  1. Sounds like you got some nice gifts that you will enjoy, both now and later on/ongoing. That's great. One clarification I'd like to make: I don't want anything, I don't ask for anything, I don't expect anything, and honestly, I'd prefer extended family not give me anything. So I don't see how I would be considered "thinking of myself". That I don't get the Spirit of Christmas is a fair statement. A few years back I got a coffee cup from my MIL that said "Bah Humbug". I liked that one. I guess I did a poor job of wording the post title. It has a negative connotation to it. I changed it to "What did you get for Christmas?"
  2. I checked. Looks like no one started a thread like this yet so I will. Got some gifts from extended family today. I am very tough to buy for. Regardless, my MIL gets me stuff every year. Most of which ends of being donated, given away, put into storage or discarded. This year, she got me a long sleeve tee shirt with a buffalo on it. It's too small, as usual, but wife wants it. Then she got me a 14"x11"photo of a deer mounted on canvas. Not much into art. First person to pm me can have it. BIL got me a custom "Goose's hunting lodge" glass, which was OK, and a "survival kit" for which I am sure he overpaid. Yeah, not a gracious gift getter. We will see what the wife got me in the morning.
  3. Merry Christmas, everyone. Pet owners, take a moment to reflect upon how your pets are a gift.
  4. Don't mean to derail the thread, but do "hunting clubs" the way you describe exist in NY? Any you could recommend or at least name? That could be an alternative for the OP and others.
  5. I think that's doable. I'd be interested, but know nothing about where to go, what to hunt.
  6. Too bad you didn't come to the Goat last night. Our group pic could have ended up like this
  7. That's an interesting idea. However, unless there is a core group of people who decide when and where to go, I think that would truly be an exercise in herding cats.
  8. how about a bourbon blueberry glaze? https://www.epicurious.com/recipes/member/views/pork-chops-with-bourbon-blueberry-glaze-52417271
  9. I took my leftover berbere wings from the Yelling Goat, heated them up in the toaster oven, and then applied a traditional Buffalo wing sauce. My wife loved it. Unfortunately, I doubt I will be able to replicate it. Also had some keto-friendly stuffed banana pepper soup with it.
  10. I have the same issues and challenges with my property. Hasn't snowed much this year, either, which usually helps to knock down the goldenrod. Now that the vegetation is thinned out, it is amazing to see all of the deer trails. Any way to tell if a deer trail is more than a year old? Hard to believe they are all active given how distinct and used they look.

  12. Thinking about how last night ended, I think this pic sums it up. You decide which ones are TCIII, TF and sodfather:
  13. Here is the official group pic. I have the list of names, but there are a few that I am not sure about. Waiting on TF to review. From sodfather's post, that might be later in the day . . . .
  14. Put a fork in me, I'm done for the season. I am grateful for the doe I harvested the first day of shotgun, and that my land yielded five deer total (harvested by me and others) this year.
  15. Going out for last hurrah in 9A. Cold and windy, no snow. Hoping they'll be moving today.
  16. link to article Is it that simple? What about global warming as a factor?
  17. If you are early, I highly recommend you check out Jack's World on 32nd St. Not sure if it sells anything for 99 cents anymore, but it was my favorite store for a long time.
  18. Thanks, @dbHunterNY! If you ever want to do some freelance land management consulting in Niagara County, I could use your expertise on my existing hunting land.
  19. Be patient and have faith, not saying that's easy. Better they found the issue now than not have found it.
  20. yes, power lines. looks like they own their land, so I should have an easement to cross it. Re the back corner piece, already asked, they don't want to sell. they own the big parcel to the South.
  21. You mean to 6 acres to the SE? I thought it was, too. It is owned by the same company that owns the big parcel to the S of it. A big onion farm in Genessee co. The wife of one of the owners told me "they never sell anything . . . ." To me, it seems like they could live without that six acres. Maybe I could get access rights from them.
