  1. Yeah, and unfortunately we live in a throw-away society because most items nowadays are junk, and not made to last. I can absolutely see your frustration with the hammer! My grandpa was actually a carpenter building homes for over 30 years after the service, and when he moved from PA. I would be upset to seeing it lying around, hell even at work with meaningless work tools I get annoyed enough when people throw them around, etc.
  2. Log home here too, pellets burning, and contemplating a wood stove for the basement actually.
  3. Thats really cool, sounds like this sparked some memories. I just simply enjoy this primitive type tree, means a whole lot more from your own land in our opinion. My girlfriend, and I have only been together a few years, so its a special time for us.
  4. We were hit really hard last winter with heavy snow, trashed the area badly, so yeah it screwed up the young pines. We have absolutely crap soil in this area too, so between the two, it doesnt produce the most perfect post card pines.....we love it though, makes it fun.
  5. Exactly. Its just a simple fun young tradition.
  6. We each year go out back on our property, and cut a Christmas tree for our home. It is basically a Charlie Brown tree, we love it, and thought it woud be cool to share. it is a double trunk tree, pretty neat.
  7. Just some BS i through together. A quesadilla with Jenn’s homemade salsa, taco meat with my dry rub, and swiss. Through glops of mighty taco sauce from TF! Thank you Jay! About to decorate our tree!
  8. Also if Barryville is not too far Il Castello’s for italian is my favorite restaurant. GREAT pizza is an understatement, and there dishes are also very good, surprising for the area.
  9. Absolutely! Couldn’t agree more, these hooks mean the world to me.
  10. I just wanted to share a little something that I aquired from my dad tonight. I don’t post much about smoking meats, and processing etc. partly due to the fact that my father, and I use venison for making homemade smoked snack sticks, home made smoked sausage, etc and how we both are not successful huntersas far as harvesting goes. Anyways, my grandpa grew up in PA near Lancaster, and was raised on the farm making home smoked, and cured meats, pickled foods, scrapple, and so on. These meat hooks were my dad’s great grandparents, and they used them to hang meat in their smokers. My dad has used a few of them over the years as well, and he gave me a couple that he used, in addition to a few he has not used. These may not look like much, but these are unbelievably meaningful, and I cannot be happier to display them in my home. I just wanted to share, dad says they have to be over a hundred years old.
