  1. Not necessarily. As a hunter, you know its not a 10 minute, or even 1 hour deal all the time. All of the farmers I know that get nuisance tags farm pretty large amounts of land, plus need to maintain their equipment, barns, homes, tend to any animals, etc. They just dont have time, and rather than pay the farm hands an hourly wage to do it, they get us hunters to come in and take care of it for free. I do feel the DEC needs to revamp the system a bit, and improve accountability of kills somehow, but they are spread pretty thin as is.
  2. But it doesnt make sense for areas that have extremely low or no doe tag allocation.
  3. Yep, set it for 1080. Its seems ok, but the frame rate is a bit slow. Ill give 720 a try next time I swap the cards. Im probably going to switch my 2012 model over from photo to video as well.
  4. Lead Sled. Recoil during practice all but eliminated.
  5. With 20 second clips in a high activity area for a week, in HD (1080p) it takes up just a hair over 1Gb of space. 25 or 30 second clips are no sweat, even for a month with a 16Gb card.
  6. The farmers are busy working the farms. I hunt farms that some years get nuisance permits and always get DDPs. They dont have time to sit there and hunt. Some of them will shoot them if/when they have the opportunity, but mostly they allow others in to get it taken care of for them. I wouldnt call it dirty work or anything like some others on this thread are calling it. Lets face it, the crops are their lively hood, the deer are taking money out of their pockets.
  7. No respite for me. Im heading to Georgia later today, and its supposed to be the same weather we have here for the entire time Im down there, then Ill be back home just in time for it to heat back up again.
  8. I might take one IF i hit it or saw it get hit, and the only damage was to the head. I dont want to pick bone fragments out of the meat. Also, in this kind of heat, the meat can spoil FAST, if its been laying long, forget it.
  9. I know the words werent directed, but the sentiment was. That quote had nothing to do with anything being talked about.
  10. It was not long after I put the warning out there, again, not the first one for the thread. I dont have anything against Biz, but when I put the warning out there and almost right after that get what amounts to an F U, that person is asking for it. That thread was shortly thereafter locked, as this one will be if it follows the same path.BTW, if you have a problem with my moderating, take it up with me in PMs or shoot a message to burmjohn.
  11. Ive caught a couple of things in the last 5 seconds. I think I actually upped it to 25 when I checked it last time. I use the 16gb cards, and have plenty of room for longer vids and much longer marinades.
  12. A nuisance deer isnt an illegal deer, so there was no implication. As far as language goes, refer to my last post.
  13. You did it, what? 10 minutes after I warned everyone not to? That warning was either the second or third time I asked everyone to simmer down the language. It wasnt the word that got you put into time out.
  14. The land owner is older, but it will stay in the family. He recently put all of his land (@ 1200 acres) into the land conservancy program so it can never be developed, only farmed. The creek I drew with blue feeds a larger creek, which flows to the Genesee eventually
  15. belo, I had to crawl through it last year to track my buck. Same deal, belly crawled some of it. I ended up finding him laying in a clear cut path though, so it was easy to get him out.
  16. This one is @ 225, only a piece of it is pictured EDITED as I measured the tax map
  17. Why are you that concerned with getting it right away? DMPs are a lottery system, not exactly first come first served. As for online, they go on sale the same day online as they do anywhere else. You can use a debit card if you like.
  18. I cant speak for John, but I know he has had a ton going on with home renovations and the new baby, possibly other things as well. Have patience, he will get to it as soon as he can.
  19. Thanks Phade. My hunting partner has a 30+ year relationship with the land owners. Short of something catastrophic happening, we arent too worried about losing access. The work is something we like doing, and we are not spending much at all on equipment, as most of it we either already have or are borrowing from the landowner and a farmer we know. Any equipment we buy can either be sold off or used on other ventures if need be. We are buying seed and fertilizer on the cheap, and have budgeted x amount per year for it. The plots are on the small side, so the costs shouldnt get out of hand. Our biggest concern is the other group at this point.
  20. We are planning to have our plots planted by the end of the 1st week in August, or at least thats what we are hoping for.
