If You're Against Crossbows During Archery
WNYBuckHunter replied to Five Seasons's topic in Bow Hunting
I thought so. Another subject I disagree with them about. They are all for an early ML season here in the SZ. What was proposed IIRC was an early ML season for units that arent filling their allotted doe tags. That was only a couple of years ago. -
I had Tarjac give me a quote on my bow, it was @ $100 plus shipping costs. I just havent gotten around to sending it to them. Ive seen their work, what Ive seen has always been top notch.

Especially when they push so hard against another bow in bow season lol. BTW, NYB didnt push for the youth season did they? I thought they were against that. -

Im not saying NYB is the same as hitler. Go back and re-read what I said without the chip on your shoulder. -
Check out Tarjac as well.

If You're Against Crossbows During Archery
WNYBuckHunter replied to Five Seasons's topic in Bow Hunting
And your theory is incorrect. I, and most likely others, am not disgruntled with the NYB over crossbows, its their arrogant, elitist attitude that I have a problem with. Their hypocrisy and underhanded tactics are also deplorable. Sure, theyve done some good, but not everything Hitler did was bad either. -
I thought Id share some of the videos I got from the first pull from my cam. The first ones are a series that went from a doe entering the area until she left. Shows how they dont even seem to notice or react to the black flash cam at all. Heres a couple more that I thought were neat. I like seeing their behavior when they arent spooked, etc. Notice the bedded deer in the second one.

As far as what needs fixing is the recruitment of the overall sport of hunting, not bow hunting particularly.
-
Of course they do, no one, including myself has been saying differently. You are completely discounting the advantages that compounds have over crossbows, and you are also ignoring the FACT that both weapons have the same effective range, therefore requiring the same skills to even get the intended target into a position for a shot.

The governor can ask that it be brought to a vote. Im not saying its a sure thing, Im saying Id rather see it voted on rather than blocked by one person with an agenda, regardless of the outcome -
If You're Against Crossbows During Archery
WNYBuckHunter replied to Five Seasons's topic in Bow Hunting
I already said that you have brought up this idea of eventually bringing guns into archery before. I have no "feud" with the NYB, I just see them for what they are, hypocritical elitists who have caused one of the largest divisions in the NY hunting community in history. I dont agree with them, and I see them as a black eye on the hunting community. Funny that when you are the one doing the name calling, its "appropriate and accurate", but when the shoe is on the other foot, the person doing it is "pathetic" or "immature" or something else that you come up with. -
Im talking overall hunting numbers, not bowhunting numbers. I made that perfectly clear already. "There will be ZERO hunters that start hunting because they can use a crossbow. All it does it extend the season of the gun hunter now wishing to take the easy way into archery. I do not see any youth joining or new hunters joining because now they can use a crossbow. This hunter has already started with a bow or a gun." Provide proof and numbers to back up your statements, otherwise you are talking out of your ass. I clearly stated that crossbows arent a fix-all, they are PART of the solution. "Best way to get new hunters? more land and better access. #1 issue in our sport hands down." I agree that land access is another part of the overall problem that needs to be addressed.

If You're Against Crossbows During Archery

I said I didnt agree with their method of generating a couple of statistics in the report, not that I dont agree with their stances on issues. Your comments on this site have demonstrated that you in fact, do not understand the stances of the QDMA (theres no plural of QDMA btw). If you dont want to discuss the issue any longer, then stop coming back to it. Cant handle the truth about NYB, then dont bring them up. -
Which is why you do that on a windy day. I did just that during bow season last year while we were tracking a buck for someone. I got to within 15 yards of 3 does I spotted through the corn, just couldnt get a shot. If it would have been gun season, at least one would have been dead.

If You're Against Crossbows During Archery
WNYBuckHunter replied to Five Seasons's topic in Bow Hunting
LMAO, if you call the constant backing down on their "stance" success, then I guess youre dead on. Ultimately, they will fail. Its just a matter of time before Sweeny is forced to allow a vote, or the issue is put to a vote by going around him. As Ive said before belo, Id have far less of a problem if the matter was put to a vote and failed, than I do with the dirty politics that the NYB is promoting on the issue. -

LOL Culver, he has no clue what the QDMA is about. Hes just trying to take a shot at me because the organization he belongs to goes against what he thinks is right, so to make himself feel better, he tries to pawn his guilt off on me. He also has no freaking clue how I feel on the issue of ARs. He seems to think that just because Im against mandatory ARs, that Im also against ARs all together, which anyone that knows me understands, is completely untrue. -
While I see your view of things as a bit noble, the problem with it is that what we have been doing has been causing a decline in hunter numbers. I love the sport of bow hunting as much as you do, and I want it to continue for my kids and their kids. I realize that if changes arent made, and participation doesnt increase, our numbers will become so small that we will have little to no influence in the political arena, which unfortunately, needs to be there. I also see the crossbow for what it is, and see what changes occurred in states that have already legalized it. I just dont see it making a negative impact. Its not a fix all, but if it brings new hunters into the sport, and keeps some in the game a few years longer, with no negative impact, Im all for it.

Good year for apples?
WNYBuckHunter replied to NYBuckHunter27's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
lol, mine too. Im new at this fruit tree thing. -
Hey, if there needs to be some kind of "compromise", Ill support that one. Split archery in two, first half is compounds and crossbows, second is left to traditional only. Sounds good to me. Then we take gun season (late ML included) and split that in two. First half is any gun, second half muzzle loader only. Im in!

If You're Against Crossbows During Archery
WNYBuckHunter replied to Five Seasons's topic in Bow Hunting
Telling the truth about them is not attacking them. As far as being on their nuts, it seems to me like the ones on their nuts are the ones that support them regardless of what their actions are. You know what you can do with your comment about what I can or cant talk about... -
Just because you can setup prone doesnt mean youll successfully do it and get a shot at a deer at bow range Doc. A rifle is a completely different animal, you are talking 10 times or more range capability. Lets not start comparing apples and oranges again. Yes, a crossbow has some advantages for people that are not proficient with a vertical bow, or cannot draw one. Youre being silly if you think a person that is proficient with a bow cant make the same shots with a vertical bow. I practice at 60 yards regularly, and can hit my target just fine out there. Would I take the shot in a hunting situation? Probably not. Would I take it in a hunting situation with a crossbow? Probably not. Why? The same reasons, wind, animal reaction, unseen obstructions at that distance. Its still just an arrow flying through the air off of a string. For people that arent going to practice as much, yes, Id rather see them use something that requires less practice. When did I ever say the contrary?

Im not talking about what Four Seasons said Doc. Im talking about this same "they are going to try and add guns to archery season" thing that you keep inserting into almost every crossbow debate. Sorry if the truth about the NYB hurts, but it is the truth. Nice to see the name calling make an appearance though. -
Good year for apples?
WNYBuckHunter replied to NYBuckHunter27's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
How long have you had the peach trees Doc? Ive been thinking about adding a couple to my fruit collection lol -
I dont know that i would go that far. I would actually like to see gun season shortened by a week, and late muzzle loader lengthened by that week. I do realize that inlines are superior to flintlocks, etc, but they still lack many advantages to rifles, shotguns, etc.
