  1. So my nephew and I are 10 minutes away from our spots, and I get a notification from the cam at his stand. Nice 8pt 15yrds in front of his stand. He seen 3 bucks and 4 doe, but unfortunately nothing close enough for a shot. I seen a squirrel......
  2. Wow, what a deer. Congrats to the hunter.
  3. I'm going to call the town clerk where I got my license tomorrow and see what they say.
  4. So I get a DMP tag in the mail and a letter saying that even though I wasn't selected for my first DMP pick, were sending you one because fewer applications were received. Ok great... But, where's the tag? Neighbor called and he got the same letter, but no tag. There's only 300 issued for 4U, and I believe half are military and landowners.
  5. X2 on the hand muffs. Essential equipment IMO.
  6. Definitely thinking about getting a headed vest.... Pants.... gloves....hat.....boots....lol I'll need a Prius battery pack to run it all though.
  7. Should have hunted at the end of my driveway. Couple of bucks must have been scuffling. About 30' is tore up with tracks and scuff marks. Not the best pic, but the entire end of my driveway looked like this.
  8. Grampy, I'm shooting 42#. I wish I could hold my bow at full draw for 30 seconds, but realistically, I can get about 10 before I start shaking. I've had many missed opportunities over the yrs because of my limitations. Ya, I get bummed, but I'm not stopping. I look it it as more of a challenge. Still manage to get a deer stupid enough to stop in the right place every yr.
  9. I thought I was done mowing for the yr. This warm weather has the lawns sprouting. Several customers have called and want em done again. Haven't been able to hunt much. Hopefully I'll be done this week.
  10. Just something you can bribe them with later in life. Pull out those pics and show them the sacrifices you made.
  11. My self imposed restrictions have been lowered at this point. He'd be in trouble if he was under my stand.
  12. I remember a video a few yrs back where they had a air hose hooked to a deer that was cut away. Still had the rib cage intact, but you could see the lungs. It was interesting seeing the lungs at both deflated, and inflated stages. Don't remember if it was some reg guys doing it or medical trained guys.
  13. You have to realize, those lungs are deflated. A live deers lungs would be tight to the spine.
  14. So did I. Our cam expert @phade confirmed they don't. He said only the Spartan ghost has GPS. I know my tactacam's and stealth cam doesn't.
  15. Most cell cams don't have GPS capability. I thought they did also. The Spartan ghost does, and I see it's a spartan, but doesn't say what model. Cam has to be on tho.
  16. Lol.. It's better to ask forgiveness then permission.
  17. Good friend of mine has one. He's not into speed or trail riding. Uses it on his 200 acre properly. Doesn't really use it for food plots as he has a tractor. He loves the thing.
  18. Talked to a guy I know this morning at a local diner. He told me about a huge buck he seen the other day chasing a doe across the road into a swamp. Turns out it's the same swamp I've hunted for yrs. Couple cams in there, but haven't gotten a pics of a slammer. Could be traveling through looking for love. Might hunt there this afternoon, but it's a long walk in and it's 72° now.
  19. If you're looking for a maintenance machine like your opening post mentioned, 25mph is fast when doing maintenance. Sounds like you're looking for a middle of the road unit. Tuff enough to get work done and fast enough to get in trouble, lol.
  20. I have never seen a deer hit directly in the spine with bow or gun( bone covering spinal cord, not the " fins" as some call them) get up and run away. You can break the spine, not necessarily sever the spinal cord, but they ain't getting up. Yes a hit could be marginal, and paralyze a deer temporarily. Unfortunately, I've hit my fair share of deer in the spine with the bow, only shooting 42#, so it's not like I'm shooting high poundage. None have ever gotten up.
