  1. good luck grow. get better soon.
  2. I agree with four seasons. Benn hunting for over 30 years now and I kill a nice buck every year. I know I'm fortunate to do so on the property I hunt. I don't judge what others do or harvest but will offer advice when asked. I passed 8 different bucks during gun season that I decided not to shoot being that I got a good one during bow season. It's what you decide to do. I really couldn't care less or listen to what others decide to do as long as it's legal.
  3. Mossberg 500 for deer. Belgium Browning Sweet 16 for upland game birds/rabbits .
  4. I gotta tell ya that the Open Country dehydrator I bought last year is excellent and cheap. The Nesco jerky spices are the best I've ever tasted and I can't make enough of it. It really is a great machine and comes with a shooter. You use chop meat with it and I can't rave about it enough. 2 1/2 hours and it's perfect. http://www.gandermountain.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?pdesc=Open-Country-500-Watt-Food-Dehydrator-Jerky-Kit&i=401746
  5. Couldn't agree more. When I arrowed my 8 point this season with a good double lung hit I backed out even knowing that it was good. I waited until he was out of sight and backed out and got some help. Didn't want to drag it alone. Don't beat yourself up over it Vince just learn from it and you did the right thing calling Deer Search. It happens
  6. When they dry up and die they usually easier to remove. I sometimes put the clothes in the dryer and cook them first. They come off a lot easier.
  7. Awesome.... congrats and great story.
  8. They were all over me today just not the right one.... back in the primary stand early... optimistic for sure
  9. I'm drinking a little red right now since I just came out of the tree stand.... oops... wrong whine..

I agree. I think ncountry was just stating that the deer in HIS post is from mount morris. The original posters deer is the chicks for sure from Indiana not MM,
  11. There still is a lot of activity by me in 3M and heard about 8 shots at dusk today. I had 15 in the field I hunt over this afternoon with 3 small bucks. Season has been very active for me and took a nice 8 during bow. My processor says his numbers are up here in Orange co. As G-man stated above they're holding to cover near their beds. I'm hunt about 85 yards from a thicket and can glass them moving back and forth.
  12. I had to dispatch a buck three years ago gut shot by a trespasser. The guy actually argued with me on my property about the deer. When I started calling DEC he hightailed it out of there. You did the right thing.I know how you feel.

No. Audrey Sharp killed this deer in Illinois. Google search it.... Same truck also from OP http://www.northamericanwhitetail.com/2012/01/03/audrey-sharps-first-247-78-inch-indiana-trophy-buck/
  14. I like to marinate it in Italian dressing. Let it stand overnight then barbecue it FAST AND HOT. Don't overcook it. Comes out great. Congrats on finding him too.... great job and love the story.
  15. Never. I usually approach with my gun shouldered and ready for a follow-up or put down shot. If I saw he was still alive he would've got one in the heck right away.
  16. Yeah unfortunately it wasn't me but the hunter was happy. It was a far back hit with the bow and deer search had to shoot it (which they are allowed to do by the DEC on wounded deer). I've took some big deer here in 3M. You have them on the other side of the Hudson too.
  17. Wow... that's cool and I think it is 6. I live off of Rt 207 in Rock Tavern. Sorry to see they closed the 2 spot up near Rt 84.
  18. I agree with that. I've shot my 06 through brush knowing and seeing the vitals. I had no issue with impact where i was aiming. That's not to say I would prefer the shot though IMO.
  19. This deer was taken at spot 4 on Drury (747) last year. I've hunted Stewart for 35 years. It does seem to have been thinned out a lot with all the deer getting pushed. Deer search found the buck and I know the hunter personally.
  20. dlg.... try Kroll Farm on Bethlehem road in New Windsor. It's near Stewart Airport. Anthony is a good guy and does all my processing. http://www.krollfarms.com/ Thank you for your service also...
