  1. I'm looking to pick up a fly outfit for fishing the small streams up in the ADK.My current set up is a 5wt. 8'6" 2pc. I'd like to get something more packable and a lighter wt. class. From the videos and reading i've done a smaller rod seems the wat to go.Even though i have no real experience fly fish having only caught a few sunny i'm ready to add this advantage to my list. I wanted to get this set up but it always out of stock ll bean Any suggestions would be appreciated,I'd like to keep it around the $300-400 mark
  2. I tried a bunch of caddis flies and even a san jaun worm.Last year in the same pond at this time of the year a beadless pheasantail was get hits.Unfortunately I won't be able to get out for the next few weeks.
  3. Went out to the local pond this morning to try my luck fly fishing again. There where big fish jumping clean out of the water, but i couldn't hook one. They where eating little white flies the size of pepper flakes. The worm guys where crushing them.I couldn't take it anymore and grabbed my spinning rod and a Little Chloe[silver/blue] first cast i got a rainbow.I tried a few more flies then left. Rigth in the middle of the picture is a Bald Eagle,There becoming quite common here on Long Island.
  4. I haven’t hunted with any yet,but that’s going to change this year. First up a t/c renegade.54 cal. Second is a pedersoli .12 ga. SxS Third is a traditions crocket .32 cal. I picked up a few weeks ago for squirrel hunting. I’ve been bouncing around the idea of adding a pistol, but I’m not sure what kind to get yet. The target is the first three shots at 30yrds with the .32
  5. I'd look into a water sealer intead of staining it.Something like shellac try the bottom to see how it comes out.I never did it to a turkey call, but have saltwater lures[wood] that have stood the test of time with shellac.Hopefully a woodworker can help you out on a good sealer. My waterproof wizard has a clear coat on it.It's also 22 years old and still works and looks like the day i bought it.
  6. I've been hunting up there for about 8 years.I shot one small buck the first year seen a few small bucks hear and there, got a doe with the muzzle loader last season.I'll be moving up in the beginning of next year and plain on doing a lot of scouting. I see more bears during the early bow/muzzle loader season.I even shot a long beard one fall with my bow. It's beautiful up there for sure.

  9. Got to shoot it over the weekend. What a rip I had. I wouldn’t even hesitate to shoot a turkey with ether barrel at 30yrds. It was very consistent. The load was 80gr. FF black powder with 11/2oz of nickel plated #5’s. I was also shooting a basketball with #71/2’s just for fun and fun it was. Cylinder bore Modified bore Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I had to make the same decision 28yrs. ago.I had three careers to choose from all made the same money so it was a matter of picking the one i would enjoy the most.Well i'm 9 months away from retirement and can say other then a few turds i've worked with it's been a great career.I have no regrets. GOOD LUCK & ENJOY!!!!!!!

  14. Dick's had a shelf full of 2506,but didn't have the gun. What rifle did you get?
  15. That was the first thought that popped into my head.lol
  16. I had .22lr on notification at buds when i got the email that they had it in it was $85 for 500rd. of Remington thunderbolts?? I like shooting .22's but not that much.If you reload cast lead bullets are still cheap. This all sucks for me after 35+ years of bow hunting I was really looking forward to spend my retirement hunting game and shooting with guns.
  17. I can image the things a tool/die maker can do.I took a course when i was in my twenties but couldn't get passed the math. It's a skill and an art. The cut is supposed to stabilize the slug in flight.I wanted the 1oz Thug slugs, but these where the only ones in stock.I never seen a need for a 3" slug, 23/4" 1oz slugs always knocked them down just fine.
  18. I had a little trouble lining it up on the drill press, but that was about it. I definitely try the Wd-40. I think I was pressing to hard. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
