Good bit of info to take into consideration. If I can get up there again for just a one day still hunt, I would be going just for the experience. I am aware of the risks/dangers, though.

@wolc123 We might be headed back up, but I tend to doubt it, my dad is headed home today. I want to head back up actually, but don’t forsee it, looking like rain....although the rain would mask footsteps well. I am getting very inspired to set off for a true deep woods still hunt though. We are southern Adirondacks, and while we have big wood lots, its not like the northern areas. I am thinking about either seeing if my dad is up for the challenge, or ask my buddy, in which I know he would go. It is something I have wanted to do for a few years now.

Enjoying the posts Wolc.

Thanks guys. Appreciate the input. I ordered a Rhino 100. Something to add in for variety.

You know how often I am presented with a shot...lol

That’s really neat. Will take a look at that one, thanks

Thanks for your advice. I am not 100% new to ground blinds, my dad has one which I have borrowed once in awhile. I usually find them inconvenient, but for up at camp, I feel like it would be beneficial. I do not want to borrow his anymore, and I don’t know what brand blind we have off the top of my head, since my dad keeps it in his procession, so thats why I seek input on brands. Appreciate your input, thank you.

Thanks guys, just looking for something in that price point because I doubt I will use it more than 5x a year. Something to bounce around in.

Hello folks. I am finding that I would like a ground blind. I was just up at our camp, and find that I feel like I would like to bounce around a bit. I feel like a ground blind with some brush might benefit me in that area. I just built a mini mansion tower at home, so I am thinking $150 roughly as a budget. I am looking at Ameristep, and I see Rhino....I know how to google, but what are you guys, and gals using for store bought options. I love the Ameristep chair blind, but I feel that the crossbow will be tight, and I do want to use my heater to take the edge off, at times. I like the camo screens on some of them, that you can shoot through. I am excited for this, but want to make the right decision for me. thanks

True, but i am not done yet! My left elbow was not fully developed, it can hyper-extend, etc...so it is possible, that my elbow was just overwhelmed from work these past few months. We will see what happens.

Sadly no, i was shooting the bow a bit, and it was bothering my elbow a lot.....My left elbow with the prosthetic. I just cannot afford to aggravate that elbow, since it has to hold the bionic arm’s. I am not one to quit, but I don’t see much more bow hunting in my future. I honestly do not enjoy shooting it anyways, so it will be, what it will be.

This is what I hope to pick up on, is learning where deer frequent more often than others. I just struggle with it no matter where I hunt, even at home, but it’s basically big woods here as well. When I do connect, it just makes it that much more special. I enjoy the time out there regardless, but do get frustrated at times. It sounds like a special place you have up there with the family, enjoy yourself, hope your back is feeling better than yesterday.

Thanks! I did see 2. I was happy about that, two huge, old, raddy looking does. First deer spotted in the 3 yrs of ownership

That’s funny about the sheet of plywood reference. Definitely large deer for sure. We just don’t know what to look for, as far as where to find deer somewhat often, up there in bigger woods, hence the 1st sighting in 3 seasons. However, I have only hunted up there, 5-10 times.

Zoomed up-ta-camp on Friday in the northern zone...just dad, and I, met him up there, good times.

I ended up seeing 2 doe up there yesterday at last light. They looked old, huge, and raddy. I was happy with that since its big woods, and I was in a ladder stand. It was the first deer seen in the 3 yrs of ownership of our camp.

That sounds exactly how the weather has been all day here as well. That all sounds great, enjoy yourself, good luck, and I hope your back feels better. I too, am hoping for a bear, and one of the two big bucks on cams. It’s just my dad, and I up here at camp this weekend. Hopefully we both get deer, but still learning this place. Great time either way.

I do, i love making burgers, and turkeyfeathers has inspired me to make swiss stuffed burgers too before. This pic was from Yanni’s out of Monticello, my other half picked it up for me on her way home. I add more swiss to it once its home, and drops of bbq sauce. I then bake it a few mins to reheat, and toast the bun. I have then pack the bun separate, so it doesn’t get soggy on the way home. I enjoy there burgers. I know you’re a local guy so that’s why I mention where it’s from.
