  1. I havent taken one yet, and have never claimed to. I havent seen pics of you with a nice buck you took with a bow either. Whats your point?
  2. Well, it really ought to be a much smaller issue with archery if crossbows are legalized. I dont see it leading to more bad shots, they are easier to shoot, which should equate to more good shots. I just fail to see how that is a bad thing.
  3. Theres no regulation that says you have to wear your drivers license on a necklace. Theres also no exemption to the backtag regulation for private land.
  4. The numbers on the tag include the year.
  5. Every time you guys mention that unicorn of a season "hammer season", i get excited! Bring it on already! Ill put a bungee cord in my tree, then tie my harness to it, jump out of my stand, hit the deer in the head with my hammer and bungee to safety! Yeah buddy!
  6. Well, you can still go to a non AR area and shoot whatever buck youd like.
  7. I seriously suggest you start reading up on deer biology instead of how to get bigger racks. Deer numbers do not equate deer or herd health. Carrying capacity determines how many healthy deer an area can support. Keep your herd near that, and theres a good chance its a healthy herd. Western NY doesnt have a 1:1 or 1:2 or even a 1:3 buck:doe ratio, but we have a pretty healthy herd in most areas. BTW, how many bucks you see has nothing to do with how many there are in the herd. You may just not be in the right place to see them, they may be winding you and leaving before you knew they were there, or there could be 18 other reasons why you arent seeing them. There are guys that hunt the same farms I do, and they go all season seeing 1 or 2 bucks, and complain there arent many around. I see plenty of them through the season on the same ground. I just dont hunt where they do or how they typically do. One of the reasons less DMPs have not worked as effectively as they could for some areas, are the state wide either sex tags. Does are still being taken from areas that cant handle the removal of them.
  8. No it isnt, DEC was pressured into putting ARs into place by groups of people that want them. They (DEC) have said multiple times that ARs do nothing for herd health. Look, I know full well that ARs do work to accomplish what they are meant for. They are not meant to fix B to D ratio, they are not meant to make a more "healthy herd". ARs are meant to let the low hanging fruit get bigger (so to speak). Thats all. The problems downstate will not get fixed just with ARs. You will NEVER have the type of herd we have in WNY. Why? You dont have the soil. You dont have the habitat. You have alot of public ground. You have more hunters per square mile. Can you improve some of those things? Sure, but you will never make it like it is here, no matter how many points on a side there has to be for you to pull the trigger.
  9. I vote Predator. Im going with Green Deception on mine.
  10. BTW, crossbows were around a long time before guns were, how is it they are a cross between a gun and anything else?
  11. You can rest a vertical bow while you aim as well, you just need the right stabilizer to do it. The compound has its fair share of advantages over a crossbow as well. Whats your point? Bottom line is that they both kill in the same manor at the same distances. Nobody is trying to force anything on you, you will still have the choice NOT to use a crossbow. You guys must be of the same cloth that wants mandatory antler restrictions so that others arent shooting deer that you think shouldnt be killed.
  12. Check this out as well. From what I hear, its better and less expensive than dipping http://www.kolorfusion.com/home.html After reading up on what Tarjac is doing now days, Im glad I didnt send my bow to them.
  13. Agreed. If you dont care, then save a few bucks.
  14. No, a crossbow IS a bow. You really should lay off the power trip and stop telling people what they should, shouldnt, can or cant say.
  15. Hold on, you spout that nonsense and call ME clueless? Let me remind you of what you said... I could sit here and break that comment down and point out all of the BS, but I dont really need to because its all completely obvious. So again, if bowhunters (because thats what we are talking about here, not gun hunters) are no more effective than they were 30 years ago, put your money where you mouth is and prove it.
  16. So in your estimates, 10% will move to a crossbow, which will more than likely (since we are doing nothing more than pulling numbers out of our butts anyway) include 95% of the guys that dont practice enough and shouldnt really be slinging arrows at deer anyway. Hows that a bad thing again???
  17. Seeing as NYCC has been around for all of a year, their list of accomplishments and recruitment numbers are going to be lower than NYB at this point.
  18. Id spend the extra for the 2013. Higher resolution, will accept 32Gb SD cards, and is HD video with sound.
  19. A couple of years ago there were some posts about people taking them somewhere in NY, but I dont remember where.
  20. I have a 5 pin Copper John Dead Nutz sight and love it. Unless you find a used one, they may be a bit out of your price range though. I looked at slide sights, but knowing my luck, the buck of a lifetime would step out and Id forget to adjust the sight. Im used to what pins are what. K.I.S.S.
  21. Good luck with that Virgil, that stuff is next to impossible to get rid of.
  22. HAHAHA so true Lawdwaz. I think the price for the 2013s is the same as the 2012s were.
