  1. Here's a nice pro-gun incidence. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/man-attempts-to-open-fire-on-crowd-at-movie-theater-armed-off-duty-sheriffs-deputy-drops-him-with-one-bullet/
  2. Here's more on the Cyclops Sirius. I called customer service and off course it's pass the warranty. They don't even sell the battery itself but directed me to where I can obtain it. The good news is that the battery is only $9.50. The bad news is when I read the instruction manual for the battery, it states that if the battery is completely drained down to zero charge (which would happen if you leave it in the closet for months) the battery will no longer function. That means, I can't even buy a spare battery to keep around.
  3. Let's just say out of the 10,000 gun related homicides a year, 100 of those came from criminals who were on the fringe. If some type of restriction prevented those 100 deaths but wasn't enough to prevent the other 9,900. Would those 100 lives be worth it?
  4. Your point in valid. What is needed in a restriction that will not infringe on the law abiding citizen but will make it hard for the crackhead sleeping in the corner. If I knew what that restriction is, I'd run for office. Unfortunately I don't. I just think one is needed.
  5. Those are the resourceful ones. The ones with an education. Most common crooks dropped out in 6th grade.
  6. Not all criminals are like the super resourceful ones in James Bond movies. The common criminals cannot obtain resources if a simple barrier is placed in front of them.
  7. Also, 12 gauge give you more flexibility and room for error when shooting upland birds, turkey, etc because it packs more pellets in every load. 20 gauge is lighter in recoil (if you're recoil sensitive) but there are less pellets, you need to have a better aim and a tiny bit closer. But when it comes to slugs (which is what you need for deer in NY...buck shots are not allowed for deer in NY), the 20 gauge is more accurate than the 12.
  8. Don't scuff at the 22LR. My 12 gauge and my 22 leaves my cabinet over 80% of the time. Deer hunting takes a ton of patience. Unless you have access to acres and acres of private land or a farm, you won't see too many deer when hunting. On top of that, gun season for deer is such a short season. Where as, small game season starts in September and runs pretty much into March. I also do a lot of deer scouting while out squirrel hunting.
  9. The Cyclops Sirius is trash! Don't get it. When you read the reviews, read the bad ones. The most common complaint people have is that the battery won't charge. Same thing happen to me. When I bought it, it was great! Super bright. After the season, I left it in my cabinet. At the end of this summer, I took it back out to use, it was dead. I plug the power cord into the wall, it works. When I left it there to charge, it won't hold the charge. Now it only works if I have it directly plugged into an outlet. I checked warranty, 90 day warranty. Yeah, the first 90 day the thing worked great. I went out an ordered the Wicked Light W400. It just came yesterday. The packaging looks fancy. Won't know how well it works until I bring it out into the field.
  10. You do realize that the report I posted shows that guns aren't the problem, right? The countries I mentioned all have high gun ownership and are very gun friendly but they have less crime that then the US. While I do feel guns are not the problem and removing guns won't eliminate crime, it does make it easier for the criminals.
  11. Interesting enough. If the anti keep using Japan as the prime example of a country with almost zero gun ownership and almost zero homicides then they need to point to other countries such as Norway, Switzerland, and Germany which all have high gun ownership but also very little homicides. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Number_of_guns_per_capita_by_country http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_intentional_homicide_rate Note: You can sort the homicides list by clicking on the double arrows next to the rate category heading.
  12. For deer, no. For coyotes, etc. Yes.
  13. Greg, not sure if you need it but if you want to, check out www.masskickers.org. It's an organization/support group started by a college buddy of mine when he went through something smiliar. Good luck and fight the good fight!
  14. Reloading would ease it a bit. Otherwise, at $5 a round, I wouldn't be able to afford to even shoot that thing.
  15. I find it funny that danc0320 started this thread as reminding everyone to keep an open mind and be civil when debating and yet somehow this thread evolved into a gun-ban debate.
  16. I live in NYC so I already live with the 5 round limit ban. That prevents me from owning several guns. Ruger was the only manufacturer to make a 5 round magazine for the 10/22 which allowed me to own one. If a 5 round limit was expanded to several other jurisdictions, I think more manufacturers would jump in a make 5 round versions of their current product. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying let's do this. But I do agree that if the politicians met and came away saying we have to give up one item, being forced to give up on the assault rifle while certainly would not be good but it would also affect me the least. To be honest, other than rimfires, I never hunt with more than 2 or 3 rounds in the gun anyway. Mainly out of laziness but also because I never forsee myself having to fire that many rounds where I would have to reload. I hunt with a 1 shot 1 kill mentality.
  17. I don't forgot who said it but there was a qoute that went something like this: Someone asked a wise man "how do I become a better person" The wise man responds "find the one philosopher you disagree with...then read his book." The point is, it is good to debate with people who opposes your views with an open mind. One of the reason you get into a debate isn't always to prove you're right, but to grow as a person. Just remember. When the KKK member asked his KKK friends if what he's doing is the right thing, none of them told him what he was doing was wrong.
  18. In a world where everyone has different opinions, you're never going to get exactly what you want. To get everything you want, you have to become the dictator.
  19. This all occurred in the last couple of days. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/crime/man-suspected-shooting-50-rounds-calif-mall-article-1.1221509 http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/indiana-man-arrested-threatening-shoot-school-article-1.1221531 http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/oklahoma-student-plotting-mass-shooting-police-article-1.1221032

    What to do

The right thing to do is fill the tag and report the kill. But besides morals, why else wouldn't you? Unless you're planning on hunting in Westchester or Long Island, the season is over so what are you planning to save the tag for anyway?
  21. Rain just killed me plans. I did get my deer this year so it was definitely a great season for me. No complaints. Now, to turn my attention to predators and late season squirrels.
  22. Great offer! I don't know why you didn't make that offer when I was looking to buy one?
  23. Will try to get out there on Sunday. Not so sure about tomorrow.
