  1. That's a big gun to be lugging around. I prefer a S&W J-frame in titanium.
  2. He's a handsome fellow! I'll have a glass of that wine, when you get a moment.
  3. If they're worth anything, I have similar volumes going back to the early '60's. I don't think they're worth much on the market. No interest in selling them anyway.
  4. Hi JRod. I can't find anything on that meaning for Enzo. Can you help me out on that? He definitely thinks he's the ruler of this home!
  5. Well, folks, meet Enzo. It's the boy's decision and he's put his foot down about it. Thanks all of you, this was fun, and I appreciate all the suggestions. Moho81, great name, he loves it. We have also ordered the Racing in the Rain book. Now all we gotta do is figure out how to calm this little tornado down. He gained 3 lbs in 1 week and pees more than I do after a sixpack. He doesn't walk, he bounces. And talks a lot...
  6. Hated 10 when it came out, seemed ridiculously complicated - mainly because it tried to be ridiculously simple. But ... 7 was horrendous, esp toward the end, with so many service packs and patches. Slow as hell. 10 is really not bad once you get used to it. Personally I won't buy an Apple product. Don't get me started.... :\
  7. Well, remember, Woodstock was never that great to begin with.
  8. Well, as of this morning, the boy was leaning toward Enzo. The rest of the family is not so enthusiastic about that. I personally prefer a single syllable name. But I do like a lot of the suggestions here, like Diesel, that's a good one. BTW, the boy wishes to note, Koennigsegg is Swedish, not German. Stay tuned, we trying to resolve this today.
  9. I hate malls with a passion. I think they should take the food courts, rope them off, close all the food places, provide free booze, and say it's an ongoing free for all - go ahead, fight all you want, just make sure someone knows where to throw your body.
  10. CCI Quiets thru a heavy long barrel of an Anschutz bench rifle don't make much noise, either.
  11. Thanks, that's interesting, I never knew that. So ok... in my town, discharging a firearm is a violation of local ordinances (even a pellet gun). So I wonder how you are supposed to "take" a raccoon (or as my son called them when he was little, a ratcoon)? I suppose I could shoot it with a bow. But broadheads are expensive...
  12. Really? Can you point me to that law? Serious question. My local LE specifically told me to relocate them.
  13. I hate raccoons. Our property in lower Westchester had about 6 families of them living on it when we bought the place. We counted 32 one night about dusk, all on the hill behind my house. As of now, there is still one family hanging on - for the time being. And yeah, I can certainly attest to the fact that the bastards are mean as hell. I trapped about a dozen of them, and relocated them far away. Even putting them in the back of a truck was a challenge, and they are filthy, smelly, nasty animals. After that, I took to using different methods. I'll take the Fifth on that...
  14. Thanks, all, for the continuing help. I shared this thread with my son, and he has some new ideas to kick around. As of this morning, he said he was leaning toward Enzo. "Enzo Ferrari is one of the greatest names in auto history." We'll see. I like some of the others suggested here (Goliath is a great suggestion). But this is a family effort, led by the boy, so it's not ultimately my decision. Thanks again and keep 'em coming. jm
  15. Hang in there, mowin. Their lives are lived in the span of a fraction or ours, but they teach us so much. Get another one! Spud would want that, you know. We don't have many pics yet (it's hard to get the pup to be still long enough), but one more and I have to sign out. This is pup and boy on the drive home from PA. They bonded nicely.
  16. OK, well, it's my bedtime... but I just have to respond to this one. Thank you, it's a cool name, and we did kick it around. Briefly. Very briefly. You see, the thing is, I went to Carolina. :/
  17. I had suggested Merle, Cash and Hank. Waylon is a good one. But the kid isn't much of a country music fan
  18. Ran out of likes! These are great suggestions, a lot of which we hadn't thought of. Thank you guys, keep 'em coming. moog and Piseco, those are beautiful pups! We've given the boy til Friday to settle on a name, will report back. We have kicked around the idea of a German name, but haven't come up with one we really liked. Bo, Bear, Blue and Chief have been high on the list. Others from here will likely join them. As for hobbies, the boy (he's 14) mainly likes to hunt, shoots competition rimfire (two state gold medals), and is into his skateboard, PS4 games, and "supercars" (about which he seems to have encyclopedic knowledge - and I, coming from a NC racing family, have zero). Anyway, let's keep this going, and I'll share with the boy. jm
  19. Hi Folks, My son for the last year has been begging me for a long-hair German Shepard. I gave in. Put a deposit down in October and picked up the pup last Thursday. His Christmas present (and a damn pricey one, too). He can't come up with a name. We've suggested lots of options. I'm turning to you guys, hoping maybe you have some ideas. Background - We had a Golden named Max, so that's out. We currently have a Golden named Wiley (pictured). The little GSD is a fireball, full of energy, bounces around the house non-stop (until he lays down and goes right to sleep). Has an adorable little "yelp" and "growl". He's gonna be huge - 15 lbs at 7 1/2 weeks. His daddy is a monster, seemingly twice the size of our Golden. Vet was quite impressed with the little guy. So... any ideas?
  20. I've seen plenty of walnut with that coloration, so I think it could be a walnut. But the grain does look fairly open, more like oak. Just don't recall ever seeing oak with that much dark coloring in it.
  21. If there's one thing I can't stand, it's a god damn raccoon. I hate the damn things. When we bought our house in Westchester, there were tons of them on the property. One night we counted 32 sitting up on the rocks on the hill behind the house (like 100 feet away from my back door). About six families. Smelly, disgusting, flea-ridden rodents, who poop everywhere and raid your garbage. Took me several years to eradicate the little bastards. And of course, since it's Westchester, that did not involve the use of (normal) firearms. But I will not be deterred! Neighbors even called DEC on me once, claiming I was cruelly killing the varmints. (The DEC guy rolled his eyes and told them I was doing nothing illegal.) Eat them? I think I'd rather starve. And I'm no prude, I'll eat squirrel any day.
  22. I got socks. But... my son got this. Never seen him so happy.
  23. If you open the quickstart manual, it says this: • Camera Recording Resolution will be set to 1920 x 1080, FPS will be 15, and Bitrate will be 4096
  24. That Night Owl system has some pretty bad reviews. Anyone have any experience with the system that Harbor Freight sells? https://www.harborfreight.com/8-channel-surveillance-dvr-with-4-hd-cameras-and-mobile-monitoring-capabilities-63890.html
