Why cell service so bad in Adirondacks?
stubborn1VT replied to Hunter007's topic in General Chit Chat
I'm guessing that lack of cell service is a big draw for many folks that travel there. I go back to the same fishing lodge in Canada because it's off the grid. -

Yep. Harder to be a terrorist in the Daks. -
Erod can go play with Machado on the team that doesn't hustle. I don't want him on my team.

Why cell service so bad in Adirondacks?

The point of a mass of undeveloped land the size of the Adirondacks is different to everyone. It does make sense to me to have a place without cell coverage. I'm sure it isn't cost effective to blanket 6 million sparsely populated acres. Like the Stones sang "You can't always get what you want..." -
I wear camo for turkey and bow season. I don't worry as much for rifle. Out West I wouldn't think it would matter as much because of the distances. It probably doesn't matter as much as we think it does, but it doesn't hurt. I was watching videos on Hunting Beast's channel on Youtube where he was bow hunting in a red plaid shirt. The best turkey hunter I know has shot spring birds in blue jeans and a grey hooded sweatshirt. Success probably has more to do with sitting still, moving slow and seeing them first. I will continue to wear camo, but it's interesting to think about.

Ugh. Good game, but a loss. Could make for a big momentum shift. Bunch of uncharacteristic stuff, like the E from Kinsler and the 1-4 hitters going 0 for 28! Credit to the Dodgers. Evoldi is a beast. Hope they start Erod, not Pomeranz. One upside the impending monsoon: I can take a nap and get ready for the game tonight.

Makes sense. Giant moon last night. The deer stayed out late and then got up late. Makes morning hunts lousy and midday hunts a bit better.- 10374 replies

I hope that pitching Evoldi again doesn't backfire. At this point I'm pretty confident in whatever move Cora decides to make. It makes sense to use him to help nail down the game and go to LA up 2-0. It should put a ton of pressure on the Dodgers, and they won't be able to use the cold temps as an excuse in game 3.

I don't believe there is a set time that deer like them best. Sometimes they chew on mine in November. Sometimes they wait until March. It sounds like your turnips got really WET. I don't imagine the deer will like them. Maybe if they were hungry enough.

Not sure. It was a gift from his dad. Not something he bought for himself.

I will never love David Price. I do want him to perform well. He's only human, but he has been a whiny, sensitive diva at times. Maybe the Boston experience has toughened him up. It takes mental toughness to pitch in the playoffs.

I have had luck going in before daylight with the wind in my favor. Even if you bump them, they usually don't go far. Of course, if it happens over and over they will move on. Another option is to wait until legal shooting light and still hunt your way in to your stand. I have done both on a 6 acre piece. I have been successful hunting mornings there.

Maybe now that he's over his post season win-less streak he can just pitch. Sure seems like it tonight!

I have had much better luck with hand-me-down or Army surplus wool than I have with any new wonder material. If the criteria are warm and quiet, then wool fits the bill. It is tough/durable too. The other "must have" for me when sitting is a goose down vest or coat. It's packable, light and works great as an insulating layer.

Not only did they change the rules to "protect" infielders and catchers, but they don't enforce them. I know that taking out the 2nd baseman/shortstop and home plate collisions are dangerous, but they were always part of the game. I love baseball, but watching pitchers step off and batter step out isn't entertaining.

I haven't. I don't have any on hand, or I would give it shot.

Pan fried Canadian walleye, homemade baked fries and coleslaw.

Will take Thursday and Friday this week. I will work a day or two next week. Then November 10th-26th for rifle season. Then I will decided what days to take for our muzzleloader season, depending on the state of my freezer.

That sounds like the life Pygmy. Always wanted to catch me one of them leopard rainbows.

The move seemed to backfire on Hinch. They were pitching around him before. Once he got in the leadoff spot, they went after him, even though he had men on base. He almost sunk the Sox a couple times. Scary part is that he's only going to get better. So glad they won last night. Now Sale can rest up and get ready for Game 1!

Couple Questions For Those Who Hunt From Hub Blinds
stubborn1VT replied to grampy's topic in Deer Hunting
I haven't had much luck bow hunting from a hub blind Grampy. I always just wear camo in them, but black makes more sense. If you figure out a way to combat the "black hole" effect, let me know. That's my #1 pet peeve. I bought a new Ameristep Brickhouse, and I'm hoping to set it up tomorrow. My plan is to crowd it against a brushpile or into a pine/softwood. They are great for staying dry. I've been impressed with how waterproof they are. I've only had success rifle hunting out of them though. Hoping to change that. Good luck! -
Bregman is one heck of a player. I hope he learned his lesson about trolling the Red Sox though. Evoldi was a huge factor and Bregman was carefully contained by Sox pitching. Even better was Cora's all business response. I hate the Dodgers, especially that dirty, non- hustling Machado. Kinda hope they win the NL just so the Sox can beat them.

Now I won't have to listen to the TBS announcers go on about how great the Astros are! Bring on the NL!

Do you at least cook the deer heart, or just slice it up and put it between a couple slices of bread? Savage.
