Sooooo..... I am attending a Bow Class on sunday August 20 up near Williamstown. I know I have to bring my "homework" with me but I thought I saw something about getting out and actually doing some shooting while there. There is no mention of it that I can find but do we need to bring our bows? I suppose it wouldn't hurt to bring it anyway, I just have a hard time imagining being in a single class for 8 hours straight (minus lunch).

According to google maps, there was 3.68 miles between where i was sitting and a friend of mine last year. He was using a 12ga and I heard his shot faintly. Enough so that i was expecting his text about a minute later that he filled his DMP for that area. Instead he facetimed me to brag

Hauled my son's ATV

Steel is way better. Not only stronger but heavier so you can at least back blade a little bit. My cousin had a fiberglass plow on his sportsman. Had to put bricks over the spring mounts just to add weight. -

I have the 70" version of that plow on my RZR. Works perfectly -
All three of our phones are paid through one account. Just got our check for $20.48. On the check it says it expires if not negotiated... perhaps everyone that only got a few cents should try to negotiate for more

Put my target frame outside saturday... wasps have already tried building a nest in the back corner

I bought one a while back. I believe it was around $170 on sale for $119. It works just fine. I've ranged deer out to 480 yards and trees out to 800 yards (1000 yard limit). It has the angle adjustment, but I never use it. My battery compartment wasn't broken but it is unbelievably loose fitting. just a drop of green locktite fixed that right up.

Are there any restrictions on quartering and packing out game?

Describe the strangest sound you have heard a deer make? I was doing a little scouting while placing new cams and I saw a nice 6 point bound across a small field coming to a stop along the tree line. It kicked around the dirt for a few minutes and finally payed down. I glasses him at 61 yards. He began making this hacking sound like my fathers dry cough. This went on for about 10 minutes before he must have caught wind of me and took off.

I'm trying to get out every chance i can to shoot. Hopefully this weekend i'll get my target built so i can just shoot 20-30 yards from my back yard.

Not claiming to be a pro by any means. Sighted in my new (used) bow. First pic with white target is my 20 yard set. Cardboard is my 30 yard set. I won't even post my 40 yard... it wasn't pretty.

Not to be a complete jackass here but if you are going to call people out in grammar, perhaps practice what you preach? I see three blatant mistakes just in that quote

very well said.

Wolc, Honestly curious about the snowmobile accident you mention above. Are you the guy that went off the cliff at Whetstone Gulf State Forest on a sled? I don't know the details of your accident but I'm glad you made a healthy recovery. The reason I ask is becaus, in my mind at least, driving a sled off a 180+ foot cliff... landing in a stony bank along a river... and being there for 48 hours alone and in the cold with dozens of broken bones is about the worst accident i can imagine.

That is misunderstanding on my part. I thought the 2nd column meant if you tried to get a second of the same DMP area. Live and learn... I won't make that mistake again.

Picked up mine today, got my first choice 7F but denied on 7M. Not sure if this happened to anyone else, but the lady doing mine at Bass Pro said my number brought up some other guy by the name Michael Greene... Obviously not me. Didn't even live within 100 miles of Syracuse. I looked at her screen to make sure she put the correct number in and it was correct. Very odd.

I have never been bow hunting and only used a bow a few times a couple decades ago... but I am looking to pick up a starter and giving it a go. I am interested. Are there restrictions to sending a bow in the mail like firearms?
-
I don't believe so. Two years I've only got DMPs for 7f and 7m. Last year was the first time I've got one for NZ

I was scrolling through the NY DEC pages today seeing if anything has been updated for 2017-2018 and I came across the DMP availability page for 2016. While I know this isn't new, as its for last season... I was surprised to see that unit 6K is listed as needing PP. As far as I know I didn't have any PP last year but I got a DMP for 6K and 7F on my first round, and then two more in 7F in November. Just curious if that page is 100% accurate or more of a guideline? Page in question is http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/30409.html

Was just up that way last week while on vacation doing some fishing. Hiked up to the fire tower on Bald Mountain and had an awesome burger at Duffy's. Saw several deer in the area along with two mangy looking coyote.

1) With the new job, and the recent promotion in that job, find time to get out in the woods. Already planning the rest of my vacation days for the task. 2) Be there when my son shoots his first deer. 3) Fill at least one tag for myself so I can use my late grandmothers venison stew recipe and make memorable meal for my grandfather... the special person that taught me to hunt. 4) Make sure everyone I hunt with comes home safe, happy and healthy.

That was one of the other things we talked about. Over the years the dog clubs and the pheasant tournament folks have taken it upon themselves to THINK they run the place. The last 18 months have been an eye opener for both groups. The dog clubs now have limited access to the grounds and are going to have even more limited vehicle access starting this year. It has been an issue that is being resolved now.
