    Hello All!

Welcome to the site and welcome to hunting.

  7. It all depends on the area you hunt. The places I hunt, there are natural elevations and natural cover that I can hide in. I prefer the ground more because I like to move. I'll sit still all morning. Mid-afternoon, I'll stalk. Late afternoon I'll sit again at a different spot. The areas that I hunt are more pressured so the deer tends to shift patterns every once in a while so I adjust. I have a spot, a backup spot, a backup to my backup spot and a backup to my backup to my backup spot, etc. A climber (I hunt public lands) is just too much of a hassle to go up and down the tree repeatedly. I use the climber only if I am hunting a spot where there is no natural cover or I can't get a clear shooting lane. You have to know the layout of the land, the behavior of the deer and adjust accordingly.

Dude, that freakin' sucks! Sorry about what happened to you. Hopefully they get the culprits and you get your stuff back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I'm not knocking the 30-30 as I think it is a capable round but you can't bring up how many deer were taken in the past without almost bringing up the possibility of how many were lost and wounded. Hunting prior to the later parts of this century wasn't the most ethical. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Lead weight and anti-freeze? That's a lot of pollutants you're dumping into the lake. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I have no dedicated rifle for such purposes. I carry same rifle I would normally hunt with (Remington 700 in 308 or CVA Wolf 50 cal muzzleloader). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Maybe I'm not quite understanding the question. By scouting, I'm thinking scouting for deer season? I do my scouting pre-season (no rifle since hunting season isn't open yet) or during squirrel season which I'll carry either my Ruger 20/22 (sporterized) or a H&R single shot 12 gauge with modified choke depending on the area.
  15. Its first come first serve. Area is broken up into assigned lots. You arrive, park in an open lot and that's the lot you hunt in.
  16. That's a gorgeous rifle. I would almost be too afraid to take it out hunting in fear of scratching it up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Hello

    Welcome to the forum.
  18. Has nothing to do with being a small market team. Football has a hard salary cap. No team can out spend another team.
  19. Only had one mishap with a rifle. I was shooting my muzzleloader at the range. Had the rifle open and slung over the sand bag rest. I forgot what I was grabbing but I bent over to get something that was between my legs and my shoulder hits the rifle. Rifle does a 360 off the bench and landed on the scope. Scope was bent to bad that I couldn't pull back the hammer because the eye piece was right on top of it.
