  1. As a U.S. citizen Dan should receive 133% on the gobble.
  2. Wish you lived closer Wooly. I'd put a sharp on those chains for you. I'm afraid your fancy Stihl chains wouldn't fit any of my lowly Huskys though. (I need to sharpen them on the bar). If they would fit on my saw bars I would sharpen them and mail them back to you as my contribution to true art!
  3. Shoot straight Dan. I'm jealous. I won't make it to Canada this year. It's kind of my happy place. Have a great trip!
  4. I put my feeders out on the 7th. Had one hummingbird by the end of the day. Had a second one the following day. Now I have a pair of orioles drinking from my feeder. Never had that happen before, but the interwebs say that isn't uncommon.
  5. Good info. I have heard of these style sharpeners. I sharpen freehand, but put the saw in a vice. Sounds like it would take some of the work out of sharpening. As a side note, maybe you guys should mail me all your dull, unwanted chains so I can properly recycle them!
  6. The DR trimmers last really well. In my experience, they start and run (unlike most weedwhackers). I have a DR field & brush mower that I have abused over the past 9 years. After 7 years I finally had to put some parts in it. It's an amazing machine. I also have a DR stump grinder. It's a tough little bugger. I like their stuff pretty well.
  7. Every few years I forget to chamber a round before I head out after turkeys. It almost never ends well. This morning was no exception. Real nice morning. Text book hunt. Gobbled on the roost. Called a bit. Got aggressive on the slate. Once I was sure he was coming I put the calls away. He came 150-200 yards, across a set of posters and over a stonewall. Click. SIGH.
  8. Good luck Dan. Shoot "em where the corn goes in!
  9. That looks intriguing. What do you think of it?
  10. Has anyone pickled and eaten any ramps this year? I'm going to a spot that is LOADED with them tomorrow. I may pick enough to pickle a quart.
  11. Headed out in the morning to hunt a new/old property here in town. It's several hundred acres I used to hunt almost 10 years ago. It got sold and sold and sold again, so now I have permission again. A few small, hidden back fields and the rest is a series of hardwood ridges. I have killed a half dozen birds there over the years, so I'm hoping to at least hear a bird and work a bird.
  12. They played plenty of Fortnite last year when they won it all, for what it's worth. Maybe the Spankees should've tried it.
  13. That didn't come from management, it was agreed upon by the players. Like the hot take though!
  14. I roasted my 1st tom. 21lbs. I covered it in bacon and it still dried out. I ate it, but it was pretty awful. I breast them out, and on bigger birds keep the legs & thighs to cook down for soup or turkey pot pie. Congrats on the bird.
  15. Live from my tailgate. Just getting around to posting pics. Tough morning in central VT. The cold weather had the birds flocked up. Shadowed a flock of 17 birds until almost 10am. The hens made a dash to cross the dirt road and left 3 satellite toms behind. I managed to pull in the biggest with some soft clucking, yelping and leaf scratching. 20.9lbs. 9" beards. One spur was pretty much 1.5". I was happy to get in done in difficult conditions.
  16. Let the dogs out at 5:55. Birds gobbling across the road. 1 bird gobbling on this side, but in the sanctuary behind the neighbor's house. 4 deer in the hay field in front of my house. Nice morning. Updated weather for tomorrow looks ok for central Vermont. Will head over late afternoon/evening and do some looking. Bring my brother a pickup load of wood for his shop.
  17. Nice work with the poplar limbs Rob! I can't make you out in the picture at all!
  18. Pretty sure they are made in China. Just saying I have 3 Bushnell Elites that have never let me down.
  19. They bought the camp there so they could run back and forth to NH. You can't hunt in Maine on Sundays, so they drive to the Pittsburg area. I'm not close with that part of the family, and the camp is usually full during deer season, but it seems wise to hunt where I know somebody. Anyhow, hope you guys enjoy your time up there. Maine feels alot like Canada to me. Plenty of room. It's awfully crowded here in VT. If I was younger I would relocate someplace more remote.
  20. I'm near Burlington, so not real far north. I'm not totally sure where I will hunt. My annual Canadian fishing trip got cancelled, so I am thinking of using that money for a hunting vacation. I have family with a camp near Rangely, so possibly in that area. I am no kind of big woods hunter, but I want to give it a try.
  21. Bushnell does make other models besides the Banner.
  22. Happy Birthday! I hope you get to spend as much time as possible in Maine this year. I'm hoping to get up there to try my hand at tracking deer this fall.
  23. For the $ i would have stuck with Bushnell. JMO. We all have our favorites.
