Bang... Flop. Great Nephew got his first. He's friggin pumped. He started tearing up. Deer was already in the field. Made it to a round bale for him to rest on. 120 yd quartering away shot. He hit a little high, but the shot was downhill. Clipped the spine and exited tight to the opposite shoulder. That's his dad ( my nephew) in the pic. It's as close to the deer as he can get as he's highly allergic to the fur.

What's your favorite sound to hear in the deer woods?

Used to hunt a small 15a parcel that bordered a large alfalfa field. The deer had to cross a county Rd to get to the field. Car horns definitely meant deer were on their way. -

The sound of barred owls is something I enjoy. -

Really, so a bang on neighbors probably just after you seen a slammer heading that direction is your favorite sound.. lol. Just busting. I know what you meant. -

Good lord that's hard to choose.. A snort wheeze is something that I've only seen mature deer make, so I think I'd have to go with that. Not saying younger bucks don't snort wheeze, just need seen one snort wheeze. -
No hunting for Levi today. But we're going to give it our best try tomorrow morning and if needed, the afternoon hunt. Too of my buddies youths succeeded in taking nice 8pts. Waiting for Pic.

I hear ya. Not far behind. I'm ok now, but in a week or so leaf cleanups start, and the backpack blower wears my right shoulder out from swinging the exhaust tube back and forth. Only pulling 45lbs now.

Couldn't just be happy for the kid..

Good luck doebuck. I agree with waiting until a couple hrs before dark. Hopefully he bedded down on the other side of the field and that's where he will be laying.
-
That's tuff for a new hunter. Hopefully he doesn't get discouraged and gets back out there. Hopefully the excitement outweighs the disappointment.

Wind is the most important. Doesn't matter what the BP is, if you get winded it's over I like to hunt before a storm system rolls in. Deer move more, but one can't always wait for that perfect BP.

We threw in the towel for today. The wind was killing us. Constantly swirling. Levi has a football game this afternoon, and can't hunt tomorrow morning, so tomorrow afternoon we'll give it another go.

Several of my spots are off fields by 15-100yrds or so which makes it easier. Several are a PITA to get to. Electric fences do present a challenge tho. Grabbing the wrong spot definitely wakes you up, lol.

We're in for the youth hunt. Had 4 in the field. Set up to wait for legal, and wind swirled. One was a decent buck. Re adjusting for the wind.

I hunt in some nasty stuff. Never needed a light. Not worried about getting shot. I don't hunt public and most of the adjacent properties to the land I hunt and off limits to hunting and unless one trespass across multiple properties, crosses a large creek or the mass Pike, I know I'm the only one there.

Rarely use a light in the dark.
-
Good luck to all the youths and their mentors tomorrow.

Just checked in phone app settings, and the command app has permissions. The only way to send a picture or save it is to do a screenshot.
-
I can't recall any in the dark, because I rarely if ever use a light. But in the past 40+ yrs of hunting, I've probably have had a half dozen or so close encounters while walking to or from stand in the daylight, and probably shot a dozen or more with the rifle while walking in, but those were no where's near bow range.
-
That's the first thing I tried. My cam is working and sending pics to me, I just can't do anything with the pics in the app like send them to friends or upload into my picture gallery.
-
When I hit the button to upload, I get failed to upload. If I try to text the picture, the text goes through, but no picture attached...
-
What you say makes sense.. it does. But I've been told by encon, walk out of the woods loaded up after legal with deer calls, deer pee making it more than obviously your hunting deer, and you bought yourself a ticket. Now, weather they were blowing smoke up my ass, I'm not sure. One I seen in a local bar several years ago and we got talking about a poaching case in our area. Figured since he was talking shop, I'd ask.

No issues with my tactacams. Hit the button in the cams app, and I can text the pic. Not sure what settings in my phone I would need to adjust.
-
I'm just telling you what I've been told from more than one encon officer.

Bill, something is wrong... Can't quite put my finger on it, but..... Oh ya, the picture isn't sideways. Did you figure it out, or are we gonna have to go back to the chiropractor. Lol.
