As far as Illinois goes, look at a CWD map, its migrated into the state from Wisconson. Where did it come from there? In VA, its been in one particular location. Source could have been a deer shot in a CWD state and the carcass disposed of there. Hard to tell, but the number of deer tested around the state and all 7 of the positive ones coming from the same area points to a localized problem from a single point of origin. I havent expressed my opinion on any of the other things, so your assumptions on those are just that. Live deer movement is the nail that sticks out the furthest. Still waiting on those links/quotes.

Yep, they have been testing for it for quite some time in areas and its just now popping up where it previously didnt. Every single time that it has been recently detected in new areas, its been associated with a deer farm. You do the math.

Ive heard him speak and seen his writings in the magazine, articles, etc and have never ever heard him say that. If its easy to find, post up a link. Im not going to sit here and have the same "CWD does nothing to deer" argument with you. I am also not going to argue that the deer farming industry hasnt accelerated the spread of it. Its all the same BS that you keep spouting in thread after thread after thread, and no matter how many times you say it, it doesnt make what you say true. One thing that is true, however, is that the vaccine you claim in the thread is "proven to work", still requires additional research and testing before its truly proven, or are you just trying to steer away from that? Im done responding unless you can post up some proof of the QDMA or NRA making the statements you claim they have.

I agree, I have a red that was mounted, and it was never quite right. The hide is peeling in places now. Not even repairable. Waste of money and a nice hide.

You dont need a red filtered light. If you get an LED spotlight with a blueish tint to the light, they will not spook, and you can see far more clearly than with the red filter. The biggest pain hunting by yourself at night is working the call, light and rifle all by yourself, but it can be done. I hunt by myself at times. More fun with a buddy though.

I got down to the farms the last two weekends and finished up pulling seat cushions, safety straps, securing hoist ropes and loosening ratchet straps on all of our stands. I also took all of my carcasses down and put them in a pile, and hung a cam over them. I actually wanted to hang two cams, with one on video mode, but I forgot to do that, so all Ill have are stills. We still have another bunch of carcasses to put out, so maybe we will do video on that pile. Now that the holidays are over, and all of the stands are buttoned up, its time for predators!

That stand would be perfect for a ladder stand with three changes. 1 - foot platform going all the way back to the tree 2 - flip up seat 3 - flip up shooting rail Also, Id like to have some type of detachable shooting rail for my hang ons. Not some junk that just straps to the tree, it would need two adjustable supports that would attach to the foot platform somehow as well, to make it nice and solid. The biggest hangup would be it cant get in the way when entering/exiting the stand.

Please, back up your statements that anyone in the QDMA has said that CWD will wipe out all deer, or the majority of them. Not some members in the forums, someone that is an actual employee of the organization. Same with the NRA. CWD is a legitimate concern, and its been proven to have been spread faster by the deer farming industry. Now the deer farming industry is dumping all kinds of money into the research to find a fix to the problem, as it should be. Why should the states pony up all the money to fix a problem that a private industry has created. And dont take that to mean I think created the disease, I mean they have accelerated the spread of it. The birth control crap is just nonsense that gets drummed up by the antis. Wasted money and effort.

Mouth calls are easier than they seem, they are also cheap, small and easy to carry, and not every joe blow uses one. Predators will get used to hearing the same calls, and after a time or two of busting a hunter using one, they will not respond to the same old Fox Pro recording.

So wait, rifle bullets dont tumble after they hit something and ricochet? They dont lose any of their speed or momentum? The dont fragment or deform? Sounds like magic lol. Testing has shown that shotgun slugs hold together better and tend to go further with more momentum after a ricochet than smaller, lighter rifle bullets.

I honestly havent seen anyone say that CWD alone is going to wipe out herds. I have seen organizations convey concerns about it and show that it is a threat to wild cervids, and it is, is it not? I am being real here, its good progress, but the vaccine still looks to be far from proven, and then, you would have to figure out a way to vaccinate the millions of wild deer with it. The QDMA and as far as I know, the NRA have not invested anything into deer birth control. What are you talking about?

Most people dont hear the shots. I have hunted within 100 yards of my old house, and shot a fox with a braked AR15, and people in the room with windows facing me never heard it.

For a really good mobile option, find an old utility or boat trailer thats a bit larger than the footprint of the tower you are building, and build the tower on top of it. You can make the shooting house part removable, or foldable for transportation to another property. Install trailer stabilizers at all 4 corners and youll be good to go. We are planning on building one of these, around 10 to 12 feet to the platform. It will be done on an old boat trailer, and the shooting house will be hinged to fold down. Setup will require the ATV/winch to lift or lower the shooting house. You can build one fairly inexpensively, depending on the cost of the trailer. Another option Ive seen is guys using old grain wagons as a base to put a blind on top of. Do a Google search for grain wagon blind. Some of them are pretty darn sweet.
