Should go with hunter orange, drop the rule with no hunting 30 minutes before or after sunrise/sunset (Like all the other states around).... increase the shotgun only areas....

In my area.. there is so little rut sign, pics show a high doe to buck ratio.... I'll shoot 1 buck if that a year but try to fill every single doe tag we can get... to many guys shoot their buck and leave, which is fine... but we need to lower the # of does and raise the # of bucks to get the herd right.. For me.. I'll pass on every small buck and fill my freezer with does, for my area, it is the smart move..

I'm all for less govt. in our pockets.. this is just BS, allowing them more control over something they shouldn't be controlling...

Hoping mine are safe with gun season still open....

Took my cameras down on 11/18, just put them back up yesterday..... Haven't hunted since the 19th.... just way to many idiots out there for my liking... trespassing... hunting out of the truck.. driving through the fields... hunting out of my stands/blinds.... Amazing the difference in caliber of the people that bow hunt compared to some of the yahoo's that gun hunt.. put my cameras back up thinking the yahoo's have given up and hoping the deer herd goes back to a more normal pattern for black powder... Anyone else still have camera's out????

I had a the Marlin 450.... that thing was a cannon... think 45/70 on steroids...

True.. but if you are going to break the law you will break any law.. we can't base decisions solely on the rule breakers...

The better question might be "If you had the means and land, would you do the same?".... I'm thinking most would say yes... We hunt the best way we can,... Those with the means can do more, doesn't make them better hunters... Just another hunter with more money/land..

I prefer new moons.. more activity at sun up and sun down.. mid day activity is up as well..... I do not like hunting full moons either...

Sad thing is... I see very few hunters bow hunting.... we are all sportsmen... Then rifle opens up... Idiots driving around in fields with rifles in the truck sticking out the window, guys using stands/blinds that you set up and scouted, walking around setting up near you... it's like it is the season for the mentally challenged to go hunt... I hunt opening morning then wait a week plus... let the idiots get bored and stay home.. Then I will go back out... but seriously what the hell is wrong with some of these guys...???

Sad thing is.. NY thinks sunrise to sunset is going to save people but then doesn't require hunter orange.... Stupid in both cases... That 1 hour is the best hour of hunting... And hunter orange saves lives...

That's a shame.. but they will still do venison, just boneless.... so that still works..

Life lines on every single tree or ladder stand... attach on the ground... detach once you get back on the ground... Period.. safest and easiest way to make sure you go home after every hunt...

In Columbia county, it was a sh_t show... lots of shooting, lot's of multiple rounds... lots of hunting from the truck... Driving through fields... hunting out of other peoples stands/blinds.... a true NY sh_t show... I hate rifle season...

5 on the stock.. shoot a T/C Pro Hunter.... single shot..

I shoot a T/C Pro Hunter.... 1 shot... If I can't make it count I don't squeeze the trigger... period... I'm with ya...

It's not just young guys.... most of the people I see are older.... I'm 52.... and I see guys my age and older doing really dumb stuff... When I gun hunt I hunt like I have a bow, just the ability to shoot further...... That's it.. same scent control,,, same areas... etc..

To be blunt... Why do some so called "sportsmen" (hunters) feel the need to turn the opening day of gun season into a sh_t show.... blasting rounds at deer like it is a war zone, hunting from trucks, driving trucks through fields looking to shoot, hunting other peoples blinds/stands.... Just in general being exactly what anti hunters want us to look like... A bunch of idiots.... Now I am totally against the sunrise to sunset rule, should be 30 minutes prior to 30 minutes after, if you can't see with that light, don't shoot... Most states have those times and do just fine... But I heard more shots in the missing hour than the entire day... And it isn't just NY... I live in Ma. and it's the same here... If you know people doing this, please instruct them, chastise them if need be... we are only hurting ourselves by not correcting this behavior... your thoughts????

I know for sure they can't take a broad head to the lungs as well as a deer... They die quick for being so big..

Bears have far less lung capacity than a deer, they die quickly if hit properly... I can't see even a 400lb'r going out of sight if hit in the lungs....

Oh... and sadly, I am all of 290lb, so I make a lot of things "appear" smaller... LOL

To be 100% honest.... Every deer I weigh on a scale is either right on or heavier than my guess, so thinking I am either right on or she is over 125lb... The butcher doesn't have a scale... And because I live in Ma and it is illegal for me to bring them across state lines I have to have them cut up there... But thanks for all the Kudos!!!!
