  1. Getting rid of all "hunting" stuff in 125 stores. Will probably kill Field & Stream altogether. An enemy of the American people, please don't spend a dime there. Please. https://www.getzone.com/news-dicks-to-remove-hunting-rifles-gear-from-125-stores/?trk_msg=7P8BNBHTDK0KR6HOEGKEQ2RQJG&trk_contact=0OTUNDA8KTJCK66VPPL7GVGO4S&trk_sid=2RCSKCB76V2D9SCQIQPTN0JSEG
  2. What's the point in selling guns? What're you gonna do with the money? Waste it away on something else, probably, something that won't have the longevity and usefulness. I think I have about 30 long guns. Some are family heirlooms. Some are collector pieces. Some I just like. Some I use. I just don't see selling any of them. In fact, I'll probably buy 3 or 4 more this year. Just have to get another safe....
  3. Jeez, I thought this was gonna be about getting a date to go hunting with you. Oh well...
  4. Ha. Kinda an homage to Robert Earl Keen. Awesome! He once gave a concert in my honor. True story. Long story. REK rocks! Edit: I realize this doesn't have anything to do with anything. Still, could someone pick up a box of tampons and some Salem Lights for me?
  5. Yeah, I think you're right. Maybe it's x51. Which would make more sense I guess since it says NATO. Be fun to shoot some of it and see how it does.
  6. Milsurp stuff. Can be questionable. My Mosin is sorta picky, seems to like the new stuff better than the old milsurp. FWIW, and I don't mean to be contrary, but you can buy new, more reliable ammo for less than that - example: https://www.swfa.com/tulammo-ammunition-7-62x54r-fmj-148-gr-20-rd-box.html Sorry, if that breaks the rules, please delete my comment.
  7. I bought one of the Egard watches this morning, after reading about this and seeing the video on Ideal Media. From the comments to the video, seems like I have a lot of company.
  8. I would just shoot the dogs. Seriously.
  9. Never mind - I found the reg. 100-200 lbs. Makes no sense at all.
  10. Yeah it was on Fox today. Anyone seen any of these creatures?
  11. Killer Instinct Furious Z355 (well, it was hanging there, so...) Elite Aigil with Trophy Ridge 5 point and dropaway rest Hoyt PowerMax with Fuse 5 point and dropaway Just getting back to archery after a long hiatus. Want to get a recurve next. Some of the bows picture here are gorgeous.
  12. And I thought I took long naps...
  13. If King Cuomo has his way, that will be for applications for a pistol permit. No laughing matter.
  14. I don't even know what a P&Y buck is, I just wanted to say I appreciate your post. My son (14) recently got his first buck, and although it was a modest 6 pointer, we were treated with kindness and respect at the taxidermist. Means a lot to me.
  15. Reminds me of a bar in the rough part of my old hometown. One of my dad's buddy's use to say, "I seen a lot of folks go in there, never seen anyone come out." Welcome to the Hotel California.
  16. I really enjoyed "Death on the Barrens" by George Grinnell. It's a true account of a 1950's expedition into the Canadian arctic, and the tragic outcome. https://smile.amazon.com/Death-Barrens-Courage-Tragedy-Canadian/dp/B00BZYI3QS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1546987431&sr=8-1&keywords=death+in+the+barrens Interestingly, another member of the same expedition later wrote a book to "rebut" Grinnell's account. I can't find the link right now. But the story and controversy surrounding this somewhat famous (infamous) trek into the northland is captivating. Just a thought. I was a history major years ago, and love good, true, spellbinding historical works.
  17. Taste good!? Bleh! No way you could convince me to eat one of the filthy things. I've mentioned it before - when we bought our current house in Westchester, there were about six families of them living on the hill behind us. We counted 32 of them one night about dusk, sitting up there, looking like they owned the damn place. The smell on that hillside was disgusting. Rat-coon (as my then-4-year old called them) crap everywhere. It was beyond putrid. I'll take the 5th on much of the subsequent history, but presently there is one small family left. I have some "emigration" plans for them, hope Satan has a proper place reserved for them. Eat them? I wouldn't feed them to rabid dog. And I have no problem at all eating squirrel, or various other small game. Just not rat-coons.
  18. Disgusting, smelly, garbage-eating, flea-infested, disease-ridden rodents. I don't much care for them.
  19. I thought this was gonna be a John Updike story...
  20. Would work well with grits, too. And lots of butter. (For any of you damn yankees who don't know what grits are, it's white stuff made from corn.)
  21. Dang, I'm gonna have to try that. Looks yummy. Must be more cholesterol there than an entire Micky-D's supersize meal.
