  1. Riverdale/Kingsbridge area of the Bronx. I've seen skunks, opposums, raccoons, and coyotes. My guess is they follow the metro-north railway that runs along the hudson river. A patch of wood seperates the train tracks from residential homes. They can come down the whole way and never run into people. Once they hit Riverdale which is the bottom of the Bronx, right before Manhattan, that patch of wood ends and they spill out into residential area.
  2. See those movies where someone dives into a river and people are shooting at him and you see the bullets whiz by underwater? Not true...water completely stops bullets, especially at an angle.
  3. This looks like it can come in real handy.
  4. Do you prefer a longer or shorter length of pull? With the desire to have shorter and lighter rifles, would having a short length of pull effect the shooting performance?
  5. Shooting dirt to scare off a crimimal is a crime? That's just royally f-ed up!
  6. Wait...didn't PETA has an issue with stem cell research? Not sure if they were flat out against it or they just simply disapproved of it. So they won't advocate stem cell research to help cure to help find a cure for cancer so we can save human beings but they would support stem cell research so we can save cows.
  7. I always enjoy a good squirrel hunt. It's a lot more casual that big game hunting. Big game hunting requires some work. Gotta wash your clothes, use the scent blocker, etc. With squirrel hunting, you just pick up your rifle and go on a nice casual hike. Sometimes, I forget I'm actually hunting at all.
  8. I imagine I would prefer the 24" barrel length of the regular encore over the 28" of the pro-hunter barrel.
  9. A bit off topic but speaking of the encore pro hunter, can you install a regular encore barrel or even a g2 contender barrel on a pro hunter assembly or vice versa?
  10. I'm skeptical about it. I think a lot of the little bones will break off and get stuck in the fish when you push the fish through it.
  11. WNYBuckHunter - yeah, 3" groups at 50 yards results in a ton of frustrations and misses. Reviews I read are that people are getting 2.5" to 3" groups at 100 yards. That...I can live with. I'm following this thread to see how the the O-ring works out for ants.
  12. Wow. Where's this Dick's at? At that price you certainly can't go wrong.
  13. $165 with a scope? Wow. Most places I've seen it at is $225+.
  14. I've been thinking of getting the NEF Handi-Rilfe in .223 also. I hear they're not tack drivers but really, how bad/good are they? And this O-ring you talk of...are they those rubberbands they use for plumbing? So you just push this ring down the barrel between the stock to lift it off the stock?
  15. Damn, Steve! You didn't look like you need to lose much to begin with.
  16. It's annoying when the guys who are talking smack has never hunted before nor do they ever get off their couch. They give the "Ha! You suck. My boss got three deers this year." Of course their boss owns private land in PA.
  17. Well said, nyantler. Also, some of those who complain and have used, didn't configure their filters. My girlfriend was against facebook. Then her sister created an account for her on her behalf and my girlfriend started complaining. Then I helped her block certain posts, organize her friends into groups, and help setup filters. Now she checks facebook everyday.
  18. Two lice buddies would always meet down in Florida during the winter break. One year, one of the lice showed up with the worst cold ever. Lice #1. What happened to you? Lice #2. I hitched a ride on the beard of a biker and it was freezing with all that wind. Lice#1. Do what I do. I go to a sorority house and hitch a take a ride in one of the girls pubes. It is soft and toasty down there. The following year, the lice showed up again with a horrible cold. Lice #1. What happened? Didn't you take my advice? Lice #2. I did. I found a sorority girl and climbed down to her pubes like you said. It was so warm down there, I decided to take a nap but when I woke up, I was back on the beard of a biker.
  19. postedboy, nah man..that's the kind of stuff I want to see. I grew up in the Bronx and still live there myself. You watch all these hunting show and other videos and these guys go up there and bring a buck out 5 minutes later and you start to think it's as easy as picking up groceries. I figured out real early that it's hard but still, you come home and friends and family who don't hunt talk smack like "look at this kid, he can't catch anything". That's why it's good to see videos that shows the real side of hunting. That it takes a bit of work. Gives me the confidence knowing it's not just me, it's everybody, and I'm not doing anything wrong, this is what hunting is really like.
  20. fishin....i'm not offended. I'm hardly offended. martin...PM sent.
  21. The craziest follow I heard was this hispanic dude who was caught cheating on his fiance'. He kept on flying to south america on business trips. when he got caught, he later reveal that he's actually already married to some woman in colombia. On the follow up, apparently the fiance called off the wedding obviously but she also got a hold of the wife in colombia to tell her about her husband. Well, the wife then shot the dude dead.
  22. I listen to the war of the roses everyday at work because one of my staff leaves the radio on during work. We all stop working when war of the roses comes on. Some of them can be real funny. They also do follow ups to tell you how the "couple" are doing months later.
  23. Martin, I have plans to do some hunting tomorrow but during the day. What do you have in mind?
