Seeing deer has never been a problem.... Getting the right deer within bow range was always the trick... Then with the rifle and BP, it's getting the right tag and the right deer within range... LOL And thank you... it was devastating at the time.. But she was in a wheel chair for almost 30 years, fought hard and long.... I'm sure she is without pain or restrictions now...

I told the wife last night... We are running out of venison... First time in YEARS..... Had a tough year last year... Got 1 with the bow but then my mother got sick, eventually passed in December.... Day before my vacation to hunt, obviously the hunting didn't happen... So freezer is showing the signs.... I'll be in full hunting mode as will the wife this October to refill it for sure..

Cool.... I'm thinking of setting at least 1 camera to do the "pic every (insert time here) to catch deer further away that the camera doesn't pic up with the sensor.... Maybe that will show me more.... But I'll post my results as well...

Always heard the width of the front foot in inches was what the bear would square in feet... 6" wide pad, 6' bear...
-
Tell that to Pa back in the 80's...... LOL My cameras show a VERY different story.... And that is preseason, before the craziness begins so bucks are moving more freely... But hey, they went to school for it... I just base my choices on what I see... Try to shoot 2-3 does for every buck I shoot... preferably more...
-
The place I hunt has more horn hunters that pass up every single doe to shoot a small 6 point to say they got their buck... My cameras show 8-10 does per buck at least.... So I try to shoot 2-3 does for every buck I shoot if not more...

When you are there, you only see them for a short bit then they are skinned, salted and just have pics to remember them by... Been 11 months since I was there and feels like 2 years... LOL -

If you are out in the Western Ma area, I'll have you come over and you can see the mounts I've got... And chat... Got a great moose outfit in Newfie too...
-
If you are looking for some of the bigger animals yes... But you will take 5 - 6 animals for that unlike here where $5,000 maybe gets you 1... There if you don't kill you don't pay basically...

I've been to Africa twice... Awesome hunts.... Love the place.. There is a 3rd in my future, just not sure when....
-
Hoping by the end of the month... Doing a huge reno on the house since March.. told the wife this needs to be done by Aug. so we can get ready for deer season...
-
Anything over 6 does to 1 buck is not going to get you any more deer... Bucks will breed roughly 3 does per estrous cycle... anything conceived after the December rut won't make it the following winter... Not sure what NY has for a buck doe ratio... but go with those #'s on your area and see what you see... I know the farm I hunt is over that and see a lot of does without fawns every year... Some do to natural predation but others are just not bred...

I love the standards.... fly great, kill even better...

I've never heard of that happening before... My procedure for this is as follows... Spray clothing till damp really concentrating on the cuffs, zippers and waist/neck openings Put damp clothing in a plastic bag and remove air... Tie a knot in bag. Let it sit for 24 hours Remove clothing and let air dry outside... I find this method really saturates the clothing the best way possible... And I can honestly say since I've been doing this I have not found 1 single tick on me, the wife or my son...

That's a great bird for sure!!!!! Congrats!!!!!

From what I've seen in 4Y and 4Z I don't think they got hit to hard.... But we never get DMP's as non residents so it won't effect me anyways... Hoping the farmer gets some tags...
