Welcome aboard. Nothing like it in the world. Enjoyed the read and we've all made mistakes and missed before.
-
5:30 this year. I enjoy the sounds but get a crazy with the early ones. Nothing like the gun opener for sure. Good luck all and be safe,

As I get older with more deer taken, I find myself enjoying bow season more and more. It is very exciting late October early November for sure. Good luck during gun season.

Biz... Thanks and didn't know I could request the backstraps which obviously I will. My processor is part of the venny coalition and forgot to ask him when I picked up my bow kill buck earlier this year. As always appreciate the help everyone.
-
If I shoot a buck and donate the meat to the venison coalition, can I keep the cape/antlers without any issues? I only ask because I know that the tag needs to stay with the meat. Appreciate the help.

DT...I also saw that doe piebald by Harriman in the large field a few times. You're right and she's been there a few years now and is about 3 y/o. Anyone coming up the Thruway pay attention to the large fields on the right before the tolls. She's pretty easy to see and is usually there toward dusk.

I'm with CF here and I'm in Orange county. All of my good buck activity is during night but they're there.

Congrats Elmo.

I shot this 4 pointer a few years back and I try and shoot mature deer whenever I can. Not knowing much about QDM, would this deer's genes be bad? From the post's I've read I would think so.

I think these two are different bucks although the time stamp is close... thoughts? WGI_0012.wmv WGI_0013.wmv

styk... stick with it. with those does you have there you're all set.

I'd be "bleating" profusely trying to bring her within range. Nice doe.

Be vewwwwy careful. They've been known to be vewwwy dangerous. Looks to be rutting too. 35.5 year old. LOL May be a pie bald also from what I can tell.

The old girl has still got it...
Steve7 replied to Chenango Dave's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
That is awesome Dave. She's a beautiful bird and the sport is something that I would love to get into if I had the time. You should be proud of her. -
I just prefer the heavier 30 caliber range whether it's 30.06 or .308 IMO. I use a 30.06 for deer.
-
I agree. If you flip back and forth, watch the deer nose. It's angled different in both pictures which would definitely change how much fletching you would see.

Yes WNY. I opened the topic really feeling that it was real although those anti's can try and do anything to make us responsible hunters look bad. There is a posting on a NJ Hunter site similar to huntingny.com that they said this happened to the deer during in Essex county, NJ during the bow opener. Some locals who are claim they are familiar with deer claim it happened last year and that's why there is no blood and that it's kinda healed. Both pro and con on that forum in NJ too and we may never know the outcome.

+1. The deer actually has slight swelling under it's right eye from the arrow impact like a black eye.
-
I saw this today sent to me by someone else. Very sad and be safe. Always wear your harness.
-
+2. That would be tough to pass on IMO. Nice footage.

They're looking for this deer in hopes of helping it. A little disturbing to look at for sure but they say it's doing ok.. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/deer-arrow-head-spotted-new-jersey-article-1.1507299

105mm Howitzer from 3N to 3M taking into account windage and elevation. Boom. No butchering required.
