  4. Coffee and yogurt wasn't the best decision I made this morning. Had to make a u-turn and destroy the bathroom. The kind where you come out sweating and it hurts to wipe. Where each time you think you're done but there more. The kind where you have to drink water afterwards because you're dehydrated. Yes, that kind. I get to my spot right at sun up and some one else beat me to my spot. That's how my morning has been going. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. With 2B being Wilmer Flores' best position, 2B prospect Dilson Herrera pretty much ready to play, and Murphy being a free agent at the end of the year, he is most likely gone after this. I actually like the idea of trading Lucas Duda and resigning Murphy to play 1B where his poor defense won't hurt you as much but I doubt the Mets will think outside the box like that. Duda is great but he is so "feast or famine" for me to be comfortable with. He'll hit 10 home runs in 2 weeks and then can't get a single base hit the next 2 months. 6. I'm loving it. All these late games though will cause me to nap more in the woods.
  7. Not to deter you from using climbers. Like I said, I still use them here and there when it's needed. Just be aware of the hazards of it and take safety seriously. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Some times you have an image of what you want but they simply don't have it so you have to make it yourself. Or in my case, I can't afford what I want so I build something similar. Don't have pictures at work but my Mossberg originally came with wooden stock and slide and a 28" barrel. I installed: 20" game barrel Blackhawk extending stock with pistol grip black rubber Hogue slide. My Ruger 10/22 game with original wood stock. I replaced it with a black tactical Hogue stock and a 18" Green Mountain bull barrel.
  9. Welcome back to NY and welcome to the forum.
  10. From my understanding, the reason gain speed on a longer barrel is that the bullet exits the barrel on a short barrel before all the powder has burned up so you essentially wasted some of the powder. But you only really see this being a factor with magnum rounds that tends to hold a lot of powder. Can't remember where I read this but the author stated that a 22" barrel will be long enough for any non-magnum round in existence. A magnum round in a barrel shorter than 22" and the bullet will exit before all the powder is burnt. For small calibers like the 223, 16" is enough to burn all the powder before the bullet exits.
  11. Two mistakes I made the first year I hunt with a climber. 1. The tension from the platform is created when you stand out towards the edge. Your weight causes the spikes to drive into the tree creating the resistance. I had turned around to get my safety harness around a tree limb and stood too close to the back of the climber closer to the spikes. 2. I picked a tree with a smooth bark instead of an oak. You add the two together and the climber slipped and slid down the tree with me in it. I had just removed the safety harness because I was trying to get it over a limb. Fortunately I wasn't hurt but I did have a huge bloody scrape on my chest from sliding down the tree. I still use a climber though. I just don't use it as often not due to fear but rather the spots I hunt I have good natural ground cover that I rather not deal with the hassle of lugging the climber in and out and setting up, etc.
  12. http://www.gandermountain.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?i=615109 This is what I've been using. Nice and cheap.
  13. The "and use your brain" part if the major deciding factor. There are a lot of laws out there that screw over common sense folks all because there are a few idiots in this world who don't use their brains.
  14. I've had tongue tacos (lengua) at Mexican restaurants before. I wouldn't call them the best thing in the world but they are pretty decent.

  18. Going with a lighter draw weight, I would also imagine helping out in the woods as well. I can draw my bow back slowly and quietly. I see some people in the range trembling as they struggle to draw their bow back. Sort of like they're jerking it back. I just think all that is extra noise and the trembling is extra movement that can spook a deer. But that's just my theory. I've never had my draw weight set at an amount where I couldn't quietly draw it back in a smooth motion.
  19. Dark to dark. Break for lunch at around noon. Back at it by 1PM. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
