Yes I’ve done that, the keel on the bottom makes the lean but again if your in a field they want to be in you can put out coyote decoys and they will land
-
I also love to hunt ducks and chase bucks. But for me I usually duck hunt when the winds are not in my favor or I’ve been burning a spot out. Also rainy misty days I’m duck hunting

Generally they don’t like the tree line cause of threat of predators. You can use a sleeping bag or even a piece of burlap to slip in. Just get your weed wacker out to cut up some grass and cover yourself up in it. Lay your spread out with a couple real decoys close to you so the look at the deeks and not this 200lb hump in the field lol

Check out Rogers they usually have a July sale. Big foot are my favorite brand but you can get a set of final approach floaters for $100 a dozen and for field you can get full body Hideon for around $140 for half dozen. If the pond is smaller you can kill birds with 4 floaters. Also if the field you have already has birds coming into it you can use 1 gallon milk jugs painted half black and white and still kill em. If that’s where they want to go you can put anything out

There also is a March season not sure if it’s your area but if you wanted to get a head start ya can. As far as Sept season goes try to find a cut hay field or grass field. A pond works also but geese tend to short stop of the spread on water so if you have floater decoys put them pass your hide. The only thing I can tell ya about goes hunting gear is you can kill birds with 4-6 floater decoys and or a dozen field decoys. But if the addiction kicks in be prepared to fill up the back half of your garage with gear. If you want to ever make it out to this part of NY I’d be glad to set ya up with some silhouette decoys to get ya started or even put a hunt together with a hopefully by then a yelling goat after party.

I think you need to pick the dog according to what your going to use it for. I've had a springer spaniel and was a good dog but just can't break threw 8 ft cattail and mucky water that will make a billy goat puke like a Lab. A Lab has that switch that can and loves to do that in the morning, then come home and allow the kids to dress him up in a super man cape. I disagree with doe wack a Labrador needs exercise and training. Just not as much cause they are so smart and just get it..

Fernco works I’ve done it in my old house. Also snake out that black iron pipe while it’s opened up. Or if you can get at the vent in your yard rent a power snake and run it from the street back to the house
