  1. I watch these Raccoon's on my cams. It's so interesting, once the temperatures drops below 25, or if it snows; I won't see a Raccoon for days. They just hold out until the weather warms up. I don't even see a foot print in the snow. Very curious animal.
  2. I can't find regulations on trapping squirrel's. I see hunting squirrel regulations, but nothing on trapping. Am I missing something in the book ? Anyone ever eat a NY squirrel? I'm curious what they taste like.
  3. I'm going in August. Not really sure what to expect. I am concerned the fur won't be so thick in August. But it'll be an experience either way.
  4. Have you been successful with the 160? I heard most guys use 220's with a slightly larger box..
  5. I went to high school that was 50% black 50% white. I am facebook friends with a lot of classmates. They are now posting pictures of Obama's (mr. & mrs.) as there profile picture. Like they warship him as a g-d, or faith healer. It's unbelievable actually.
  6. Can some one post a pic of FAT ADDED chop meat. I'd like to see the difference.
  7. It was a big fat doe. But I have never seen that much fatty looking material. Thinking about the 1 time I ground my own deer; I carefully removed all the silver lining, tendons, and anything that wasn't meat. So it came out real lean. This is the 1st time I had a butcher grind up meat, so I really don't know..................
  8. I specifically told the butcher NO FAT !!!!!!!!!! Do NOT add fat to my chop meat, He says OK OK OK. This is what I get.

    Snow Sets

I pulled some cards. Nothing on the cards at all, except birds. I think they'll start moving again when the snow melts.

    Snow Sets

I took a walk after the snow stopped. No tracks in the snow, except mine. Maybe another day till they start moving again.
  11. How did you get the Fox ? I have 1 on my cam, but I like them around to eat the mice & rats from my neighbors property.
  12. I thought Raccoon's were holed up too. But I see them on my cams very often. This is with no bait. They are just roaming around at night time.
  13. I want to build a wooden box for my Conibear. Are there blueprints on the internet ? Something with measurements, so I can just run the wood down the table saw.
  14. Nice quality. Which Browning is it? My cams are good in day light, awful at night time.
  15. The trapping class wasn't easy; but it was worth the effort. Therefore, any Raccoon I catch, I need to do something with. Maybe a hat, or a full mount. Maybe even a rug. Or maybe just hang the pelt on the wall, but that's kinda plain. I'd never catch it just because it's a nuisance, which it is. I have until March to decide if he'll be a wall hanger, or wait until next season.
  16. This is another one, either ripping up the lawn, or taking a dump on my lawn. You need to look carefully, and you can see the tail & the body. One morning I saw 4 coons ripping up the lawn. Just at day light, & they had no problem being out there at 1st light. So there must of been a lot of grubs.
  17. I keep a few cams at ground level just to see what's going on. This boy looks pretty big. He's very proficient at ripping up my back lawn.. Ripping into my garbage. Looks pretty healthy, no mange. Not sure what I'd do with him, so I haven't set the trap yet.
  18. I too have that dilemma. If I harvest it, I need to do something with it. Maybe a Raccoon rug.... or Fox rug. I don't need the $20 for the fur, I'd rather do something with it.
  19. I caught a Red Fox on my Cam. Beautiful animal. Not sure I want to kill it yet, haven't seen any others. Only the one.
  20. The Red fox is a beautiful animal. My 1st will definitely be mounted. Maybe a full body mount. I caught one on the cam last week.
  21. There are no bag limits on Yotes & Raccoons, and a few other Fur bearer's. That means there are plenty of them to go around. I met someone that took 25 Raccoons off his farm. He said it took 3 years till he saw another one.
  22. Only a coon will get caught in a foot hold trap. They are specific for Raccoons. Box traps do work well for specific targets. I know people walk their dogs off lease around here.
  23. I got my trapping license a while ago. Finally decided to get into it. I got my 1st Raccoon, that was pretty cool. Then my trial cam catches a Red Fox. I decided I want to keep them alive. They look so cool, they eat the mice & rats from the horse stable next door. I see no reason to trap them... maybe besides mounting one. I'd rather have them keep the varmints under control. I only saw one on my cams. I saw rabbits on the cam too. Kinda surprised with the Fox being around. Not sure what I'll do with an Opossum. They eat rodents too. I did see one on the cam. The Raccoons are a PITA. They destroy my property. Tear through the loft in the barn. Tear up the lawn. So I have no problem trapping them, or at least thin down the population some what. It's an interesting hobby now that I have my trapping license. Just a weekend thing, since I can't really check the traps when I have to work. So my odds of catching something are slim only doing it 2 nights a week.
