Welcome to the forum. It would be helpful if we knew what region you're located in. Helps us help you better (suggest local shops, gun/bow ranges, places to hunt, etc.) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sure don't seem so. While cars are safer, there are now more people and cars have become more affordable. It seems like there are more a-hole drivers than ever. The main target of my post are people who speed, text and drive, and drunk drivers. Regardless of the laws that are put in place, people still seem to do those things. If that is the case then the ranch/standard version may very well be legal.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

20 feet? I decided to add an extra 15,000 to that.

I always carry an empty Poland Springs plastic water bottle with me. When I feel the need to, I drop my pants and place the bottle on the bung hole and let it rip. I cap the bottle as soon as I can to make sure I don't let any out and spook a deer. At the end of the day, I go home and give the bottle to my wife and say "honey, take a wiff of that".

Somebody better find this poor pup a home before he gets euthanized!

Same as Belo. With a one and a half year old who is already into his terrible two's, don't have much time for anything. Still in my Sunday softball league so that takes up my Sundays which only leaves Saturday to run errands and spend some father-son time which usually means chasing after him whenever he finds something new to climb. Work has been steady. Had to put in extra hours to free up work load to run off to Europe for a week and change (need to keep the wife happy too). Went hiking twice. Have not touched the bow or pulled a trigger since end of March. Will need to put some serious range time come August.

Seriously. We, as hunters, lament about the declining numbers but very few actually steps up to the plate and does something about it.

I was under the impression that it is okay for someone to use your firearms under your supervision (in your presence) but that you're held liable if something were to happen. That's my guess.

Congrats G-man! I was off by 1 number!

Motor vehicles has been the number one cause of unnatural deaths for a very long time and when was the last time something was done about it? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

https://www1.nyc.gov/html/nypd/downloads/pdf/permits/rifle_shotgun_permit_application.pdf Read page 7 of the PDF (which is page 2 of 8 of the application instruction guide). It lists Ruger Mini 14/5F specifically. Now I don't know enough about the Ruger Mini 14 to know if the 5F is a specific version that's different from any other Ruger Mini 14 so don't take my word for it. Also, when you call the office, pretty much everyone there has only general knowledge of the law. There is one lady (I forgot her name) but she is the only one who approves your registration. She only goes there twice a week for a few hours to review all the applications and stamps the approval. Everyone else only simply collects the applications and makes sure they're put together properly. They know the law, generally. But when it comes to the tiniest of details, that specific lady is who you want to talk to. She is the one you want to talk to but she is tough to catch since she's hardly there. Unfortunately, I forgot her name. She was very nice to me on the phone though and was very helpful. If you do find out more about the Mini 14, let us know. I'm now kind of curious myself.

I hate having to sharpen knives. I'm a fan of replaceable razor blades. http://www.amazon.com/Gerber-45924-E-Z-Zip-Sheath/dp/B000W0EW9I

The mini-14 also not allowed. Ares is new so I'm not sure if they've updated their list to include it or not. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It's easy to point a finger at the X-Box and iPhone and say that's the reason but that's sort of like admitting defeat. Sure it's a tough adversary but does that mean you shouldn't try? Generally, people won't have an interest in something if they never realize it's even an option. I never thought of hunting and camping growing up. No one in my family took me fishing or hiking. I went to college in Michigan and made some friends there. They went camping and invited me to go. I said, sure, why not? Fast forward almost 20 years and I'm here trying to promote outdoor activities. I've taken a few first timers out hiking, camping, or hunting. Some still do it. Some were one and done. But every single one of them has a much better appreciation for outdoor activities and now value our national parks. In the rural parts of the state, I'm sure every kid at least has one family member who participates in outdoor activities that'll introduce them to the sport. Even if they don't, it's right there in front of them. In the city who doesn't have anyone to introduce them to outdoor activities and they think you have to travel to some distant unknown land to do something like that. This is why people in the city are an untapped group because it is not like they had a choice between the X-Box and a fishing rod to choose from. The X-Box is the only choice they think they have.

There are a lot of people who grew up in the inner cities that never developed a love for nature because they never had the dad or uncle or what not who took them out. Even now after they've gotten older and now have a means of income, they still aren't aware of what is available to them only a short train/bus ride or drive away. Some times all it takes is some one to just show them what they're missing. The more people who would support conservation of our national parks the better. Let's forget the whole black and white issue here. At least this person is doing something to promote a love for nature. I always said that when we're trying to promote hunting or nature, people in the inner city is a large group of untapped potential.

I sometimes use my wife's pilates resistance bands. Not much resistance as I would want but you don't need heavy resistance to exercise plus it's already laying around in at place. http://www.modells.com/product/strength_training_loops_3_pack-5860.do?sortby=bestSellers&from=Search
