Are women's hunting jackets cut differently than men's?
goosifer replied to goosifer's topic in Deals, Coupons and Specials
yeah, my wife said they'd be bigger in the front chest and rear end, and smaller in the shoulders. smaller shoulders is the deal killer. good deal, though, for a light jacket or layer for someone. -
Other than the word "Gander" in the name and the location, I think it will be a whole new store, for bettor or for worse. Remember, they liquidated all the inventory and the fixtures.

I had heard that the new owner was looking to incorporate its RV business with the Gander Outdoors stores. For the Tonawanda location, they were looking at the old BJs space in the same plaza but towards the back. Much more room to put out RVs. Not sure if that will happen or not, but that's what I had heard. Will be convenient to have that store come back in some form.

that's great info, nyslowhand. thank you. good to have alternatives to youtube to host videos.

TCIII, I feel your pain. Me and the dog can only eat so much.

https://www.meatsandsausages.com/sausage-recipes/chorizo-mexican For the white vinegar, I substituted Frank's hot sauce. So it was a little Buffalo wingy, but the garlic, et al still came through. It would have gone well with with a white melting queso or jack cheese, but I didn't have any handy. I made 3# with some venison, pork and pork fat leftover from my big sausage day.

The video cuts off before they announce the winner. Which contestant were you?

So, you may remember my muzzleloader buck from a few weeks ago That I shot from 150 yards away: This is what he looked like after processing (sorry ) So at this point I was done. My one hunting buddy kept encouraging me to do something with the rack. Now, it's a nice rack, but my wife only tolerates so much. So I let him have it. He said he was going to try doing a European mount from scratch. He sent me several pictures of his progress, and I soon realized he was making it for me. So I graciously accepted it, and my wife even let me hang it in my office instead of the garage. (If you look to the right of the mount, its the picture after I shot. He mounted the head on a dowel that was at an angle, so when you walk into my office, it looks like its looking at you. Unique, for sure. A very nice and unexpected memento.

Other than age, what could cause a buck to shed its antlers earlier than usual? Lack of nutrients earlier in the season? Abrupt onset of cold weather?
-
Yes, there is a definitely a difference with snow tires. It hadn't occurred to me that I needed them, but it is something I will consider.

Older Honda SUV with all wheel drive with goodyear assurance cs tripletred all-season tires. I guess I was just going a little too fast for the weather conditions.

I got the Cabela's grinder foot pedal: link They are annoyingly expensive, but very useful if you are using the grinder to stuff casings. I wonder how hard it would be to rig a foot pedal from an old sewing machine. Basically the same thing.

Steve D, you inspired me. I was looking for warmer socks so I will give the Heat Holders a try. Interestingly, I found the best price from a company in England. $36 for three pairs of the long ones. link

Deer hunting in Tompkins County DMFA January 13-31, 2018

What are your thoughts on Buttermilk Falls Park and Robert H. Treman Park as places to hunt? Undesirable because of bow only restriction? Overcrowded? -

Info regarding getting access to Cornell lands (multiple sprinkled throughout the area; some in the DMFA, some not) is here. A bit of red tape, but could be worth it. -
I've used both the grinder and a dedicated stuffer. If you go the stuffer route, buy a couple of giant C clamps to clamp the stuffer to the work surface. Otherwise, it is a two person job, one to hold the stuffer steady and a second to crank the handle. (I've done the stuffer by myself, and it's not fun.) I bought one like this on Ebay for $100: link

After 4-6 weeks of curing, they will lose 35-40% of their weight, so ultimately not as big as they look.

will do.
