to connect multiple cams to one cell account.
  2. I am not the expert, but tell you what I know. If shipping, the gun gets dropped off at a ffl, they ship it to a second ffl near buyer, that ffl gives gun to buyer. you take care of payment for gun directly, not through ffl. ffl's charge what they want, anywhere from like $35 to $65 each end. Best deal, if they still do it, is to use Gander World as the ffl, shipping from and to a a Gander World store, if that is convenient for both buyer and seller. I did it with Gander Mountain years ago. It was cheaper that way. I would assume Cabela's would also work.
  3. looks like same plaza. El Ranchito is 408 Evans. Blue is/was 424 Evans
  4. And a new verb is born unto the world . . . .
  5. I am a big fan of the CZ 75 PCR. It seems to be like a natural extension of your arm when aiming, if that makes any sense.
  6. happy birthday, Jay. will we get a pic of you blowing out the candles?
  7. Anyone ever hear of it? http://www.fingerlakeswhitetailhunting.com Any thoughts about it? Would this be considered "high fence" hunting? 4-day hunt for $1,500. 4 hunters at a time get access to 2,000 acres on NE coast of Cayuga Lake, if I read it right. So I guess you have to pee from your stand. Good luck if you need to do #2. I've been doing some research on "hunting clubs" in NYS, and this is the only one I've found in the Southern Zone so far.
  8. Anyone hunt King Ferry co-op land this year? How did it go? Do you use your regular buck tag and 7H doe tags, or does the co-op issue its own "tags"? Do you get assigned to a numbered parcel? It sounds like each parcel even has a designated parking area? Thanks in advance.
  9. On the land I currently hunt, over the course of the season the overgrowth in the fields has thinned out considerably, and I've seen a tremendous amount of deer trails crisscrossing the fields and through the hedge rows. So much so that I wonder if some are leftover from the prior year. Could that be the case? Or more likely, if it's a noticeable trail, then it's from this year? Unfortunately, I never got a decent amount of snow this year, which would have been useful for identifying active deer trails. Also, for off-season scouting purposes, can I forgo the scent control? Is it OK to go in what I believe to be "sanctuary" areas?
  10. I've had a bunch of noob questions about hunting on "public land" that have been floating around in my brain for a while. I realize different types of public land may have there own rules, but I am trying to keep it generic. I don't expect one person to answer all of my questions, but please take a shot at what you can/are willing. Thanks in advance for your responses to any of them. 1. how much scouting do you do of an area? preseason? during the season? 2. What time (minutes before sunrise) do you walk in in the morning? What if the official park open time is sunrise? 3. How far is is recommended to walk in (distance and or timewise)? Do you pack some of your layers in a backpack so to not overheat? 4. Is it common or advisable to hunt till sundown, so you are walking out in the dark? 5. Is it allowed, common or advisable to bring in a sled or deer cart? chain it to a tree? leave it overnight? 6. Is it allowed, common or advisable to leave the following overnight?: a. hanging stand (but maybe walk in with the ladder/sticks part)? b. climber stand. c. popup blind 7. Is it allowed, common or advisable to make a natural blind with downed trees and branches? 8. How common is it to hunt on the ground vs. in a tree? 9. Is it allowed, common or advisable to put out trail cams? with locks, fwiw? 10. Has anyone ever hunted on public land where you legally camped overnight and then hunted in the same area? 11. Is it better to hunt weekdays instead of weekends? 12. Any internet source that discusses which public lands are better for deer hunting than others? Particularly in WNY? Or is that not generally discussed as hunters don't want to let others know about their good spot? 13. Is it allowed, common or advisable to enter the public land from other than the parking lot, if any? From the side of the road? Have someone drop you off so you can enter different than the parking lot?
  11. In addition to a benefit, consider setting up a gofundme account for him. https://www.gofundme.com/ A lot of folks who might not go to a benefit may contribute online.
  12. Hang in there, mowin. I can very much appreciate your pain. I am hopeful it will get better over time. You have a good point about waiting and the name will come to you. A week after we got our dog, I had to go out of town for a week. When I came back to the house and walked through the door, the dog started making excited little squeaking noises. From that point on, I usually called him Squeaky or Squeaker. I guess it was a good thing we had already named him beforehand!
  13. Wooooolly, bully, Wooly Wooly. Happy birthday, Wooly!
  14. Gift addendum. My niece got me a wifi endoscope, which is kind of intriguing. It's a nice one. Useful for seeing inside walls. Not sure when I will use it, but it's one of those things that when you need one, it comes in handy. MIL got me a large buffalo statue/piggy bank along with a bag of Buffalo nickels.. It will go in wife's office. Wife got me an electric knife sharpener, same as the one we have on the kitchen counter. We will look to exchange that one. And that should be a wrap for Christmas 2018.
  15. My favorite is 7 layer cookies aka Hello Dolly bars. When my mom made them when I was a kid, she called them 7 layer cookies. When I told my wife about them, she said they are the same thing as Hello Dolly bars. She made some for me this week. For Christmas, I've fallen off the keto wagon and am laying in the ditch with cookies.
  16. Happy birthday and Merry Christmas, Wolc. May your day be filled with happiness and good cheer.
