  1. 16 is no longer a youth/junior hunter and can hunt from an elevated position. Only restriction for 16-17 year olds is as follows. 16- and 17-Year-Old First Time Big Game Hunters Resident and non-resident hunting license holders aged 16 and 17 who have not previously hunted deer or bear must be accompanied for the entire season by a parent, legal guardian, or by a person designated in writing who is 18 years of age or older. The adult mentor must be licensed to hunt big game and have at least 1 year of big game hunting experience.
  2. Yes, Online course is still available. My daughter took both the hunters education and bow hunting course online this year. I feel newer hunters that don't come from a hunting family/background would benefit the most from an in class room discussion. The online version I think fit well for my daughter and probably most of our kids on this forum because they are learning about hunting at an early age from us and from being in the woods. My daughter has way more hunting knowledge at 12 than I did at 16-20 years old. My early hunting knowledge was sit here, don't move and shoot the first deer that comes along.
  3. I sat on the south edge of a field on Sunday morning. The north end is about 450 yards away. I was happy with how much and how well I could see. Inside the woods has been real thick still so this was my first chance to really test them out.
  4. Calling it. 6 doe seen. Closet where 170 yards. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. The ladies are toying with my emotions. Had 2 pop out on the other end of the field 350ish yards away. They milled about for a while then went back in the woods. Bout an hour later a catch them making a b line right at me in the field on the edge of the woods. They get to about 170 yards and duck into the woods. Haven’t seen em since. 6. My weather app lied to me I was surprised to find that it was only 28 degrees and not 42. I didn’t see a single deer on the drive in this morning. I’m sitting over a large field with a food plot right in front of me hoping they come out for a late breakfast. Haven’t seen anything yet Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Slow start for myself this morning. Not super motivated. Todays weather will be like all the other days I’ve hunted and haven’t seen anything. 42 degrees right now and only getting warmer with a high of 65. If I had more days to hunt I’d probably skip today but when time is limited you hunt when you can. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Very nice! I’d count him as a seven point Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Very nice! I’d count him as a seven point Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Drink? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I should have called in "sick" this morning
  12. They are a lot more comfortable than the metal with the foam pad. I have one made by field and stream that I'd guess is getting close to being out for 10 years. They make universal replacement seats but I've never bought one so I don't know the quality or comfort.
  13. It feels so weird/unsafe to carry a cocked crossbow with a bolt loaded. I never felt weird/unsafe walking around with a loaded gun. Maybe it’s the size and awkwardness of the crossbow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I'm glad he's OK what a crazy series of events but I'm with @crappyice ice on this, so many more questions. Let's start with how did the bolt get there in the first place?
  15. Lot's of deer in the fields on my way into work today.
  16. Yes! The post I’ve been waiting for! Congratulations to Kaiden as well as you and your father. What a great experience and memory together. One that will never be forgotten Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Calling it quits. Didn’t see anything again. Headed home to get some work done. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Not seeing deer is getting terribly frustrating Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. I’m for the morning. Hoping to at least see something. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Starting to cool off a little. At least it feels more like hunting and less like sun tanning. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Up and in. 73 freeking degrees out. Sitting in a bunch of oaks that have dropped acorns about 60 yards in from the field line. Not expecting much. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Great looking pup congratulations! I too am all about the giant breeds. After losing our lab back in 2020 we are about ready to get another dog. My wife is stuck on a St. Berdoodle. Mix of St Bernard and a full sized poodle. Cute buggers and they go 100+ pounds. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. 100% agree. I'd even say that $100 is dirt cheap for all of that. I'll spend over $100 just on beer and whisky during the hunting season. Not saying it will happen but what if that $100 turns into $200 then maybe $300? It wont stop me but it may stop some people.
  24. It's a rich man sport right now only if you want it to be. You can still use that old gun, old clothes, public land etc. But as the cost of things rises that you can't avoid like gas, bullets, arrows and broadheads it's defiantly trending to be more and more expensive. And what happens when NY decides to raise the license fee's?
  25. I know the weekend is going to be warm but the pressure jumps up above 30 starting Saturday morning. I'm hunting Saturday evening and Sunday morning.
