  1. actually he called the politicians a-holes, not you. He said you sound like them.
  2. But you cant compare the two based on price. But if you really want to go down that road, I have more money into my Remmy 700 308 than most have into their hunting ready ARs. 30 rounds has nothing to do with it, and 223 has nothing to do with it, you can buy or build just about any caliber on an AR platform. The attractions are mostly: -semiauto that is ridiculously accurate -modular, so you can build it exactly how you want it -light weight (generally speaking) If you have never messed around with one, you really should, they are amazing rifles.
  3. I just discovered a recipe for making maple wine yesterday, and another for distilling vodka from it. Hmmmmm.... BTW, the buckets were over flowing again yesterday. Funny how a few degrees make all the difference.
  4. Yep, saw them there. Didnt notice if Field and Stream has them though. What I meant is that the big box stores play it overly safe anymore. The stocks make them easier to differentiate, so they will sell them that way. Mag locks are harder to differentiate just by looking at the rifle.
  5. LOL, no way, mine isnt up to snuff with yours yet. Next year I will be tapping more, I have 8 or 9 large sugar maples at my dads that I can double or triple tap, plus a few more silver maples at my place that I can tap as well. My trees arent even running this week for some reason. I figured yesterday they would have, but the buckets have been pretty much empty for 2 days.
  6. 4 taps. 2 in one large tree, thats about 24" and one in each of the other trees, which are maybe 18" in diameter.
  7. Nope. Big box stores are afraid of their own shadows though. Dicks pulled all ARs from the shelves 10 mins after Sandy Hook happened. Im sure if King Andy could have the small shops that are selling them charged, he would by now.
  8. There are shops selling them with the mag locks as well.
  9. They havent released anything in writing that the stocks would make it legal either as far as I know. If you have to take the upper and lower apart to remove the magazine, its the same as any other fixed magazine, regardless of how fast you can do it. Im not sure about the bullet button though.
  10. Last week my 3 trees ran 26 gallons of sap. I boiled down 20 and ended up with 1 3/4 quarts of pure deliciousness. More to come this week.
  11. You are comparing a bolt action to a semi auto. ARs are "meant for hunting" as much as any other rifle.
  12. Its not only based on your browser history, there are some things that come up regardless. It all depends on how much the advertiser spends. A good chunk, however, is based on browser history. Facebook ads are like that too. Take a peek into Google Advertisements and youll see what its all about. Its pretty slick actually.
  13. There arent many factory semi autos out there that can hang with an AR in the accuracy department. Especially for the same money. you can put any optics on an AR that you want.
  14. The others are correct. This site uses Google Ads, and they are based on the cookies and search history of the computer you are using. They are not chosen by the site.
  15. Regardless of how you meant it, it came off as a slam on the prizes. I dont care if you razz me for how long its taken to send things out, I feel bad that it has, stuff is boxed and sitting in my dining room but circumstances havent been condusive to me taking the stuff to the UPS hub to ship. One of the winners stopped by my house and picked his stuff up. I do get the rice a roni reference though.
  16. The prizes for this contest were unsolicited donations, each and every one of them. Most were the material prizes shown, and the QDMA memberships are basically cash out of the donor's pocket. If you dont like the prizes for the contests, feel free to donate some that you feel are better. The members that donated the prizes should feel very good about what they did, and not have their offerings slandered by others. Classy
  17. These are the same plot. You can see how its growing pretty good in bow season, then not much come gun opener, then gone down to dirt by the end of the season. Halloween Gun Opener End of season
  18. Yeah there were some oats in the 7 card stud mix IIRC. They got hammered pretty good too. The WR literally got eaten to the dirt. Ill see if I have some pics...
  19. As soon as I have the chance Joe, I havent forgotten about you, I have alot going lately.
  20. On our place this past year, the Groundhog Radishes got hit hard during bow season, as did the 7 card stud mix (radishes, red clovers and a couple other things), and the Winter Rye was getting hammered at that time. Come gun season the WR was gone, so those plots lost alot of the action they had during bow season. During gun the focus was any standing beans, corn and PTTs, etc. This year I will have more WR planted.
  21. Those are nice too Culver. When I put the lift on my truck, Ill probably put 35" Grabbers on it.
  22. BTW, for your truck, take a look at the Hankook Dynapro ATMs. I had a set on my truck before I bought the BFGs and they were great tires. My ex has a set on her Durango, and she is on her 4th year with them. She doesnt drive a ton of miles, but those tires are in great shape. Awesome tires for on and off road, as well as winter.
  23. Make sure you look at the date codes on the tires before the shop installs them. The dry rotting issue is usually due to tires that have been sitting in a warehouse for years before they get installed.
  24. Im the king of overkill. You have the same tires or do you mean 10 plys in general?
