  1. ARs work to some extent, there is no doubt about it. That being said, mandatory ARs are not the way to accomplish things, education is. What really drives me nuts is the misconception that ARs are QDM and QDM are ARs, its simply not true. Also, please realize that this group is affiliated with one particular branch of the QDMA, not the national organization. QDMA national does not currently support mandatory ARs in NY, and will not unless 3 specific criteria are met, which will most likely never be the case here.
  2. So yesterday I was poking around on the farm a bit, and discovered a couple of apple trees I hadnt checked before were loaded with apples. Im talking loaded like I have never seen from them. I cant get a stand near them, but maybe Ill put my blind near there. Should be a great spot the first couple of weeks of the season.
  3. That one is the 2012 model of the Black 60. This years model is even higher quality, I have one, but have it on video mode, so I dont have pics to show you from it. If you look through the threads there are some videos I posted from it. You can get them from Wingsupply.com for @ $179. http://www.wingsupply.com/black60/dlc-covert-scouting-cameras-extreme-black-60-scouting-camera/ I do love the quality of both the photos and videos.
  4. We havent had any baited trail cam pics posted in quite a while. Should be any time now.
  5. Nice pics. Could be the same deer, pic from last year is a 1 1/2, the new ones look to be a 2 1/2 (come season). Good luck! I have a hard time historically, passing 2 1/2s, but am gonna try to go 3 1/2 or older this year.
  6. I would just extend the fence and forget about it. On a similar note, I am having an issue with one of my neighbors mowing way over the line onto my yard. Problem is, he mows alot lower than I do and its annoying the heck out of me. I keep to my side of the line. The other day his daughter was standing in my yard shaking her head because my dog was barking at her. WTF do you expect the dog to do lol. They cut through my back yard all the time too. Im going to fix it next year, Im putting a fence down the property line, and my entire yard will get ringed with invisible fence for the dogs. I havent said anything to the people because I dont want to have to deal with a bunch of BS. The neighbors on the other side are awesome.
  7. Stop twisting what I say Doc. This is exactly what you do when you get backed into a corner. What I said was that a crossbow does offer accuracy with less practice than a compound, therefore making it more accurate for those that are newbies (I include people that dont practice in that) and those that are disabled or otherwise cant draw a regular bow. I also said that there are advantages to a compound over a crossbow, and there are. Noise, bulkyness, quicker to get another arrow nocked, etc. I have never contradicted myself, and I dare you to show quotes where I did.
  8. the numbers overall are down. There are people that dont hunt gun season because they perceive it as this dangerous circus of gunfire, but they dont have the time or capability to put into a vertical bow. I know quite a few of them. A crossbow would be a great recruitment tool for those people. Then you get the guys that dont enjoy gun season but can no longer keep it going with a bow. Crossbow becomes a perfect retention tool for them. Like I said, not the silver bullet fix, but a part of the overall.
  9. HAHA, yeah thats why I brought it up again, figured it got lost in the chaos. It was this, since you believe that all of the advancements in the last 30 years have had little effect on the effectiveness of bow hunting, Id like to see you ditch the stands, compound, camo and pick up a recurve and go after them on the ground, wearing old style fatigues or green plaid, etc. I just want to see how well you do, and then come back and tell me how all of the advancements in 30 years havent made us more effective as bow hunters.
  10. Strange, I tried it from another computer when I wasnt logged in to here or photobucket and it worked. They are big files, so they take a minute to buffer.
  11. Heres some pics from the second farm I hunt. These were taken 20 yards into the woods from the edge of a new food plot going in. Its a long oak ridge that gets a ton of traffic. This is the farm I took my buck on last year. I need to tip this cam down a bit next time I check it.
  12. I dont think its an eye. This cam either picks up the lightning bugs or they are something wierd with the video. Those are all videos BTW, not pics. Oh, and theres a 40 acre pile of corn right in front of the camera lol.
  13. I pulled my cam card again today, got a nice 2 1/2 on there. He will be a nice deer in a year or two if he makes it on this farm. These are videos, just click on them. Heres a cool video of a fawn jumping around. This one I think is a Raccoon climbing over my cam
  14. In response to the bold statement, where do you get this insinuation from? Where are the compounds going to go? That kind of thing sounds like a sky is falling type reaction, dont you think? Same argument when compounds were allowed, and the sky never fell.
  15. One of the Tshirt girls keeps coming up for me. I dont want to block her out...
  16. Looks like another nice bow from Hoyt! I have a 2010 Maxxis, and L O V E it. Best bow Ive ever had. Make sure to post up some pics of the bow when you get it!
  17. Hey belo, before I forget about it, are ya up for my challenge? Seeing as all of the equipment developed in the last 30 years is of no real advantage according to you, you should have no problem bagging a deer or two or maybe even more!
  18. Let me rephrase that for you.... "Being able to hunt w a compound bow during the bow season is about as ridiclous an idea I've heard. How can u tell a real bow hunter who honors the sport of hunting to simply hunt with a recurve while others have it easier with compound at the same time. If there is to be a compound season it can only be separate from bow. Period." See how your statement comes off? Seriously though, no one would be forcing you to do anything differently during archery season if you dont want to. If you want to take advantage of what a crossbow offers, go for it. Want the added challenge of a compound, by all means. Want a real challenge, grab a recurve or longbow! They are all BOWS.
  19. Its easy guys, right on this page http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/28182.html DEC defines a motor vehicle as: "Motor vehicle - means every vehicle or device operated by any power other than muscle power including but not limited to automobiles, trucks, motorcycles, tractors, trailers, motorboats, snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles whether operated on or off public highways." Next they say: "It is illegal to take or hunt wildlife: while in or on a motor vehicle (except by the holder of a Non Ambulatory Hunter Permit)."So its pretty straight forward to say that shooting a deer out of a muscle powered boat is legal. Just dont shoot a deer while its in the water, thats illegal.
  20. Thats funny, because Sweeny (backed by the NYB) proposed a bill to allow crossbows only in the gun seasons and do away with the current Columbus Day weekend youth gun season just this past year. The Governor vetoed that one. LMAO, talk about a group that talks out of both sides of their mouth.
