  1. I am looking to purchase a property within an hour or so of Rochester, preferably the area of Birdsall or Naples area, but am open to other areas for the right property. I am looking for 20 plus acres QDM area- Pond- Sheds/Barn - Apple trees - last house on dirt road- bordering state land ( All extra bonuses ) No busy or seasonal roads please, I would like to be able to access property easily all year round. Please feel free to email me info at [email protected] or post your property info on here. Thanks
  2. Sounds like a good problem to have ! Congrats on the nice show room
  3. Opening day 6 point- State land, Allegany County, Birdsall Got in the stand at 5:30 a.m. , stayed in the stand all day. Seen 1 doe walking at 9 a.m. and then this buck at 4:40 p.m. I hunt in a creek bottom, I seen him trotting in the thick under growth. I had just enough time to see he had a rack in the scope, and pull the trigger before he was out of site. 80 yard shot After the shot- he ran about 10 yards, just about of of site and I seen him drop. I didn't have much time to hunt this season with a 18 month old and 4 week old home, so I feel very lucky to have tagged out opening day. Good luck to the rest of you this season.
  4. Ill be in a creek bottom, 50 yards away from pines to my back. I will be facing a hill side that in history seems to have deer pushed down to me from other hunters- I love the suspense, never know what will be coming my way.
  5. Agreed ! Hope he breed some surviving does this year, best of luck finding his older brother this year.
  6. 40 Degrees or higher is the rule of thumb of when meat will start to spoil. Suppose to hit over 50 tomorrow in Rochester, not sure where your located. So its either cut up today or tomorrow, but me personally I would butcher today.
  7. 3 1/2 , Sure would be an impressive wall hanger with longer tines the next year or two. What great genetics !
  8. WOW - Congrats guys. My brother and I tagged out 8 years ago the same morning, when he got to his stand I text him and said I got one. He couldn't believe I got one so quick, about 5 minutes later I got a text from him saying he got one to. A day we will never forget, as I'm sure you guys won't either.
  9. Public land - Keeney Swamp Birdsall , Remington .243. Hoping to tag out when everyone heads in for lunch, everyone heading to there trucks seems to get the deer moving my way.
  10. Was just joking about the repelling Four Seasons, due to the prior comments about it and you guys saying how steep it is. I live in Rochester, so I have been on the trails before- mostly walking the creeks with my daughters. So I will research the hunting areas and go from there. Pretty funny I have driven by the Mount Morris exit hundreds of times going to the Dansville exit- now every time I drive by I wonder whats on that river bottom of Letchworth. The last mountable buck I have seen on the stateland I hunt was probably 7-8 years ago, I think investigating the park would greatly increase my odds next year. Thank you all for enlightening myself and fellow hunters with this intel.
  11. Great buck ncountry - I would love to see those photos you speak of Four Season. I would classify myself as fun Riff Raff atleast ! I haven't seen a buck all season so far in the town Birdsall I hunt in, I plan on taking a trip down to Letchworth this winter. Follow some tracks, and definitely scout some next summer to. Its been a while since I have repelled, but I think I can manage there. Currently my stands 30 minutes off the road now.
  12. Great buck Chrisw- Congrats. Very cool you have photos throughout the season of him.
  13. Sounds like you would be a good videographer for a fellow hunter, get you off the couch and in the woods !
  14. Sounds like your user name is very fitting for where you hunt, what a deer. Congrats ! Will look wild on the wall for sure.
  15. Congrats Mike on your first buck, looks like you have the perfect rack for a gun holder and old school bunny ears when you loose cable !
  16. True gentleman, I'm sure he will never forget this day or you ! It's disappointing to see deer not recovered, when land owners do not allow a fellow hunter recover there harvest.
  17. Congrats JRussell- we learn from every harvest, that seems to be half the fun ! Good shot
