  1. I'm OCD on scent control..... Don't buy into the carbon clothing, proven fact the material can't be recharged, temp required to get odor released from Carbon atoms would destroy the material... My routine is shower before heading out with scent eliminating soap, first layer on is a silvermax based clothing... Silver ions proven to destroy bacteria that causes odor... Spray scent elim. spray every layer... All clothing is put into an Ozone closet I made... Ozone is a proven odor killer, and will stay in the clothing for a time killing any scent found... final thing is scent elim. spray all out clothing, back pack etc...
  2. 32 yard shot, she never left the field.... went 75 yds... Slick Trick Mag is an amazing broad head for sure.... Never disappoints... figure she goes 125lb.... Dragging up hill she felt 250 LOL
  3. I'm in 4Y on one of my farms.... I rarely see any signs of the rut... No rubs.. very few scrapes.... way to many does per buck is the usual cause of low rut activity... That defines 4Y for sure... no DMP tags and I see a lot of does... Crazy....
  4. Took my buddies 13 year old son out a few time this year, trying to get him on a deer with his bow.... Finally had one give him the right shot, he did great!!! Perfect shot, deer went 20 yds and piled up... watched it go down... You can see the exit hole... He did great, been practicing all summer... Probably shoots better than I do!!!
  5. I'll hunt in showers but if it is calling for steady rain over night... I won't... You can think you will only take perfect shots but every bad shot starts off with the idea it will be perfect... We all make mistakes... I just don't want to lose one because the blood trail on a questionable shot is lost due to rain..
  6. I shot mine opening day.... Was trying over the weekend to get a 13 year old on his first deer... just can't get back to the oaks, the place we hunt is a farm... no permission to go to the oaks..
  7. True... I see more deer at my stands then what the cameras pick up.... But still it has reduced in the past week... I have no hunters walking by on camera, of course they may be doing things off camera that is effecting the deer... like hunting on the wrong wind etc..
  8. I'll be back out this weekend... Took a 13 year old this past weekend, we saw deer.. He passed on a few skippers (fawns) but not a ton of movement... even my pics are down.... hoping they get back to moving in my area soon..
  9. I think it is here.... wow... not a lot going on over the weekend
  10. Ahh.... I get it now... Still a messed up rule... but at least I understand it now... Should be 12-15 but what ever.. at least I have the rules understood... Thanks..
  11. He has the Annual hunting license ($5.00) plus the bow hunting privilege ($4.00)
  12. He's bow hunting only... For some unknown reason, youths 12-13 can ONLY bow hunt where 14-15 year old's can use either... Makes no sense but he is bow hunting only... so he gets to use both tags like I thought.. just making sure..
  13. BUT... He is buying the archery license as well.... So.... he has a tag for bow season.... the 10-8 - 10-10 is bow season... So.. if he fills his youth hunt tag (The regular season tag), he paid the $ for the archery tag as well... How does that not allow him a second deer???
  14. For the youth hunt, Can the youth take a buck with the regular season tag and then, with the archery tag shoot a doe if they are bowhunting????
  15. Rat poison in the blind... Just an idea...
  16. I'm taking a 13 year out, son's of a friend... Can't wait to get him out, he's shooting his bow great!!!!
  17. I put new straps on every year because of this...
  18. Well, started scouting the end of July... Running 6 cameras.... Had 4 8 pt's and 2 7 pt's on my hit list for bucks.... All through August had them showing up pretty consistently... then in Sept. they feel off the planet.. saw one here and there but mostly does and small bucks... I figured come the rut I might see one of the bucks on my list... First afternoon I am in my favorite stand, hoping to fill a doe tag on a big nanny doe.... pass on a spike at 3:00, deer are moving early for sure... 5:40 I look up, see deer moving towards me, check my bino's and see two smaller bucks, a 6 and a 4 moving towards me, a big doe bringing up the rear, grab the bow.... look back and see the 2 small bucks face off and spare, then split.... a 4th deer comes into view and it is one of the 8pts, he trots forward and takes the lead to my stand.. He comes by at 15 yards and I send the Slick Trick Mag through him... he crashes through the hedgerow out to the field... when I get to the base of the tree I can see him laying out in the field... he went under 90 yards.... Now it is doe only for me while I try to get the wife a deer and my buddy's 13 year old son his first.... Scouting pic then the hero shots... Remember, I'm not a "little" guy.... LOL

  20. I built an ozone closet for my clothes and gear.... just don't breathe it in.... you will be coughing for sure... not good for you.
  21. I start scouting end of July, cameras out in early August...
  22. Last year, several of us watched does feed, bed, get up, feed, all within 20 yards... all afternoon... So they do bed in oaks if they want...
  23. Trust me... If I could go to where the oaks are, I would be there..... I keep 30 plus yards from the line, in as far as I can go... And deal with what comes out... on low acorn years I see/shoot more deer... it all works out in the end... And I never take offense to any comments... We all have our own styles and I take every suggestion into consideration... I start scouting in July and then start putting out cameras in August... and see what happens from there...
  24. I hunt close to fields... Don't have permission to hunt the big woods behind me... I always can tell when the acorns start dropping and they don't go to the fields.. Just hoping they aren't as plentiful as last year....
