Very good point, NYbuck50. I guess once the rifle comes in I'll see how much I need to add by feeling it.

I measured it myself after I looked online on way to measure yourself.

Funny you mentioned. I just ordered the Handi Rifle in a youth model on Friday. I plan on buying an replacement stock. My length of pull is 13 and 1/2 inches. I figure I'm closer to the 14 and 1/4" adult stock then the 11 and 3/4" youth stock. I wanted the youth model because it's the only one in their line that offers 223 caliber with iron sights. Plus it's a shorter barrel. The adult version is slightly longer barrel without iron sights.

Hunting on NYC Airports soon?
Elmo replied to Elmo's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Hmmm...didn't think about that. I was hoping more like they can't get enough government employee volunteers so they open it to screened permits, etc. -
http://www.guns.com/bill-proposes-hunting-geese-7395.html Bill being proposed. Won't be open to the general public if passed but at least it'll be a nice step in the right direction.

Only restriction for Cranberry Mountain is that during big game season it's shotgun only.

There all many rules and they tend to overlap. You have the DEC rules but then each individual park may impose their own rules. If you're not sure, you can simply contact the DEC and let them know which area you are planning to hunt and they'll answer your question. They are understaffed so you might get a machine but each time I've left a message, they've always called back the same day.

The Sako A7 is listed on their website at $1400. If you can grab it at $600, I think you should. And Lawdwaz, I got your point, I was responding to this from the original poster: "True true but i think ill nock out the sako if the magazine is $85 thats ridiculess thanks"

You're willing to spend $2000 on a rifle and scope combo but you're worried about the $85 for an extra magazine which you might never need if you don't lose or break your original magazine?

I agree with Lawdwaz. I use the Remington 700 and it will really come down to your own personal preference. Check them all out and see how they feel in your hand. The only thing I don't agree with Lawdwaz is the aversion to detachable box magazines. I have nothing against them.

I believe you're talking about resistance bands. You can buy them from most sporting goods store in the exercise equipment section.

Groundhog hunting in the southern 1/2 of NY
Elmo replied to Fur N Feathers's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
Don't know any spots but if you can set something up, I'm more than happy to join. -
Customer rep. Means I would say a few things and then put back on hold for a few minutes.

Had to go back and edit my 20 million typos. Never post and talk to a customer rep on the phone at the same time.

#1. Regarding the macho pissing contest. My bow was set to 52 lbs by the shopsmith even though I think I should be pulling around 60 to 65 lbs. He wanted me to use a low draw to help me develop a proper form and it made sense to me. I see similarities at the gym where you see these guys doing dumbbell curls that are so heavy, they're rocking back and forth. Then you see a friend of mine who serves as my part time personal trainer. He's 6'2 and 240 lbs of pure muscle and he's curling less than half their weight but if you didn't see his arms going up and down you would think he's statue there standing perfectly still. My bow is set to 52 lbs but I can draw that back in my sleep. A guy I know that set his draw weight so heavy, he has to point the bow up to help him draw back and trembles he's when he does. Naturally, he had access to his friends private land and his friend practically hand fed him a deer and he spooked it when drawing his bow. When I tell him he needs to lower the draw weight, he insist he can draw this weight. I think he thinks because he's slightly bigger than me, he has to draw more than me. If you can draw 70 lbs with ease, then by all means, you should. But if you struggle to draw 70, you shouldn't feel that you need to. #2. As far as long term effects, as long as you stretch and exercise, I don't think you will have a problem. I do lateral pull downs and/or rows at the gym all the time. 3 sets of 12 reps. That's 36 "draws" and possibly 72 if I do both. I would sometimes do this twice a week. You have other athletes and bodybuilders who do much more and they don't complain about shoulder problems. Most injuries comes from someone who's only exercise is lifting the remote and potatoe chips and then all of a sudden wants to try and pull back 70 lbs in the cold.

Shot at noise without visual confirmation is a major no-no. Oh wait...he mistaken his girlfriend for a fat pig? Well, now. That's very understandable.

Congratz!

Pinky? I thought pinky was the least important? Followed by the ring finger. Worth noting: If you place you hand flat on a table with the palm down, the ring finger is the only one you can't lift up on it's own.

Dove Hunting Season
Elmo replied to mike rossi's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
From what I read it's not that they are trying to protect the species but rather they never bother classifying the dove at all. Not enough people has put enough pressure on the DEC to categorize the dove and set a season for it. The dove has been completle ignored by the DEC.- 70 replies

Geez! Man, good luck. Wish you the best and a speedy recovery.

Woah! Ouch! I guess the good thing is you didn't lose more. Hopefully you can still shoot a bow and pull a trigger.

I'm not familiar with Olympus and I don't know how you would send directly from the camera but I would just copy the picture on to your computer and then send an email with the picture file as an attachment. Most cameras, when you connect it to the computer it shows up as an external drive.

God bless America, indeed!
