  1. Cool pics Biz good for you!
  2. Seed. I start inside early March. Heavy producing pepper. They enjoy the heat, I usually don't get any till August. So good, I highly recommend trying a couple plants. I use Baron poblanos from Johnny Seeds.
  3. Poblanos are ready! Okra is finally booming! I'm going to start freezing the okra for fall gumbo. Celery is for potato salad tonight.
  4. I was thinking about you while doing garden chores. I had 2 cherry tomatoes ripe for a couple days. I didn't pick them and the same culprit snacking on zucchini flowers got to them. From now on I pick two at a time once they ripen.
  5. I would love for this to be the issue but these wounds are from an animal with sharp teeth. Trail cam I forgot to put out at my cabin will now go into the garden for a week or so.
  6. That's awesome Belo. I have two plum trees that in ten years I hope to get a harvest like that. Where you at Biz?! We might need a zucchini showdown soon. Kinda weird something is doing some natural pruning of my zucchini plants. Ate a bunch of flowers but it allowed very quick growth of existing zucchini and great airflow for the plant. I've already watered twice as much as last year and it looks like a rough week with all this heat and no rain. Awesome well nose to the grindstone.
  7. Crappy, I use to get these. My mom was (just retired) a 5th grade teacher, the letters her students would send absolutely made a difference at low points. Anyone who can send a letter to Teddi should.
  8. Will do. Something to keep in mind basic is exactly that, break down and build up. She will be fine, this is all part of the process. Man I waited and hoped for letters and phone calls in basic and thats one million percent not what type of person I am lol. But when you need support, you need it. One day at a time! The struggle will only make her a better person. Hopefully she can read my handwriting!
  9. Roma tomatoes are loaded! Very slow to grow though. From left to right Hungarian wax peppers, okra, zukes and krimson peppers (I made paprika last year with them). Plants are loaded, just wanted to relieve some stress from the plants before our big storm tomorrow. Gardens all around NY are going to boom with all this rain tomorrow.
  10. Yes that's what I think happens but I bet we watched many of the same videos. Just my personal experiences and I believe advice from whitetail solutions but I might have my YouTube videos mixed up. He talks about bigger bucks not wanting to do with scent checking and doe/fawn traffic till much close to breeding season. For your sake I hope wrong and you get some booners on cam then harvest one.
  11. I kinda disagree with doing a mock scrape this early but don't think it will hurt. Lots of doe, fawn and small bucks might hit it this early but for hunting purposes I would wait till September when patterns change. I say this from mock scrape experiences. To many doe and fawn and larger bucks will avoid the traffic. Really fun for trail cams and deer inventory though. Good luck and hope you get great results!
  12. Also Lou Colliers son also , Andrew Jones son. All three will go top 10 and sign on the mlb dotted line. Draft sure has changed. A junior college 17 year old going top 10 just sounds weird. For you guys with kids going to college soon, if they don't find their spot or receive an offer they like, there are more and more kids finding success at the JC level then transferring or being drafted more then ever. You don't need to play at an elite college to attract eyes these days is my long winded point.
  13. Peppers for today. Jalapeño branches needed to release some weight so I picked a few. Maybe some cowboy candy in my near future. Poblano peppers are getting close. Making garlic confit for the first time with cloves that were separating or I broke the stalk off. I have one more bowl to peel, talk about tedious work. Wonder if that's what the work from home thread is about?
  14. When you make a left onto Fairchild rd from route 365, there are normally lots of apples on the right side. I was just up there on Monday and didn't notice any. That said if I recall I think August is when those come out.
  15. Wow my cabin is in Remsen must be close to you. No apples on my two trees and my neighbor has nine with no apples. Trees are only five years old though.
  16. I'm not on Biz level but I harvested my first zucchini of the year. Carrots fell over needing water, brussel sprouts are waist high but same as last year bugs ate a couple up in two days. Hopefully watering carrots saves them and throwing DE saves sprouts. For the good news, I have endless peppers that are loving the heat same with okra. I have jalapeños and Hungarian wax peppers turning red which is cool. Not having to worry about the deer I feel comfortable letting the peppers fully ripen. Cukes are slowwwwwwww this year what the hell! Ran soaker hoses for three hours today as of course the weather wuss was wrong again and we received zero rain. Melons that I started from seed last week are taking off quick.
  17. Mini bell, banana and jalapeños from the garden stuffed with crab, cream cheese and garlic from the garden. Mini bell peppers stole the show, I'm glad I figured out something to do with them.
  18. Broadway in Newburgh is a tough spot. Outskirts of Newburgh and the waterfront are very nice. Can slip your boat in the Hudson from the waterfront.
  19. You can still use it, just mix it in at a low level. Finally hooked up the hoses and the plants needed it. Looks like a couple more dry days ahead. Celery definitely needed some extra water.
  20. Wife took me out for dinner at one of our favorite spots. Halibut not in the picture was overcooked but everything else was great. Wifes appetizer was the octopus. Oysters, caviar and tuna are always my go to. Wife is pregnant so she can't eat shellfish. Lol she is so mad between these oysters and when we were in Maine a couple weeks ago.
  21. My soil does a great job at retaining moisture. I haven't watered all year and just took a walk all looks well. Very surprised I expected to break out the hoses this week. Same as Biz said I would do a deep watering twice a week instead of watering everyday but my plants are straight in the ground so it's a bit different.
  22. Mine were very brown, if anything I waited a few days to long for one variety. I still have 25 cloves (one row) to pull. Last year I pulled them on July 4th as well. My fault for not doing better with weeds this year bulbs would have been bigger. I'm in Orange County so weather might be different.
  23. Another day another dollar. German hardy garlic is the winner so far as far as bulb size. Jalapeños are huge I want to trim so of the larger ones so branches don't break if this storm hits in a couple hours. Finally have some green tomatoes but they are going to take some time. I got a little light headed so I'm taking a break them back out to harvest the elephant garlic. Tomorrow I'll till up the garlic area and plant melons or sunflowers.
