I use a black widow PSA made in 04 or a Bighorn Fred Asbell made. I still shoot a compound too however, working construction and powerlifting beat up my shoulders so I sometimes find it tough to practice. This summer all is good. Bighorn is 60, Widow 63 lbs. used to shoot custom King tapered cedar, Zwickau glue on heads. Can't seem to find any so now I'm using beman ics, w stingers

Not a matter of right, just dif experiences for dif people sometimes. Only trying to dispel imo some old myths that don't always hold complete water for some of the newer folks. They need to keep an open mind to grow as hunters if they so wish

Horn back getting ready to pull the sapling up n back. Notice head position. Can't push that way
-
you can see sapling being pulled up n back. Notice direction of sapling top

Time is relative bud. I know a guy hunted 47 years n killed 1 deer so time alone can give different people results. If you've been active Id find it pretty odd you've never seen this behavior as its common. Many guys shoot the first deer they see n hence can't evaluate behavior completely. Not saying its you. Remember too we see more rubbing bow season since they're acting more natural than gun season so that's when normal behavior is in pla

I had one removed too about the string bow

Are you reading articles or first hand observing? By no means discounting your post but I've seen this for over 35 years. Doesn't mean I'm right but it's pretty common when I'm in the woods in NJ, Pa, NY, Va, Illinois.

The End of Hunting and shooting sports for Kids

I teach hunter ed. Kids, young girls and women make up a pretty high percentage of students. In fact the girls especially need the semis -
Hunterman have you watched bucks of all sizes rub? They rub both by pulling which is often a basket rack n a sapling. Big bucks n big trees normally pushed

Rob prob most often deer rub in lines. Great way to tell their routes but they don't do it all once. Each time they pass the add one or two. A cluster can mean different bucks are coming through. Look for the line of rubs, scan out a bit, you'll see it. Than Id follow it n try to find an intersection where multiple lines crossed. If that worked Id comsider sitting there

Mature deer do seem to run most pushing

Have you ever seen any rub? Not saying you havent just didn't get post. Watch typical baskets they commonly rub back wards

Ok guys the post about checking arrows got me thinking. Every time at hunter Ed in Nj where bows must be shot we turn folks away for bad equipment. Can't just be there, check your bows each time. Look for frayed strings/cables. Missing eclips, hit your riser for loose or cracked parts, they'll rattle. Same for crossbows they're notorious for coming loose. Check em

Do you all think you can determine travel routes by the side of the tree a rub faces? I personally have watched more bucks pull the trees w backside of horns than push. I have seen button bucks rub toward trees as they have no horn yet. The old conception is rubs are where deer come from. I've seen them do both n it may be the size of rack, or the size of tree

Virgil the propaganda is my point. How do we know the studies are correct? Again my point bout the fisherman split shot? The tests cannot be complete without all the facts. Forget the Hawks n Eagles im referring to the elevated lead blood levels in humans. And as I stated all Itd take is breaking the accuracy records to show the lead is not necessary. Seems an easy task no? Now as an electrician Id know the price of copper fluctuates pretty wildly compared to lead. So what about the cost difference? It's all gotta be considered

One of our coolest game birds. Love hunting them

I've judged little hounds n next to our area guys were using terriers to get groundhogs. I think Jack Russell trials are not my thing but cool in their own right too. A dog with heart who wants something w complete desire is admirable

Using big words doesn't make you right or even make facts of the "studies". I'll use the green house "studies" again as many scientists again disagree. I'm not saying I'm right since I'm not one who did the studies. Have you or are you just reading what someone else wrote? Theories are only that n in life I'm sure you've seen them change so why are you so resistant to keep an open mind n simply say some studies suggest certain things? Scientists, Drs, etc, they're only practicing a trade. Now lots of grants are given out for certain studies n future grant money is slated only to those who get desired results. Since you obviously are educated you must know this?

Exactly my sentiment

This is assuming someone drank coffee, beer, etc. Perhaps had expendable money or only shot at deer occassionally. Again not correct assumptions for all. Some guys shoot all year long n you're proposing that they shoot lead at targets n then resight w copper to hunt? That's not how it works w accuracy freaks. They work up a load, whatever it is n shoot it. How bout you guys just win some accuracy competitions or a bunch of em n the rounds is superior there would sell themselves n this whole conversation wouldn't be happening

This last post seemed less pushy of the agenda. How much lead do you think it takes to kill a bird? How long you figure. A guy at a shop near me put pellets in 2 ducks food for 8 years before they died. They ate lead every day. Would I do that? Course not but 8 years is a long time. I don't think fragments from a bullet can hurt. Now since we have some "bullet experts" here. What exactly type load sprayed lead all over an animals body? How do you know the white spots weren't some kid shooting bird shot at a deer? Certain type heads like ballistic tips almost explode in a sense on impact. What type round? In NY any centerfire is legal, Id bet a 22-250 hit w fragmenting head might do this most slower expanding deer loads in my opinion won't. I could be wrong but this is only opinion about the slower heads doing less splatter effect in an X-ray. Again studies can be modified to get desired results. If that's not obvious than someone has a problem. Now take into effect most hunters are fisherman too. How does the split shot get on the line? By biting it on, some guys keep extras in their mouth, some guys do that w maggots too but that's beside the point. Ever see an old split shot bag? Lead residue all over even if not directly put into mouth Id bet some gets there. Any studies about lead levels in a hunters blood done to determine if guys who only fish have lower levels? I didn't think so. If not the study is incomplete

My father used to carve some pretty intricate stuff. When I was 3 he said my mom says 4 he carved me a bow. I still remember it n the trip to Maine. Great memories
